But Keane believes they will return prepared to challenge English football’s only unbeaten record.

“It’s a massive game for us,” said the defender, an ever-present this season.

“We are only two points away from them though and if we beat them we’ll go above them, so we are looking to win and push on.

“At home with the fans behind us we feel like we will score goals, so if we defend like we did against Wolves then hopefully we will keep a clean sheet again.”

Burnley extended their own unbeaten run to seven games with the goalless draw at Wolves and Keane added: “It’s been a good break for the lads, obviously we’ve had a lot of games and some positive results in this time so it’s been good to have a little rest.

“Saturday-Tuesday games can take a strain on players and to know there’s a break coming up can help.

“Personally I don’t mind playing throughout the whole season as I’ve been used to it being involved with the (England) Under 21’s.

“However this is the first time I’ve actually had a break due to this and it’s been nice, after a few days though I think most of the lads are just looking forward to getting back in.”
