CHRIS Long hopes he can keep making an impact for Burnley as he waits for his full debut.

The striker, a summer signing from Everton, had to settle for cameo appearances in his opening two games last month, after getting up to speed with the rest of the squad having missed out on a full pre-season.

The 20-year-old had his longest run-out against Reading on Saturday, as one half of a double substitution with debutant Joey Barton.

Burnley pulled a goal back soon after the duo’s introduction.

And while Long was disappointed the Clarets couldn’t earn at least a point, he said: “I thought we played better in the second half. I think me and Joey gave a lift to the fans to be honest and we reacted to the fans because they were amazing.

“ It was just a shame about the goal that got cleared off the line .

“But it’s gone now. The focus is on Rotherham so hopefully we get the result and get back on top en route to hopefully promotion.”
