BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche said his side were deserving of their first win of the season. Defender Michael Keane's first-half header from David Jones' corner was enough to beat Brentford.

Andre Gray, who left the Bees on the eve of the game for a club record £6million, watched from the Bob Lord Stand.

The win could have been more comfortable for the Clarets with chances for Scott Arfield and substitute Sam Vokes in either half.

But Dyche was pleased to get off the mark, with a first clean sheet to boot. "There were a bit of nerves in the stadium in the first half and you understand why.

The expectation changes and everyone wants that first win, including ourselves," said the Burnley boss.

"We had to get our first win, it was important. It's important to get wins at home as well.

"They get it, they get the question marks after coming down, losing some big and important players. They're thinking 'can we become the next big players, can we get that first win?' All of those things.

"But they're still human beings, and they're good human beings.

"Overall I thought we deserved it. When you look at the chance count I don't think they had a lot really of any real meaning."

Of Keane's header, Dyche added: "He's alive, he's got a good spring, he's a big lad, he's developing and learning and he's got a long way to go but he's a very good player.

"We were nice and solid today. We had a good mixture of grind and some good play, especially for the chances. We scored a good goal from a set piece. You've got to find different ways of scoring goals.

"There's more to come by the way."
