BURNLEY earned their first win of the season thanks to Michael Keane’s header.
The defender, who opened his Clarets account in the last home game with Birmingham City, nodded in David Jones’ corner in the 25th minute, putting Sean Dyche’s side in front for the first time this season.
And they defended well against an organised Brentford outfit to earn their first clean sheet.
Sam Vokes had a golden opportunity to double Burnley’s lead in the second half, but after Tendayi Darikwa’s throw-in was cleverly dummied by Michael Kightly to roll through to the striker, he could only fire over the bar.
Burnley smashed their record transfer fee on the eve of the game, signing Andre Gray from the Bees for £6million.
The 24-year-old watched the game from the Bob Lord Stand after signing too late to be eligible to play.
