BURNLEY suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of League One Chesterfield, after letting a 2-0 first-half slip.
The Clarets took a 14th minute lead against Sean Dyche's old club, with Lukas Jutkiewicz on the scoresheet again to break the deadlock.
George Boyd made it 2-0 midway through the first half.
Burnley were dominant and passing the ball around with precision and purpose, and it was against the run of play that Chesterfield pulled a goal back in the 25th minute.
The second half was punctuated by Spireites substitutions, one of which equalised in spectacular fashion.
Frenchman Armand Gnanduillet's spectacular overhead kick from the edge of the box beat a fit-again goalkeeper Tom Heaton and went in-off the right hand post.
Matt Lowton was unlucky not to squeeze the ball home from a tight angle to restore Burnley's lead.
But Chesterfield's changes had given them power and pace and they grabbed a late winner through Bryon Harrison diverting Gnanduillet's cross past Heaton.
