JELLE Vossen is set to make his first appearance for Burnley in their friendly with Accrington Stanley tomorrow, after the club received international clearance for the Belgian striker.

The 26-year-old penned a three-year deal almost two weeks ago after RC Genk accepted the Clarets’ offer.

Although the move has yet to be ratified by the Football League and Football Association, international clearance means Vossen is officially a Burnley player.

Ahead of his unofficial debut tomorrow, he said: "I'm really happy to be here. It was really important for me to get involved with the group as fast as possible so it was a good thing that I could join them (on the pre-season tour) in France.

“I'm just doing the preparation in pre-season now and I can't wait to get the games started. I'm really looking forward to it.

“I spent last season in the Championship with Middlesbrough so I got to know the league.

“This is the next step in my career and I have feel I have the same ambitions as the club so that’s a good fit and I can’t wait to get the season started.

“Everybody knows this club and for me it was very important to know the ideas of the manager and the club.

“They share my ambitions and that is to get up to the Premier League as fast as possible. You can see it here that everyone wants to get back to the Premier League but we have to take it step by step.”
