SEAN Dyche has targeted attacking reinforcements on his summer transfer list, but he is prepared to wait for the right players rather than make signings to make up the numbers.

Burnley have lost one key striker with Danny Ings’ departure to Liverpool going through officially on July 1, although a compensation fee has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, or set by tribunal.

Ashley Barnes’ cruciate knee ligament injury, suffered in the final game of last season, effectively leaves the Clarets two forwards light for the 2015/16 season, in which they will be vying for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Burnley have been linked to Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells as a replacement for Ings, while it has been suggested that Lukas Jutkiewicz could be traded for Nottingham Forest winger-come-forward Jamie Paterson.

But so far only right back Matt Lowton has come in, on a £1million-plus deal from Aston Villa, following Kieran Trippier’s move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Clarets leave for their pre-season training camp in France in less than a week.

It is not clear at this stage whether they will be able to add to their squad before the trip, but Dyche insisted that is not a concern.

“I’d like to have the right people in the right slots, however long that takes,” he said.

“We like the group we’ve got. We want to be flexible and add to that, it’s just when those situations become open that we can do those deals.”

Of the need to boost his strike force, he added: “We obviously want to be productive at that end of the pitch because we want goals in the side, and I think we have, but we want that competition.

“The front of the pitch is always important at any level.

“There are other areas we’re also looking in, and as I suggest, there’s lots of phone calls and activity behind the scenes, and it’s just not for your knowledge.”
