BURNLEY fans could be in for the occasional Matt Lowton blockbuster if these goals he scored for Aston Villa are anything to go by.

The right back, who this week completed his move to the Clarets on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, scored a sensational volley in Villa’s 3-1 win away at Stoke in 2013.

The ball dropped to Lowton 35 yards from goal and he took one touch with his chest before unleashing a thunderbolt of a right foot volley which flew into the top corner.

Current Burnley man Michael Kightly was also on target in the game for the Potters.

After the game then Villa manager Paul Lambert said of Lowton’s goal: You won’t see a better goal in Europe. I thought the technique - the chest control and the volley - was outstanding.”

Of his strike Lowton added: “For my goal, I was ¬concentrating on my first touch and as soon as it settled like it did, it needed hitting. Luckily it flew in the back of the net.”

Lowton also scored a wonderful volley for Villa at home to Swansea.
