SEAN Dyche says he cannot say for certain who will stay or go in the summer, but hopes to keep the core of his squad together in order to mount another promotion push.

Danny Ings is set to make his last Turf Moor appearance for the Clarets this afternoon, while there has been speculation over the futures of Kieran Trippier and captain Jason Shackell.

Dyche would prefer to build rather than rebuild during the closed season.

But asked if he felt as though he could keep the squad together he was typically forthright.

“Who knows?” he said. “Everyone’s under contract contract barring two or three, which is great. They are very motivated as they have been all season.

“But you’ve got to be reality bound within football and I’d be amazed if there aren’t people sniffing around and there aren’t predators, but then again we’ll be doing that to others. It’s the nature of the job.”

Burnley would be among the favourites to make an immediate return to the Premier League if they were able to hang on to their best players.

But given the competitive nature of the Championship, Dyche warned: “We know how relentless and how up and down it is in the Championship. There are absolutely no guarantees. It’s as simple as that.

“Would we be motivated in order to be progressive again next season? Absolutely guaranteed.”

Of Ings’ future, he added: “I can’t tell you more than what’s been written already.

“There are clubs who are interested, I’m sure. They’d have to do something, if they don’t do anything then it will be his choice if he leaves and if he leaves it will go to tribunal.”
