MARK Warburton says Burnley boss Sean Dyche visited his Brentford squad and advised them before their win at Blackburn Rovers in March – and he has also helped ahead of tonight’s play-off second leg.

Dyche was the manager who ended Burnley’s 35-year wait for a win against Blackburn last year and he also helped Brentford triumph 3-2 at Ewood Park two months ago, in a result that virtually ended Rovers’ play-off hopes.

The Burnley manager is good friends with Brentford boss Warburton, after the pair previously worked together as coaches in the youth system at Watford.

Brentford travel to Middlesbrough in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi final tonight, starting the Riverside clash 2-1 down from the first leg.

Warburton said: “I spoke to Sean Dyche this week and he’s been fantastic for us.

“He and Ian Woan came and spoke to the players when we played away at Blackburn, and why not?

“They (Burnley) had a similar budget to us and a very small squad and they achieved Premier League football. Dyche just said ‘Give it a go and don’t look back’.

“We’ve got a sign in the dressing room that says ‘Take to the pitch with no doubts, leave the pitch with no regrets’. That’s what we’re about. Even if we lose, if you sleep soundly in your bed, that’s it.”

Warburton has also taken advice this week from Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

He said: “I’ve been lucky to work with good people. At Watford there was Malky Mackay, Brendan Rodgers, Sean Dyche, Dick Bate – the technical director of the FA.”
