BURNLEY have decided to lodge an appeal against Michael Duff’s red card at West Ham United on Saturday.

Duff was sent off for a professional foul on Cheikhou Kouyate but Jason Shackell and Scott Arfield appeared to be covering and the widespread consensus was that the red card shown by FA Cup final referee Jon Moss was harsh.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche had initially indicated that he was unlikely to appeal but he said he would take time to assess his decision, and the club have now opted to appeal.

Duff is currently due to a serve a one-match suspension at Hull City on Saturday.
