MICHAEL Keane has called on Burnley to turn their good form in big away games into wins at home - starting with the visit of Swansea on Saturday.

The Clarets have taken six points from eight away games against sides in the top 11, including draws at the top two teams in the league.

But they have won just two of eight home games against teams in the bottom half of the league, and Keane knows that record will have to change over the next 12 games if they are to secure a season season in the Premier League.

It is ninth place Swansea who visit Turf Moor this weekend, but only 10th place Stoke and bottom side Leicester are lower in the table and still have to come to East Lancashire this season.

Keane played an influential role in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea and said Burnley benefited from playing with the pressure off.

“I think going to places like Chelsea there is no pressure,” he explained. “We need to carry our form from games like this to our home games and when we play teams around us and hopefully get a few wins.

“I wouldn’t say Swansea’s a must-win but it’s one you’d be looking to win, like all your home games.

“I think we can win any of our home games, but especially against the teams that aren’t really at the top of the league.”

On Saturday Burnley again came from behind to secure a point away from home.

They recovered from 2-0 down to draw at Manchester City in December, and then a few days later they levelled three times against Newcastle to secure a 3-3 draw, and Keane believes those experiences have helped the Clarets cope with the pressure of going behind in the top flight.

“It’s come from experience to be honest, it was the same at City when we were 2-0 down, we know if we go a goal down at these places we’ve got to keep playing our own stuff,” he said.

“If there’s only one goal in it you always feel like you will get a chance and luckily we did on Saturday.”

And Keane thinks the results at Stamford Bridge and the Etihad Stadium show that Burnley belong at this level.

“Definitely,” he said. “They’re some of the greatest teams in Europe with great players and great managers.”

This is the second in a run of eight games against teams in the top half for Burnley, and having performed superbly in defeat at Old Trafford they now have their first point on the board from the run, and Keane thinks there could be more to come from a set of fixtures that includes Liverpool, Manchester City, Southampton, Tottenham and Arsenal.

“You look at our next eight fixtures a few weeks ago and some people might say we’d hardly get any points from that,” the former Manchester United youngster said.

“We think the complete opposite, we come to these places with freedom and we know we can play our game, we’ve caused every team in the league a lot of problems.

“If we can keep it tight at the back like we did on Saturday we know we can get results and we just need to take this into the game against Swansea, it’s a big game for us and we could do the three points.”
