WHILE Manchester City and Newcastle jetted off to the Middle East for a mid-season sunshine break this week, Burnley’s players have been letting off some steam at Catterick races in North Yorkshire.

Despite having a free weekend following their FA Cup exit at the hands of Tottenham, Burnley’s players are spending their time training at Gawthorpe as normal.

Sean Dyche’s squad did enjoy a day off on Wednesday though, heading to Catterick for a team day out at the horse racing.

After being knocked out of the cup in a third round replay at White Hart Lane 10 days ago, Dyche joked that Burnley’s limited budget would only stretch to a few days in Scarborough.

But instead the players have remained local, and they trained before lunch on Thursday at their Gawthorpe base.

Despite still being in the FA Cup, City’s players headed off to Abu Dhabi after their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, spending three days in the soaring heat and playing a friendly against Hamburg, before jetting back to Manchester for today’s fourth round clash with Middlesbrough.

Newcastle are out of the cup and John Carver is treating his squad to a warm-weather break in United Arab Emirates as they look to recharge the batteries before they play Hull a week today.

The Magpies jetted off 24 hours after their 2-1 defeat to Southampton last Saturday evening and were due back before this weekend.

Burnley will be in training as normal next week as they prepare for the crucial Premier League fixture away at Sunderland.
