BURNLEY’S under 18s will get a taste of Turf Moor tonight as they face Cardiff in the FA Youth Cup fourth round, and Terry Pashley is hoping it will show his youngsters the rewards available if they work hard.

The Clarets kids beat AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow to reach the stage, and now get a taste of life in the first team dressing rooms and stadium, as they bid for a fifth round tie away at Nottingham Forest.

Boss Terry Pashley hopes tonight’s knockout tie will inspire his youngsters to go on to greater things in their career.

“The lads are certainly looking forward to playing at Turf Moor,” said Pashley, the Clarets professional development phase lead coach.

“It’s a great chance to see what life is like in first team dressing rooms and at the ground, it gives them a little taste of it and reinforces the message of the hard work that is required to reach the level every week.

“We have lads who are 16, 17 and 18, it’s a great experience for them and shows the rewards you can get for hard work and what you need to put in to get to that level and stay at that level.”

Last year Burnley were beaten in the third round at Manchester United, while the year before they beat United at Old Trafford but lost at Manchester City.

The Clarets best run in recent years came in 2011/12, when they reached the semi-finals but lost over two legs to rivals Blackburn Rovers.

With the first team without a game now until a week on Saturday, Pashley is hopeful some of the senior coaching staff, and manager Sean Dyche, will be in to speak to the lads and watch the game.

“It’s great for the young lads to see the manager and senior coaching staff,” he said. “It brings a bit of added pressure, but there is always pressure as a footballer and it is something you have to deal with. It’s a big incentive for the players if the senior coaching staff are watching, a chance to make an impression.”

The Clarets’ last outing resulted in a 6-0 win over Carlisle in the Youth Alliance.

, but attention now turns to the cup, and Pashley is confident his side has what it takes to secure qualification for the last-16.

“I’ve not seen Cardiff but we’ve got three or four DVDs of them,” said Pashley.

“We’ve seen their win over Charlton in the last round and a couple of league games.

“We’ll certainly be emphasising that it’s about what we do though. We will make them aware of what Cardiff offer but we have to make sure we play well.”

Tonight’s match kicks off at 7pm.

The Bob Lord stand will be open and tickets are £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.
