BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche said he was ‘frustrated’ about the manner of Tottenham’s first goal in their 2-1 win over the Clarets at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane opened the scoring for Spurs on 21 minutes, but it was a contentious goal in more ways than one.

Michael Keane was penalised near the halfway line for a handball after Kane had flicked a header on just a yard in front of the on loan Manchester United youngster.

A quick free kick then released Nacer Chadli, although the pass was intended for an offside Christian Eriksen, who stepped away from the ball at the last minute.

“It’s hard for referees but Kane gets a little flick on the ball and I don’t think Keano can move,” said Dyche, “it’s ball to hand, there’s nothing he can do.

“Then they take a quick free kick and we know the contentious issue of offside and who is and who isn’t.

“The rules say he isn’t interfering with play so we have to go with that, and we never really got back on the side of the ball because our players were reacting to the fact he was offside. It was just frustrating more than anything.”

Despite the defeat Dyche was happy with his side’s performance in north London, with the hosts having Hugo Lloris to thank for four vital second half saves.

“I thought we delivered a good performance again,” said the Burnley manager.

“We were effective in our play. We wanted to get the ball forward quicker than we normally do, we want to pass and play normally but we wanted to affect their back four because I thought we could, and we did. Their keeper had quite a busy day for an away side coming to this ground.”
