Tom Heaton 8
Showed his bravery collecting a low cross under pressure in the first half and then showed his quality with his outstanding stop from the penalty
Kieran Trippier 7
Going forward his best performance of the season, his crossing was back to last season’s standards and he was a threat down the right hand side
Michael Keane 8
Growing in confidence with every game and was superb up against Graziano Pelle. Strong in the air and stayed tight to his man throughout
Jason Shackell 7
Took a back seat compared to his partner but still a strong showing and Burnley’s defensive record is testament to the back four
Ben Mee 7
Defended robustly in the first half, which was impressive considering he was ill on Friday and came off before the end
George Boyd 6
Worked hard as always but his lazy dangling leg which Bertrand fell over for the penalty was a soft tackle
Dean Marney 7
Victor Wanyama is an imposing presence in midfield but Marney and Jones kept a tight grip on the game
David Jones 7
Led the pressing and showed excellent energy to get around the pitch, but didn’t have a big influence in attack
Scott Arfield 6
Not really in the game and had little impact going forward. One of his quieter afternoons
Ashley Barnes 7
An old fashioned centre forward, he put himself up against all of Southampton’s back four and constantly tried to cause problems
Danny Ings 7
The sharpest player on the pitch. Tested Forster from distance but guilty of trying to do a little too much on his own
