BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche believes his side are creating better chances than they were at the start of the season - despite coming away from Saturday’s crunch clash at Loftus Road goalless.

The Clarets missed several presentable chances as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to fellow relegation battlers Queens Park Rangers.

But Dyche believes that was a one-off, and that his players are now getting better openings than at the start of the season.

The Clarets found the back of the net just once in their first seven matches of the season, going a club record 655 minutes without a goal between Scott Arfield’s strike to take the lead against Chelsea on the first weekend, and Michael Kightly’s 39th minute strike at Leicester City on the first weekend of October.

Since the drought came to an end the Clarets have only failed to score twice in nine games, in the 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium and then on Saturday.

“The big question was early season statistically we were making chances and it was how we could enhance the quality of the chance,” said Dyche.

“I think you could see on Saturday that we are enhancing the quality of the chances.

“Barring the keeper, you’ve certainly got the grip of the game by half time, but we didn’t have and they capitalised on it.”

George Boyd missed several chances for Burnley on Saturday, while Danny Ings sent a header wide and Ashley Barnes blazed a shot over the bar.

Dyche admits that his side have to turn good chances into goals.

“It’s a hard league to do that in but we’ve showed good signs,” said the Burnley manager.

“It adds to the belief system, Ings has been bright scoring goals and delivering good performances, then you’re adding in chances created, still obviously questioning the goals against.

“There are good signs of all the things I’m suggesting, but good signs don’t win you games, we’ve got to turn that into wins, we have done and we’ve got to keep doing it.”
