WE have finally done it! We have taken maximum points in a game which had the fans sitting on the edge of their seats.

The goal was a superb header from Ashley Barnes which gave Hull keeper Steve Harper no chance.

Striker Danny Ings was back to his impudent self as well, when he tried his luck from the centre circle seeing the keeper out of his box with a lob that drifted narrowly wide. If that had have gone in I’m sure Turf Moor would have erupted.

The Clarets were very good value for their first victory and I just hope the revival does not end here.

Tigers boss Steve Bruce was very honest with his comments after the game and apologised to the travelling supporters for his team’s performance.

But let’s not take anything away from our own endeavour. There will be far tougher tests in the battle for survival but the steel in the performance shown by the Clarets on Saturday gives me a feeling we will be ok.

What about that referee? Mark Clattenburg’s officiating of the game was abysmal and I feel he should be suspended from his duties in the same way as the players.

Dishing out 10 yellow cards, to me it’s plain stupid, Clattenburg is a real attention seeker and he should have his whistle confiscated for a while.

Now that we have shown we can score goals and with the defence in such fine form at the weekend I have high hopes that we can go on a run, but it’s not going to be easy, I have looked at our fixtures and it is frightening.

Sean Dyche can work his magic, I’m sure, but I detect a flow of confidence oozing out of his squad which they didn’t have in the previous 10 games.

Talking to some Clarets fans I got the feeling of utter relief at the result and that we could move on. What has impressed me most is the attitude the players have shown when the critics are writing their chances off about staying in the Premier League.

Jason Shackell is a leading figurehead when he says let them keep writing us off and we will prove them all wrong. That, coming from the captain, fills me with pride and I’m sure the squad around him will realise the value of every hard fought point.

Take every game as it comes and give your best on the day, we, the fans, cannot ask for anything more.

As long as they continue to do that, and perform as they did on Saturday, then I think we will start picking up wins on a regular basis.

Hopefully it will continue after this international break has finished.
