TYPICAL isn't it? Just when we are finally getting the measure of our new division with our first victory, and looking like we could go on a bit of a run, along comes yet another international weekend, Premier League circuit breaker.

Well, that is the hope of course, but there's no denying that Saturday's win against Hull City was absolutely vital. Not only because when a winless streak stretches for so long it leaves both players and supporters wondering just when that initial victory will be, but also the longer it goes on, the more committed the opposition are to not being the first to be defeated.

You could be forgiven for thinking that wasn't the case at Turf Moor, however, as the toothless Tigers offered a little threat, and by the end losing by a single goal certainly flattered them.

And what a well crafted move it was - Kieran Trippier supplying the pinpoint cross after one of his rampaging runs down the right found the recalled Ashley Barnes, who with a precise header staked a strong claim for inclusion with his all-round play and delivery.

His partner for the day, Danny Ings, has visibly grown in confidence since bagging his first goal against Everton, and the commitment to the cause is there for all to see.

I tweeted early on Saturday morning: "Seen two magpies, found a four leaf clover and just polished my lucky horse shoe. Today's the day!" And so it proved, as our recent good form against Hull continued.

Of course, we're still playing catch-up, but for all the reasons mentioned I do believe that this could be just the platform we need for progression up the table.

Finally, it's great to see international football return to the Turf on Thursday night when England Under 21s take on Portugal.

With a good chance of at least one current Claret being in the line-up it's got to be worth going along to cheer on the Young Lions.

You never know, we might just be watching a future World Cup winner. For which side, I'll leave you to decide.
