BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche has told Lukas Jutkiewicz to trust in his attacking instinct, and the goals will come.

The summer signing was the top scorer in pre-season, with six goals from six friendlies, but has yet to register his first goal of the 2014/15 season.

Jutkiewicz went into the second international break as the player with the most shots without scoring in the Premier League - 18 - but had a hand in ending the Clarets’ six-game goal drought by setting up Michael Kightly for the first equaliser in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Leicester City.

Of the prospect of the 25-year-old reaping personal rewards of his own hard work, Dyche said: “He’s doing well. I said to him after the game at Leicester ‘just believe slightly more’.

“He’s had chances and turned on the box a couple of times, but I said ‘It will come’.

“He’s a young man learning his trade at a higher level.

“It’s a tough level, make no mistake.

“But he’s going about his business in the right manner.”

Dyche feels the former Everton and Middlesbrough striker has the right kind of aggression in his attacking play, adding: “I think there’s an edge to players, that’s all it is.

“You need an edge to your game and I think that’s the difference with what Sam (Vokes) brought to his game last year.

“We spoke about it in the week as a group.

“That edge has to be there.

“We went away from it last Sunday at West Brom, but it was absolutely on show at Leicester.”
