BURNLEY have not contributed greatly to the Premier League’s goal glut in the early stages of the season, but Sean Dyche does not care what the scoreline is at the Hawthorns tomorrow – as long as it is a victory.

The Clarets are still without a win this season and have scored only once in their first five league matches.

Their last three games have all ended 0-0 so there was some irony yesterday when Dyche was asked why he felt the Premier League season so far had produced 143 goals – up from 107 at the same stage last year.

The Burnley boss made it clear that he is keen for his side to start scoring more goals soon, but his focus is more on making sure they earn three points.

“Any win is perfect – 1-0, 3-0, 7-0, 9-0,” he said. “A win’s a win – 1,000-0, 1-0 – you get three points.

“That’s all I’ve ever been interested in – winning games.

“One hundred and forty three goals is a fair shift and possibly teams want to be aggressive in attack, we certainly do, we’re trying.

“We want to be part of that and scoring goals.”

While no-one at Turf Moor is panicking about the lack of a victory so far, Dyche did not entirely go along with the suggestion that he might be prepared to be patient for the club’s win.

“We don’t want to be too patient,” he said.

“We’re hungry to get the first win because it will lead on from there.”
