BURNLEY target Henri Lansbury has signed a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder had been the subject of a £3.5million bid from the Clarets, and early indications were that the former Arsenal man wanted to join the Premier League new boys.

But Forest were determined not to sell their star man, and set to work on negotiating new terms.

Manager Stuart Pearce this week spoke of his confidence that the 23-year-old would stay at the City Ground.

Lansbury has now put pen to paper on a new deal that will run to the end of the 2016/17 season, and is believed to have doubled his previous £8,000 a week salary.

Always the bridesmaid and never the bride.
Burnley are the wall flower of the PL. If we'd have gone in with a serious bid four weeks ago he would have probably been here. Likewise with Dawson MacArthur and Bryson. We are a transfer window laughing stock.

Not the type of player Burnley need, you'll find that theres no ego's in that group and if you're driven by money alone then its thanks but no thanks. Got to admire how Dyche does his business always puts the group first and brings in players who will strengthen the spirit amongst them not weaken it. Could well be a blessing in disguise with the far superior McArthur looking to make a move to the Clarets. Financially secure for years to come while our lot are having to sell to survive. What an awful change in circumstances.

The sheer embarrassment of this face saving statement from a complete loon who pretends to be a Blackburn supporter.Lansbuery isn't driven by money alone, he's signed a deal for less money than on offer at Burnley, he says he has signed for footballing reasons as he believes Burnley will get relegated and Forest promoted. He then states that Forest are more well equipped to stay in the PL. Well, at least you've got to admire his honesty..
I must admit though McArthur is a very good second choice and we do have a chance of signing him as wigan are rubbish with less supporters than us, if it was at all possible

I note some of you guys think he has stayed at Forest for money. He now earns 16K a week. Although I agree that this is a lot of money, I would think you have players on a lot more. And if you were to sign Lansbury or any other player I would imagine they would want a lot more.

This is good business for Forest. He is one of our stand out players when fit. He wanted to stay as he sees that this year we have a chance to challenge and maybe go up into the Prem.

Choosing Burnley would have been for the money.

Anyway. Good luck this year. You will need it in a tough league.

A clue missed by those who would stop in the street if there's an unattended pram they can spit in. Thing is that Rovers are in a mess, selling is the only way out. Hence their interest in something that's not really that interesting. It's almost amusing to think that all hope is pinned one name being on a teamsheet tomorrow. Personally this is a player I really rated but the bottom line is we move on and buy another. That's what clubs in a phase of growth, building and progress do. Keep their best assets and add to them. That's why the bstrds are distraught. Because they're in the opposite phase to us, selling assets, cutting their squad and preparing for decline. They'll call it 'stability' we had about 5 words for it but it means the real world has finally intruded into their bubble. The trolls will take years to catch up. Ever deluded these are just the daytime drinkers and outpatient dross of any scuffy town. Their interest in a non transfer tells us a lot about how far the basket case club they claim to support has fallen.

Also we've now got to face the pain of knowing that forest will give us a good rogering with Lansbury no doubt on the scoresheet when we face them. Its just a no win situation for us Rovers fans, we dont want Burnley to sign anyone and we laugh when they dont finalise a rumoured signing but they will no doubt have the last laugh when we get spanked later in the season. Lets just hope they get McArthur then at least he wont be able to run rings round Williamson.

I dont think many would argue with Stuart Pearce and looks like he did a good job persuading him that he will be in the PL with Forest next season. At the end of the season we will know if Lansbury made the best choice but if he wanted to stay closer to London, it was a no brainer for him.

But surely a definite year in the prem is better than a shot at it. Think you've got it right on other counts though. Please come back on here when your lot have took 6 points off Rovers. I'll buy you a virtual drink. Good luck for the coming season (although I don't think you're gonna need a lot of luck-you're a good side if you stay free of injuries). You know it’s funny really all these Pluckers on here. They obviously don’t realize that most clubs fail to net most of their transfer targets. There is one big exception of course Hull City. I have to hand it Rovers though, Reg (Rhodes replacement) was one hell of a scoop.

I think you do have a good chance to go into the EPL this season. As long as you don’t implode like you did after playing Burnley last season. Never recovered after that defeat. Corse the same can be said for Wigan. I think Henri, who is undoubtedly skilled may regret this if you don’t go up, and we may get a more competitive player. But I think you and your arch rivals Derby have a very good chance. I actually think that the Championship will not be as competitive this season as it was the last.

You will need it in a tough league.[/p][/quote]I think you do have a good chance to go into the EPL this season. I actually think that the Championship will not be as competitive this season as it was the last. tall in the saddle

Lansbury - one week on the pitch, three weeks on the physios bench.

Better off out of the deal

Both him and Bryson deserve each other, the best we can hope for is Forest and Derby still in the championship come next year. That will teach them a lesson, money grabbing ba****ds.
Very quiet on here must have something to do with Jordan leaving, boo hoo, boo hoo.
At least they have Reg and Big Chris to knock the goals in now, LMFAO.

I think the clue is in the line he has doubled his wages. Well done Burnley - don't be held to ransom, always about the money and not about the football, the game has lost its soul.
Nice one claretcertified....h
aha, you couldn't make it up. Angela Lansbury turns down the mighty bonleh and our board turn down the Rhodes transfer to Hell, I mean Hull. Who's the club 'in a phase of growth, building and growing' keeping your best assets and adding to them...not you lot, that's for sure. Well I've got my black cans so I'm off back to the hostel now to catch match of the day. Enjoy!
