FULL-TIME: Burnley 1 Leeds United 2

HEADS UP Sam Vokes challenges for a high cross HEADS UP Sam Vokes challenges for a high cross

BURNLEY suffered their third straight defeat, despite dominating this War of the Roses clash.

Jay Rodriguez put the Clarets ahead in the 10th minute, and there looked to be only one winner – even after striker Charlie Austin went off with a suspected dislocated shoulder on the half-hour.

Rodriguez ended a run of seven games without a goal when he headed in Kieran Trippier's superb right wing cross at the far post in the 10th minute.

The Burnley-born front man had further chances, in both halves, to add to his early effort, but was denied by goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and later sent a volley over the bar.

The Clarets could have been out of sight by half-time as Keith Treacy, who started in place of the injured Ross Wallace, and captain Chris McCann went close.

Ross McCormack was twice denied by Lee Grant before the break, but Leeds manager Simon Grayson changed his front two in the second half as Burnley continued to boss proceedings.

It was winger Robert Snodgrass who came up with the goals though, after twice finding himself unmarked at the far right post to prod home twice in the last 15 minutes.

A travesty if ever there was one!
Defensive frailties yet again were the team's downfall.
With a tissue paper defence, the front men have some serious power-lifting to do if we are to come out of any game with a win. (I think we need a three goal cushion to be 90% assured of a win with anything more than 30 minutes to play).
Leeds were woeful, so what does that say about our defence?
Sad!
Still, onwards and upwards! (someday?)

We played well but Burnley being just 1 goal up will never be enough.

Although our defence played better they are still very much open to giving away poor goals and as such they have done again.

We had chances to score but yet again the finishing wasn't good enough and if you don't put the chances you create away more often than not you get bitten on the backside and so it prooved.

When are we going to learn? Leeds were not very good and they scored 2 goals from nothing really due to p*** poor defending.

Nearly in the bottom 3, how long can we keep out of it? 4 home defeats, 8 so far this season from 16 games. That looks like relegation form to me!

To climb up that table will be like climbing Everest for the first time as a novice climber.

Getting sick of throwing away games.

Looks like Howe and his southern softie boyfriends aren't up to the job. Maybe when we sign Marc Pugh from Bournemouth in January will help to turn the tide? Another £1 million present for his pals back home perhaps??

Burnley were the better side but errors in defence again costly. Leeds fans will enjoy the three points but in truth they were woeful.

Come on Eddie get one or two defenders from somewhere.

Bournemouth's just fine, (so is the moon for that matter). We need a defender or two who will scare the Bejesus out of attackers and create doubt in their mind before toe-poking the ball into the net.
Right now, Burnley are on the back-foot before kick-off. The visitors know of our defensive frailty and set out to exploit it. An Andy Lochead mindset might focus our opponents on survival rather than goal-scoring.
