BURNLEY are still awaiting their first Championship win of the season, despite taking an early lead.

Charlie Austin made it three goals in four games with his second minute opener.

Kieran Trippier supplied an excellent cross from the right and the striker rose unchallenged to send a downwards header past David Marshall.

But the Clarets, who should have had at least one penalty, were unable to capitalise on their first-half dominance as an over-physical Cardiff combined with weak defending combined to chip away at Eddie Howe's men, resulting in Robert Earnshaw's equaliser five minutes before the break.

The defence didn't react quickly enough when the Bluebirds' summer signing received the ball in the box, and he had time to turn it past Lee Grant.

Cardiff looked more lively in the second half and Grant did well to save Earnshaw's early header.

Burnley had their chances too – largely long range ones for Ross Wallace – while Chris McCann should have won it with a close range header in the 80th minute.

New signing Zavon Hines looked lively after making his debut from the bench but couldn't fully unlock the Cardiff defence.
