STEVEN Thompson makes his first ever Premier League start as Burnley look to pick up three crucial points against Stoke City at Turf Moor tonight.

The striker comes into the starting line-up to replace Kevin McDonald, with David Nugent and Martin Paterson spearheading the Clarets attack.

It was the only change from the side that lost 3-1 at Arsenal at the weekend.

Stoke showed two changes from the team that lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup with Matthew Etherington and Liam Lawrence replacing Ricardo Fuller and Glenn Whelan.
