Hull City boss asks for 'cooling off period'

Hull boss Phil Brown has called for managers to be granted a “cooling-down period” prior to post-match television interviews after falling foul of the FA for comments made after his side’s controversial FA Cup tie against Arsenal.

Brown was fined £2,500 for comments made on TV made about referee Mike Riley following the fiery quarter-final replay at the Emirates.

Questioned about the fine, Brown defended his actions, and claimed broadcasters should shoulder some of the responsibility for interviewing managers after games.

“I was disappointed to be found guilty because I thought it was a real high-pressure situation straight after a game,” he said.

“I think there should be a cooling-down period, there should be 30 minutes after a game that a manager can allow himself time.

“I think a precedent should be set that a cooling-down period is a must.”
