Faty gets Blackburn Rovers chance

ROMA midfielder Ricardo Faty will start a trial at Blackburn Rovers next week as they are forced to play the waiting game in their search for a striker.

The French defensive midfielder is expected to meet up with Rovers at Brockhall in the next few days, once Sam Allardyce’s squad have returned from the Sydney Festival of Football.

Faty will be given a chance to impress, with a couple more trialists set to follow, and is expected to feature in one of Rovers’ games in Scotland next weekend, either against Hearts on Saturday or Celtic on the Sunday.

Faty, 23, made his Champions League debut for the Italian giants back in 2006 when he man-marked Brazilian ace Rivaldo in his side’s 1-0 win over Olympiacos.

He made 19 appearances in his first season in Serie A, being dubbed ‘the new Patrick Vieira’ in some quarters, before spending the next two seasons on loan with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and French outfit Nantes.

The Frenchman is now eyeing a route out of Roma, after limited first team opportunities, and will arrive at Brockhall on Monday, with several other clubs interested in him.

Finally a bit of decent transfer news...
after everything with andranik, heskey & benjani & co thought things were looking bad transfer wise....
but Faty is a rather decent player... not injury prone like grella and young enough to have a decent run in the first team squad... and yeah cant see many shirts selling unless for the comedy effect :P

So, thinking positively which is very unlike me, by this time next week we could in all probability have; two new midfielders and a striker!

I'd take that for my £150 season ticket ha ha.

The club have just shot themselves in the foot here. they say they have not be contacted by galatasary about grella to keep it quiet and them go anounce they are taking a player who is a player in the same postion as grella on trail.
To some it up they have had a bid for grella.

Or it could be that the club are basicially thinking ahead checking somebody now instead of waiting when its to late and then getting somebody in on short notice. Whcih then you would have complained about saying well you always knew was a chance Grella might leave.

Yeah... he might wear Ricardo.... but i meant since fans can pretty much get whatever name they want on the back of their shirts.... so they could put Faty on....

Hes a defensive midfielder with Champions League experience, he might be the ball winner we need. Grella must be on his way.

Rovers chasing Nigerian Utaka......

Blackburn Rovers are reported to be pouncing for Portsmouth’s Nigeria striker John Utaka, with the player set to be offloaded by the club on a cut-price deal.

Utaka is likely to cost around £1m, with wages of around £35,000 per week, making the deal within Rovers’ frustratingly tight budget

I know what he is but is he any good, there seems to be a huge amount of excitement generated by any mention of a signing without knowing a great deal about how good they are.I hope it's not Utaka I have seen him play and wasn't impressed.

We didnt know a great deal about Nelsen, Samba, Givet, Nzonzi or Kalinic, well I didnt. We cant really afford to buy well known players who are good.

a lot of Italians can attack and pass , as well as defend , which sounds like Sam's sort of player .
at 23 , this fits nicely with the blending in of younger players.
if others are defending , it lets Nzonzi get forward , who has got a shot in him.
