Danny's the boy for Rovers, says Singh

SIGNING Veteran Danny Murphy SIGNING Veteran Danny Murphy

DANNY Murphy will prove a “very important signing both on and off the field” for Blackburn Rovers, according to new global advisor Shebby Singh.

Rovers confirmed Murphy’s two-year deal yesterday morning, with his Fulham contract expiring, as their Championship preparations finally began in earnest.

The 35-year-old midfielder has said the ambitions of owners Venky’s and boss Steve Kean lured him to Ewood Park, despite significant Premier League interest.

Singh declined to comment on other transfer speculation, but the Lancashire Telegraph understand Newcastle United striker Leon Best is next on Rovers’ radar.

A price in the region of £3million is already understood to have been agreed with the Magpies and Best is expected to hold talks with the club in the next couple of days.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is believed to have also given Rovers permission to speak to midfielder Dan Gosling about a potential loan deal.

Another player understood to be on Rovers’ radar is Scottish international striker Steven Naismith, who now claims to be a free agent due to Rangers’ financial problems.

Murphy turned down lucrative offers from Premier League sides QPR and West Ham United to complete his Rovers switch as owners Venky’s look to prove their fierce critics wrong.

Singh said: “It is a good signing for the club. He is a player who will bring calm and composure to the midfield.

“Not only is he a good player, he is very, very good in organising the team. We have got a player with vast experience and who will help the players around him.

“He has the ability to improve players around him on the pitch. He will very important for the club both on and off the pitch.”

The former England international midfielder has surprised many by opting to drop out of the Premier League, with a number of top flight clubs understood to be tracking him.

But, after talks with Rovers’ supremo Singh and boss Kean on Friday, he insists he was in no doubt Ewood Park was the right place to move.

Murphy said: “I am absolutely delighted to be signing for Blackburn Rovers.

“When meeting Steve Kean I soon realised the passion, enthusiasm and ambition he has for the club and how much he wants the team to bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

“His desire to get me to the club was a huge factor in my decision to join. The owners were also very passionate about their desire to move Blackburn forward as a club and create a squad that is able to achieve promotion.

“I’m excited about my new challenge and can’t wait to get started. Now, my new challenge is to help Blackburn get promoted and repay the manager’s and the owners’ faith in me.”

Kean added: “Being able to bring Danny on board is a massive boost. He is a model professional, who has a real hunger to keep on playing football.

"This is a pivotal signing for us.”

just because they may have not been professional in other matters does not mean they shouldn't try and be now. i think it is absolutly right not to discuss things until they are either done or already in the public domain. to do so could end up costing us more money or us losing out on a decent target because we've been gazumped.

could we have an amnesty on the "i'm not going to ewood until kean and/or venkys are out". we know, you've told us.
murphy has become exactly the kind of player we need, and i don't think the age issue is as valid as it once was. yes the game is potentially more demanding than it once was, but fitness levels have become much better than they once were to compensate. murphy is about controlling the ball through intelligent passing, and lord knows we need a bit of intelligence and composure in our game. if we manage to retain people like nzonzi, then i would say he could learn a great deal from someone like murphy.
he's not the greatest player to play the game, but given our options, i think its a good signing.

Iam sorry to say fitz but there is more chance of Burnley going up as champions than of Venkys acting professionaly and if you go to any tabloid site most if not all transfer speculation and dealings are in the public domain from the off these days, and as for being gazumped surely with the money Venkys keep spouting they are prepared to spend ie whatever the cost, why should we worry so please stop trying to defend the indefensible.

Yes he is a good signing mr. Singh, and would benefit the club on and off the pitch, i can see that.
But unfortunately mr. Kean has not benefitted the club since he took over,he stabbed Sam in the back, bypassed mr. Williams in talking to the owners when he should of been the one he went to, his drink driving conviction, his bare faced lies about players being injured or in the wrong frame of mind to mention a few.
How you can condone such a man to be our manager is beyond belief and you can add my name to the not renewing list until he is gone whatever division we are in.

Sorry a 35 year old as your first signing does nothing at all for me, I will continue to boycott the purchasing of any ST or any firm if merchandise from BRFC until Mr Kean us removed, not for any other reason than his record as BRFC manager which is atrocious, and NIT getting rid of him on this subject alone makes me think there ARE dark forces down there, corruption could be another word I suppose.

Has any one seen Myles Anderson yet, dose he exist, has he played for BRFC in any form what so ever, seems like another good signing of Keans is feeding from the trough!
Murphy is a very good signing for us Lancs...guess you need to wait and see. His captaincy and all-round experience will be missed greatly at Fulham despite his mature years and we can benefit from that.

KO.N.
Don't disagree Frenchy, lets hope he stays injury free, this one signing does nothing for me though, a little to late bringing experience in when we have got rid of so much last year, still i will carry on reading march reports and watching MOTD and Sky and a good 7-0 hammering at Ipswich and Kean sacked the following day means I may be back to Ewood sooner rather than later, hears hoping!!
Don't think even a 10-0 hammering at Ipswich will get Kean sacked but we can but hope for his quick demise from our club.

And thinking about it a 10-0 hammering wouldn't be any good to anyone if Kean doesn't get sacked - so lets have a win (any score will do) for Rovers AND Keans sacking. Now thats what i would call a great start to the season!

Although Kean is bullet proof, or so it seems, after taking us down to championship. I do think even the Venkys would act and remove him from his duties, if we were to be struggling in the wrong half of the championship approaching Christmas next season.
-
I fully expect us by the way to be in the wrong half of the championship approaching Christmas next season. I am sure Kean will say its a long season, and the players still need to gel, and we are only "x" number of points of play offs and automatic promotion. He will mention the run Reading went on and say we can do the same.

It is whether the Venkys fall sucker again to the same pollyanna talk, or this time the fat indian lady who must be obeyed, decides enough is enough.

The man is a Rovers record-breaker for all the wrong reasons, hated by the fans, a convicted drink-driver, a slanderous oaf... the list goes on and on. Forget all this "when Kean is given the boot stuff." It is pie in the sky. He clearly has some sort of hold on Venky's and as long as they are here, he is here.

All i said was Murphy is a good signing, but that's not the point..

the last 20 months have seen some abysmal performances, the players have lacked fitness, motivation, leadership and unsure about the formations/tactics.

it is of my opinion that Steve Kean should of been sacked after we narrowly escaped relegation at the end of the 2010-2011 season.

our signings during this period have been average at best, and the worst have not even made any appearances....

whats wrong with that??

Trying to suggest EDL or racist undertones for people's comments, and tarring all concerned fans with a racist brush. I didn't think you could get any lower Steve but here you are proving us wrong time and again.

You don't even know me. For all you know I could be black. I have certainly never given anything away either way. Don't suggest anyone is racist therefore when you don't even know the first thing about them or their views.

The best case for you was if the Rovers fans were completely divided. In your head it could then be an us and them situation, between those who are going to attend and those boycotting. That's the best you can hope for from support from Blackburn fans; getting those who are going to attend to dislike those boycotting, seeing them as the enemy not you, and then you could be perhaps liked in some way.

So that is why you are trying to damnest to create division.

Do you not care that you are creating real conflict between fellow fans though? Do you care so little about them that you are willing to make their lives unpleasant by doing so, because all you care about is your own greedy selfish ends?

Like I said; how low are you Steve Kean? You certainly don't have the Rovers fans interests at heart. That's as plain as the nose on your face.

I am not supporting Venky's or Kean, what did you achieve last season with your protests, nothing but condemnation from other managers and pundits We need a strategy that shows the football world that Kean is not fit to be our manager. I will as I said, fully support the TEAM for 10 games. If as expected,Kean will then have shown to us all and others his failings as a manager,he will not be able to blame others(the fans), the football world will then maybe, be on our side and see for themselves his ineptitude.

I think there needs to be some kind of a link between the club and the fans......all this name calling and tit for tat is no good for anybody.

There needs to be dialogue with the fans, more transparency and a slicker PR setup, especially in this era of social media.

Cut him some slack

i agree, he's a good player and leader, although 25k a week is a little steep for a 35yr old.

i also agree with bringing in Colin Hendry as a coach, i think he would be great for Grant Hanley.

Problem is, the fans are upset with how they have been treated for the past 20 months.

The transfer activity during this period has been poor at best, we were chasing Ronaldhino, Beckham, Cisse, Witsel etc etc....but ended up with Modeste Orr, and Ribero!

Lots of bridges to be repaired around Ewood.

It seems to me from the outside looking in that there are two factions at BRFC:

1) Those that are prepared to go along and support the team during games but may or may not protest about Kean and Venkys whilst they are there.

2) The Venky and Kean haters who despise anything to do with them, and will deride anything which they perceive to be helpful to Kean ie. The signing of a good player or a fan declaring his support for the team.

i would say that the second faction is far more dangerous to BRFC than the first, as it seems that initially you all clamoured for more transparancy and better signings etc - now you are being given more information by Singh and have signed an excellent player in Murphy it still isn't good enough.

What faction 2) have to realise is that Venkys are not going anywhere so you are faced with two simple choices - either you get behind the team and whichever manager is in charge, or you don't and you remain firmly anti-everything

however i refuse to have a hard on about the Murphy signing.

Mainly because we have been relegated under the 'stewardship' of our worse manager ever.

But also because we had plenty of experience last season.....but we either sold it, freed it or left it out due to appearance fees.

Well a great big phat lol to you. I've just realised the ripper thing.

Jack Herer is a now tragically deceased cannabis campaigner. It's no secret that I campaign passionately to have cannabis legalised, not just on here, but on all the local news sites across the UK.

I just happen to be from Blackburn though.

Indian ownership of Rovers isn't a problem from me. I couldn't care where anyone was from as long as they were decent people. Try and find a single post from me where I've been racist or even said anything derogatory to the Venkys. You won't have any trouble finding my comments on this site, they are all over. I can easily post links to other sites as well. Absolutely no racist comments anywhere though.

It's more than a little insulting therefore to say I'm a racist in any way when the evidence is categorically to the contrary.

Which Tommy do you think I am incidentally; Tommy Cannon, Bobby Ball's comedy foil? Or is it Tommy Ball? Do you know him Steve? I'm guessing not because you're not from Blackburn.

I can easily show you that I'm not this "Tommy", whereas you are still failing miserably to show you are anyone but Steve Kean.

sorry your pre season analysis is completley wrong.. being 'anti everything' is an easy assumption - the press have been saying it for nearly 2 years now.. an easy statement to make,
The difficulties ahead are the facts and the speed of which clueless owners and managers have destroyed a great premiership club.. and it could happen to other premiership clubs too.. also look at Rangers ,, look at the bigger picture we cant let foreign investors wreck our national sport

jeez get a room, im sick of this division between fans, we all want the same thing don't we?
not all givet, not all. Some wont be happy until they own a piece of ewood with their 1k donation and regardless of how Venkys and Rovers fare in the future, it wont be good enough for some.

Keans dismissal would go a long way to repair the damage, but those arent part of the divided fans. Those of us that that care about the clubs future, genuine fans, want Kean out. Not administation. Since thats not on the cards, some will stay away and others will continue supporting the club and players, not the owners or Kean.

its as black and white as that, and those fans are not divided. the ones which are, are the hostile minority who only have self interest at heart, deludedly dreaming of owning Ewood by forcing the club into administration or Venky selling it for peanuts (unlikely). They are the dividers hating on everyone who dont start or end with Kean/Venkys/Agnew/Cr

yer or anyone who stands in their pathetic attempts OUT.

They need to be exposed, as they are include a tiny mob of posters on here, we,all know who they are, who constantly bait anyone who stands in the way of their grand delusion and try to get them banned when they are challenged.

Everyone should stand up to these keyboard bullies.
Stand up to these keyboard bullies?

I'll tell you who else I am Steve. I'm the bloke on BRFCS who stood up to everyone when Keith Andrews was shamelessly derided. Some posters on BRFCS still think I am Keith Andrews.

I'm also the bloke who stands up to anyone on here who tries to cause division between the fans. Exactly the type of division you are desperately hoping for. Exactly the type of division you are constantly trying to create.

What do you even know about standing up to bullies Steve? Your reign at Ewood has been typified by your own bullying.

not all givet, not all. Some wont be happy until they own a piece of ewood with their 1k donation and regardless of how Venkys and Rovers fare in the future, it wont be good enough for some.

Since thats not on the cards, some will stay away and others will continue supporting the club and players, not the owners or Kean.

You are actually conversing with Steve Kean there, so you're deluded if you going to get anything negative.

It's all positive innit Angrlus; one step backwards, two steps forward etc etc. I can't believe your positivity is the reason for your continued employment though. What is the truth Steve?
i agree.....talk to the fans stevie boy....time to man up
I see the boys club at work again..

whats wrong EDL?

Indian ownership giving you sleepless nights.

tough.
Jesus you are a despicable individual Steve.

That's as plain as the nose on your face.

pssst..Edl arent racist Tommy... so there cant be any racist undertones.. just those you have of course.

Well a great big phat lol to you. I've just realised the ripper thing.

Do you not understand my user name Steve?

What the sweet bajesus are you on about man? Ripper? Tommy? EDL?

Is your head spinning clean off as you write this nonsense?

I don't think it is any secret that you are the most despised man in Blackburn Steve. That's not just what I'm calling you, everyone thinks that.
jeez get a room, im sick of this division between fans, we all want the same thing don't we?
not all givet, not all.

I don't know where you were 20 odd years ago but we changed the world for the better in Blackburn with our parties. I definitely don't remember reading about any legendary Burnley warehouse parties though, although in fairness some of the residents of your town were definitely in attendance, and no matter how deeply held our prejudices, they melted away like an ice cream on a Dubai pavement then.

I agree...I like ALL Rovers fans will never forget that Kean took us down and would rather he wasn't at our club. The fact is, he's going to be around at least until Christmas.
We'll lose Junior so need a dynamic attacker to replace him.
best can replace Yak
Dann can go but we need at least one more central defender.
If we can keep Nzonzi and Kean can motivate him (lol) he is a class above the Chumpionship
Also, I actually think Olsson will stay at least 1 season, or at least till Dec 1 ...we need him to dive for another pen at Turf Moor!
Come on you Blues!!
Murphy is a good signing - end of.

Out of interest who would be your choice for central defender?

and Im still chuckling about that tackle on Kean from Peders and that dubious corner where he passed the ball to himself .. lol

IT WASNT ALL BAD LAST SEASON WHAT PLANET WHERE YOU ON THEN
You are actually conversing with Steve Kean there, so you're deluded if you going to get anything negative.

That's as plain as the nose on your face.
you call me the most despised man in Blackburn, I call you the most despised group in Blackburn.

you dont know me either but that didnt stop you did it Ripper?

Listen chum you definitely don't need to extol the virtues of weed to me - that's for sure.

I went to many a warehouse party in Blackburn, and also the odd one in Burnley, but the place to be in the late 80's and early to mid 90's was a club that was voted Britain's best for two years running - Angels which was of course in God's own town - Burnley!!

So the pattern of play now is that we are going to have Singh being quoted on all aspects of Blackburn,s bussiness....basical
ly the mouth-piece for conman Kean and the Venky,s.

Nothing original or exciting ....just a woffling mouth-piece from Malsayia....SORRY...
also a "man of the match" for his country when playing against Tranmere Rovers in 1983 (or whatever, who cares !).

Kean maybe a season older, yet wisdom and credibility will always be lacking for 95% of the supporters....the main reason the attendance will be approx. 6,000 from the outset this coming season.

That is were you make your a first positive impression on the general public Mr. Singh....unless, of course Rovers hold one of the top two positions throughout the season.

Rid the club of conmen Kean, Anderson and their offsiders....sadly there is the problem of all that deadwood kean brought on-board !!!

Absolutly spot on, let's see what Singh has to offer, maybe Kean does have something on the Venkeys and can't sack him directly, after grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory once again next season Singh has no such loyalty to the bald moron

It does not matter at all who we sign, who stays or who goes.
Kean will have us fighting a relegation battle by Christmas. He could get Man. City relegated. No matter what happens we still have the same Agent Kean in charge. But he cannot hide once the season starts. The aggro. from the supporters as soon as he shows his face on the touchline will ruin the season before it has properly begun. The man is dead in the water and has been since the day he took over from Sam. Where will we be by the time Venky's realise how awful he is and are prepared to do anything about it? Still, with their past form, they would probably promote their modestly titled 'Global Advisor' to the role of Manager in his spare time.

Reading people on here, I sometimes worry for the human race. Why oh why are some of you still talking about Kean being sacked if results dont go for him? Giving him another chance?? The guy had us relegated, he could barely win a game. If it was about results, he would have been down the road months ago. Its not about results. How many chances with our football club are you willing to give this loser? Big kick of of logic for some of you.

No Givet, no.

We could sign Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi, Pirlo, Puyol, Hart, Sneijder & van Persie and we'd have no chance........ why? drum roll..... Steve Kean.

As long as he is the manager of Blackburn Rovers, we shall never succeed at any level. Fact.

Now now Mr Robinson, too much faith in your convictions or just blowing smoke out your Herer as per usual Tommy?

So do tell me, when the EDL chase the muzzies out of Ewood, what are your plans next?
What goes on in your head Steve?

Or is this, as it always was, an act for Desai back in India? Is this your latest excuse to her for the fans now leaving in droves? Does she actually read these pages Steve? If so I'm amazed.

A concerted campaign by "Tommy"? I've had a quick look on t'internet, and putting two and two obvious things together with your EDL thing, I can only assume you are suggesting that I'm Tommy Robinson the leader of the English Defence League. I've just noticed on wiki that he was born in late 1982. How could he have possible been involved in the Blackburn warehouse parties therefore you clown, he would have only been 6 or 7 at that time?

Has the most powerful owner of our club believed lies of this magnitude for this long already from you? Wow, wow and wow is all I can say.

Incidentally it's not "the t'internet" as you posted earlier you baffoon, because that would be "the the internet". You don't appear to have picked up the Lancashire dialect very well. The t' is short for "the", hence the apostrophe. Tommy Robinson wouldn't know that either, as he's from Luton.

One definite thing of note: You seem to know this Tommy Robinson quite well to know that he is saying specific defamatory remarks about our owners. It begs the question; what are you doing getting so cosy to the leader of such a supposedly racist organisation?

Also, if I was Tommy Robinson, don't you think it would be a massive media story right here, with my admission of hardcore campaigning for change to the cannabis laws?

What's really strange here is that I seem to be the one constantly proving I'm not some random person, whereas you don't care a jot about being exposed as Steve Kean. Do you not care because your audience is just one person in India and me possibly being that person, however vast the evidence against, is a good excuse for the fans staying away?

Are you seriously pushing racism as a reason for the fans staying away? Jeez Steve, you're like Status Quo; down, down, deeper and down.
You see Tommy, its like this.. zzzz...

Are we getting upset that our plans are unravelling.. and you'd have got away with it if it wasn't for those **** Muzzies eh? If it makes you feel better we can call you Tommy snr.the zimmer-frame wielding muzzie hater. Nearly as slow as Tommy.. barely

So, Tommy, question for you when you're not too doped.. If a tree falls in a forest and there's no-one to hear it, would you still be this boring?

Why does everyone find a need to go on about who is who's agent? Agents have been about in the game for years now and I think everyone in football from players, managers, coaches, pundits even all have them.

Just cause Venkys used the agent whose name we should not mention and who turned out to be not very good, then why does everyone question who is the agent for every player and non-player that is linked or signs for Rovers?

Murphys agent is NOT the man whose name we should not mention - it is WMG/SFX Sports.

Hope that can satisfy your idle curiosity. BTW they also have Steven Gerard, Scott Parker, Lescott. Ji Sung Park, Michael Owen, Tim Cahill and many other decent footballers.....some
how I don't think you would have a problem with any of them coming to Ewood...or maybe you would!

Give it a rest about agents eh...(apart from the one whose name we cannot mention)...

Too many camberwell carrots, crack rocks, angel dust and plant food course through Mr herers veins to be motivated enough to unblend himself from the axminster and join such extreme organisations. Lets be realistic although Danny Murphy is a decent signing for the championship, lets not be hoodwinked into thinking we have signed a worldbeater.

He is a 35 year old out of contract free signing.

Is it a statement of intent to bring a freebie??

Shebby tells us that Danny is a great signing, Shebby also told us last month that kean should be sacked.

Force your thoughts through Shebby and I will take you serious, prove to us all that kean can be sacked, as it seems he can't and thats strange. In most fields of business there is only one man who can't be sacked..........

Thank god for the action group

New Club policies.
1. Keep Kean quiet for a bit (shebby to spout sh1t instead)

2. Sign as many players or be linked before 10 July 2012.

3. Avoid players leaving (apart from Hoillet and Yak) before 10 July 2012.

4. From 11 July Sell as many big earners as possible.

5. From 11 July Steve can continue spouting.

This is on very good information,

Whats the relevance of the 10/11th July 2012 ??????
