Chance for feline friends to steal the show

THE producers of a stage version of a popular 1970s sit-com are looking for a charismatic cat to star in the show.

Rising Damp will be staged at Darlington Civic Theatre from May 21 to 25.

Producers are on the lookout for a cat to play the role of main character Rupert Rigsby’s beloved pet cat, Vienna.

Pet owners who put their model moggies forward for consideration could win tickets for the first night of the show, if their cat is chosen.

Rising Damp, which starred Leonard Rossiter as neurotic landlord Rigsby, is one of ITV’s best-loved comedies.

The stage version is being produced by the Comedy Theatre Company, producers of the stage version of Birds of a Feather.
