Why does it take until Thursday to draw up a short list ? Ideally the new man should be in by next Monday at the latest - to give him some time with the squad (that isn't on international duty) - and also to look at numerous videos showing how bad we have been.

The good news there is a list of applicants but it is the quality of the applicant that is a concern, Shearer is not the answer just a name in a suit and tie nor is Roy Keane so the guessing game continues, what they need to do is get this one right and quickly as we are already drifting downwards

Well he may turn a sows ear into a silk purse its all about respect and confidence the best manager's can achieve miracles.

So even if their 1st choice does accept and by the time he signed on and sorted his coaching staff out i cant see there being much if any team on the training field with the players before the next game, this is already becoming pathetic.

Thursday? So no rush then. We're at the end of day 10 since liberation from Kean and we're going to wait another 3 days before getting to the short list stage? What has been going on for the last 10 days? Then there will be interviews and a decision making stage. I won't be surprised if Black is still at the helm away at Derby. Then they will give him the job because our other targets ran a mile at the interview stage. We need a manager (proven manager not some coach or ex player hoping to test himself out) in and at work by a week today AT THE LATEST

I think 'Shabby and Venkys' will continue with their 'circus' act in appointing a Manager its a habby Shambles' - who in their right mind would want to work with this lot and coaching/playing staff who are second rate - yes a complete sort out is needed from Manager, Assistant Manager and Coaching Staff not to mention the replacement of the likes of Murphy Orrr Dann & C0 - Kean along with the sanction of the Venkys has left us in one hell of a mess!!!

I just read the article. Well, the first line. I dread to think. However, if Venkys want a completely empty stadium then he's the right man.

What some fans who hailed Shebby Singh dont realise is that all of this is a big ego trip for him, its his computer game come reality and he is enjoying being King Pin with some power. Drawing it all out is part of his game. If everything was going ok, he would have to fade in the background

He forgot to mention that in the mean time he is going to sit around doing absolutly naff all. GET IT DONE NOW NOT LATER!!! if i was in his position we would have a good manager in by now i would be up night and day sorting it out as im sure most true rovers fans would not waiting around

It will be a boost to the whole club when we get the new manager in but now it is taking too long.

The position would have been filled last week though if Sherwood would have walked out on Spurs and Rovers would have agreed the high compensation figure mentioned.

That has not worked out so we go into the second PK week. (Post Kean)

I think that the application window should have been closed off this evening and a short list decided on by tomorrow am. The top three should be interviewed this week and the appointment should be announced by Saturday.

But for that to happen the next manager will have to be a free agent/unemployed now as otherwise Rovers will have to start asking for permission to talk to people and negotiate compensation which of course they will not want to pay.

So that cuts the list down a bit....it will be further reduced when the people mentioned as being interested over the last week withdraw as that fake interest was purely to remind bigger and better clubs that they are around and/or help them negotiate bigger contracts with their current clubs.

By the end of the week we may be lucky to have three real applicants to pick from. Just hope that the one we do pick is up to the job.

A short-list drawn up by our global adviser who hasn't played one minute of English football and hasn't an FA coaching badge - great start.
Here's noddy's short list and prediction.

1. Jourdan Ali - the people's choice, at least in Pune.
2. Eric Black - consolation prize to save his face
3. Allan Shearer - the price to get him off the comfy coach mumbling cliches in ungrammatical English, are surely beyond Venky's budget.
4. Roy Keane - the man who said Mick Mc was unfit to run Ireland, unlikely to go to Pune once a month and take orders from Shabby
5. Berndt Schuster, brilliant German international, player, captain and manager of Real, unlikely to take job if he speaks to Salgado.
6. Mick McCarthy could come cheap but the fact that he knows how to get out of the Championship could go against him.

So, here goes - Noddy's going for McCarthy, a reasonably sensible choice and Jourdan Ali on the coaching staff, just to prove Venkys are nuts.

He is adamant there are 'big names' on the list, which should rule out quite a few of those on the betting list. Interesting that he appeared to entertain the notion of Eriksson. Whilst he wouldn't be my number one he would definitely get my support as he has the cv as a MANAGER to earn the job and have a good crack at it.

He also appeared to refute suggestions he spoke to Spurs about Sherwood, which again can only be a good thing. If he wants to go into management he should work his way up from the bottom. It is not the role of our club to be a nursery for aspiring managers to gain experience before moving on to better things e.g. Hughes. We need a proven name who can bring stability and immediate results and who will be with us for several years of recovery.

Curbishley

Foreign candidates:

Schuster
Eriksson
Benitez

Any of those six would do me fine. If they turn out to be garbage, which is unlikely, then at least we can say we appointed them on the basis of their managerial reputation and not their playing history.

ndonesia/ etc. had a mate we played pub football together ,he got a job working for a company in Malaysia he ended up as a Malaysian international in the 80`s . A "big name" to Singh may not be what you or I consider to be a big name.

As for;

McCarthy - doesn't seem too popular with the proletariat on here, but there are a lot, lot worse........... Billy Davies, for example.
Curbishley - would get a nosebleed if he went North of Watford
Schuster - why is he suddenly scratching around for the job?
Eriksson - turned into a pantomime manager a long time ago - could Venkys afford to pay him off? They would have to, eventually..
Benitez - why does his name keep cropping up? No chance and even if there was, would it really be that good a choice? We are in the Championship y'know.

Venkys are waiting for black to make his mark, problem though we cant wait for a win with black in charge we will be in a relagation place by then.

Our happiness does not depend on BRFC - if it did we'd all be as miserable as sin. But we want Rovers to do well and we are trying to help by voicing our opinions. They are only opinions but they come from years of experience and it is nice to compare them with others and see that although there is a lot of variety, we are mostly agreed that a top manager given control of footballing matters at Ewood is essential.

Venkys have put some money in but they have also taken it back out with their sales of our best players. We are divided on whether they sincerely want to do things to help BRFC or whether they are simply asset-stripping and are not really interested in football at all.

It may sound like negativity and complaints to you, but we are not idiots. We are also patient and will hope correct decisions, not rash ones, are made in appointing the right man for the job. That does not mean, however, that this should drag on for weeks and weeks when there are some top names waiting to do the job. Take it easy, have a nice day.

Interested in Shebby's comments.... "I will meet with my colleagues on Thursday and we will draw up a shortlist then. We are going through the due process". Who are the colleagues (Shaw and Agnew + he we cannot mention?), what is "due process" and why is it taking four days to get a list together? It contradicts Shebby's other comment "We have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of interest we have had in the job and are in a hurry, but won't rush the decision." Shebby, you might be in a hurry but Mrs. D. won't rush the decision, because Mrs. D. will tell you who to appoint after the 'preferred' candidate has gone to India (assuming he is not already there) - never heard of "She who must be obeyed" and "She who pays the piper, calls the tune". Can't wait for the 'Club' to thank the fans for their patience, like they thanked those that turned up / 'returned' to the non-event called the Wolves game. 'Kean' speak is still coming out of Ewood, because nothing is coming from our absent owner(s). the venkys have taken more money out of the club they are only putting the money from samba £12 mil etc

Erm ... I seem to recall last time we were relegated - with a better squad of players - thanks Keanocchio!

We endured an up and down first season finishing 11th and dumping Liverpool out of the FA Cup on their patch with Frandsen's pass to Blake and bang out they went - and luckily so did those two players as Souness got hold of the club the following season and re-shaped the squad going forward!

Throughout those two seasons the fans rallied round, even more so after the sad passing of Jack - it was nice to recall that time of erm ... that's it five past Michopoulos ... winning at Dumpdale to clinch runners-up to Fulham and just before that entertaining Huddersfield at Easter with magic Jansen in his pomp and over 28,000 at Ewood for a TV game - amazing!

It's not 'glory-seeking' it's pride in OUR club - if Venky's show it - it shall be returned in kind!

However I'm worried that Shabby says it could take upto 3 weeks and there is 'no rush' - sorry Shabby just look at the 'entertainment' value of Saturday - there is every rush - any chance of us getting Emerton back for Oz - no right winger since he left and it shows!

Unfortunately I don't have a spare hour to explain what has happened to our once well run (like a well oiled swiss watch) club since the Venkys took control. Seeing you're a Rovers fan (whatever) then you will be well aware that since their take over the club has been rather badly run. Shockingly run infact. It's taken a relegation, Steve 'the worst manager in the history of world football' Kean, mass boycotting and 2 years of footballing hell to make your super sonic Venkys realise what an absolute arse they've made of running a football club. So much so, we hold little faith that they will make the right decision.

Rovers will draw up manager shortlist on Thursday

BLACKBURN Rovers' global advisor Shebby Singh has said the club will draw up a shortlist of candidates for the managerial position on Thursday.

Singh confirmed Eric Black would continue in temporary charge as the process to find Steve Kean's successor continues.

Singh declined to comment on individual names but confirmed 'top names' have registered their interest.

He said: "I will meet with my colleagues on Thursday and we will draw up a shortlist then. We are going through the due process.

"We have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of interest we have had in the job and are in a hurry, but won't rush the decision."

But for that to happen the next manager will have to be a free agent/unemployed now as otherwise Rovers will have to start asking for permission to talk to people and negotiate compensation which of course they will not want to pay.

So that cuts the list down a bit....it will be further reduced when the people mentioned as being interested over the last week withdraw as that fake interest was purely to remind bigger and better clubs that they are around and/or help them negotiate bigger contracts with their current clubs.

By the end of the week we may be lucky to have three real applicants to pick from. Just hope that the one we do pick is up to the job.

A "big name" to Singh may not be what you or I consider to be a big name.

As for;

McCarthy - doesn't seem too popular with the proletariat on here, but there are a lot, lot worse........... Billy Davies, for example.
Curbishley - would get a nosebleed if he went North of Watford
Schuster - why is he suddenly scratching around for the job?
Eriksson - turned into a pantomime manager a long time ago - could Venkys afford to pay him off? They would have to, eventually..
Benitez - why does his name keep cropping up? No chance and even if there was, would it really be that good a choice? We are in the Championship y'know.

Our happiness does not depend on BRFC - if it did we'd all be as miserable as sin. But we want Rovers to do well and we are trying to help by voicing our opinions. They are only opinions but they come from years of experience and it is nice to compare them with others and see that although there is a lot of variety, we are mostly agreed that a top manager given control of footballing matters at Ewood is essential.

Venkys have put some money in but they have also taken it back out with their sales of our best players. We are divided on whether they sincerely want to do things to help BRFC or whether they are simply asset-stripping and are not really interested in football at all.

It may sound like negativity and complaints to you, but we are not idiots. We are also patient and will hope correct decisions, not rash ones, are made in appointing the right man for the job. That does not mean, however, that this should drag on for weeks and weeks when there are some top names waiting to do the job. Take it easy, have a nice day.

I'm also a Rovers fan and I agree with DitKhan. Everyone said Venkys wouldn't spend and they did. They still moan. Everyone said "KEAN OUT" and now he's gone. And the fans still moan. it annoys me.
