Blackburn Rovers midfielder Etuhu touch and go for Wolves clash

BLACKBURN Rovers caretaker boss Eric Black has revealed that Dickson Etuhu is ‘touch and go’ to feature in Saturday’s home match against Wolves following illness.

Etuhu missed last night’s 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest because of flu and Black confirmed at a pre-match press conference this afternoon that the midfielder will be assessed again before the clash with Wolves.

Colin Kazim-Richards is expected to feature after suffering no reaction so far on his return from a knee injury as a substitute at Forest, but Markus Olsson remains injured.

Its time Shebby stopped calling Black " manager" as he is definately only a caretaker manager our manager will have to be big enough to inform the Venkeys that we urgently need strengthening in both midfield and defense. The righ back position is vacant even when Orr plays as he is just a passenger I would love him to get sent off to see if it makes the slightest bit of difference.

I think Lowe should play right back with Kaz on the right in front of him. I've seen Orr play right back a few times and you couldn't have used a better word "vacant".

Yes I also agree
Orr is crap as a player....!!
we def need a right back
we need a manager who can attract the right quality players to Ewood Park
hence the right man needs to chosen very carefully.
I think were ok up front....!
its the defense that's needs sorting out as Black has shown last match ....it can be done......!!
Also we will need to replace Murphy for next Premiership season as hes too old and we need younger , faster players.

I don't think we will miss Etuhu all and so far I have seen very little in terms of added quality to the team from him, or his former team mate Danny Murphy.

Given that we must get back to winning ways, we must set up in a more attacking manner on Saturday. We have a good chance to get some points on the board and provide lift off with three of the next four games being at home.

The story of the season so far, is purely and simply,'must do better'. Not a single performance yet in nine were we can look back and say that was good.

Who ever takes over will have to make do with what Rovers have until January, then hopefully the new manager will get some funds and bring in decent players (who can hit the ground running)

I've only seen Robinson, Givet, Pedersen, Dunn and Rochina in this team, having voted with my feet since the start of last season. I'll be there on Saturday cheering them on. From the sounds of it, it is going to be a scrappy, boring affair with maybe the only goals coming from mistakes, although I am really looking forward to seeing what Rhodes can do. But will there be a supply line for him? COME ON ROVERS!!!! GET INTO 'EM!

Agree with you on overall performances but have to disagree with you Etuhu. Think he's been our best player this season by far. He's been carrying Murphy in nearly every game, protects the defence (despite dodgy tactics!) and breaks up play well in the midfield. 1st name on the team sheet for me, class.

agree with the Etuhu comment, thought he was great against Hull at home this season had players bouncing off him in the tackle, he is powerful and can read the game well, he is just a bit static in midfield at times, personally i think he would be a better bet at center half than scott Dann or could play as a holding midfielder infront of the two center halfs allowing us to put a more creative midfielder in the middle to orchestrate the play.

Hopefully he'll be back for Saturday as we were really weak in midfield last night.

I thought Formica looked good playing a more central role but Murphy was truely dreadful - it was like watching a smaller version of Petrovic - playing at walking pace, jiibes out of 30% of tackles, hardly ever involved and when he is he either passed it to a team-mate who was marked and put them under pressure or simply passed it straight to the opposition.

For some-one who was bought to be our "midfield general" he's currently playing like a lance corporal with trench foot !!

I never thought I'd find myself writing this but - Dickson, please come back for Saturday, we need you !!!!!

I think he should play Pedersen in centre mid. MGP has been cack on the left for years now, but back when Allardyce tried to convert him to a central midfilder, he was pretty good.

I'd go MGP in centre mid, Nunes right mid, put Lowe to right back and drop Orr completely. He's cack, and a Kean luvvie (though the two are not connected - or are they?).

I saw Etuhu at the Bristol City game and he played really well and proved very effective in midfield as a partner for Murphy - who also had a very good game. in what was possibly Murphy's only good game of the season so far?

But if these two can play together like they did in that game then they will be a formidable midfield pairing.

That must be the reason Rovers signed the both of them...Etuhu puts himself about which allows Murphy to play - at least that is the plan!

Touch and Go, good to get some rest, give a break to Murphy in Ewood, last game he is not doing good and give away lots of chances and the Fans make noice too.

Hope Dunnie get more playing time, attacking football needed to win the game. How long we draw the matches. Champions play to Win the game. Our target is 30Win + 10Draw - 6 loss. But after 9 match 4Win +4 Draw - 1 Loss. See some thing just balanced. This way we cannot get automatic promotions. Hope players and staff take it little serious. We want where we belong to. At the TOP FIGHT every week.

All the best, Keep Wining !!!

I disagree with that a bit, I think he has been carrying Danny Murphy in a lot of the games. He gets around the pitch and at least he attempts to close people down....the problem is most of the other players dont do the same so he might as well not bother as the ball just gets knocked around you. What we need is to get a proper manager to come in and get them drilled into a proper footballing unit. I think a lot of the players think they are better than what they are, probably because Kean had been blowing smoke up their a*s most of the time. One player who springs to mind is Martin Olsson. A lot of them need to get a grip and get some desire back. Ewood will be back now, they need to respond accordingly - no excuses.

Well! Here we go. Only a few hours to go before I see this strange Rovers team. I say strange because I won't recognise at least half of them. I am going to have to download their photographs so I know who's who. It will be like changing club support. Starting afresh after sixty years of supporting the old club. But if everything goes to plan and we appoint an experienced manager then I will not be worried. But I suspect that with the present owners record we are going to see more upheaval in the coming months. Hope I am wrong. But for the present I will be their giving my support to the team, at last!

Get into em!

This team is fine other than there is no way you can play both Nunes & Rochina in the same midfield as neither of them give the full backs any protection.

The "who will be the next manager" situation is beginning to take on a familiar scenario. Reminds me of when Allardyce went and slowly but surely, almost by stealth, Kean got the job. My bet is that Black will get the job and "carry on as usual" with milking Blackburn Rovers FC. I just hope i'm wide of the mark.

Agree with you on overall performances but have to disagree with you Etuhu. Think he's been our best player this season by far. He's been carrying Murphy in nearly every game, protects the defence (despite dodgy tactics!) and breaks up play well in the midfield. 1st name on the team sheet for me, class.
Couldn't have put it better myself - we missed Etuhu badly on Wednesday night. Move Lowe to RB and Etuhu back in in midfield.
