I've had positive talks with Venky's, insists Blackburn Rovers boss
10:00am Friday 28th September 2012 in News
STEVE Kean has insisted that he has had ‘positive talks’ with Venky’s this week amid continuing speculation over his future as boss.
Kean is understood to be on the brink but Venky’s opted to delay a decision to remove him as manager.
The Scot has spoken to Venky’s this week but said: “I have had positive with the owners.
“Both of the main directors have had constructive conversations, all I can say is there have been positive talks with the owners.”
And Kean said the situation would not have an impact on Rovers when they travel to Charlton Athletic in the Championship tomorrow.
“The speculation and the media hype has not affected us leading into a massive game,” he said this morning.
“It has been a positive week inside the club.
“It is nothing new. I’ve had it many times.
“We have a strong dressing room full of strong characters.”
Danny Murphy is doubtful for tomorrow’s match against his old club because of injury.
Martin Olsson is available but brother Markus is not yet ready to return, with Colin Kazim-Richards also still out.

The delay in sacking him is yet another example of Venkys lack of knowledge of how football works. The only logical conclusion I can draw is that Kean has been offered another position in the club or within Venkys empire (hopefully as far away as possible from Ewood) and has been asked by them to keep things ticking over while they sort his replacement. Football doesn't usually work like this as the manager is in most cases is removed and his assistant takes over. Says to me Eric Black is not wanted either by the way!
The manner in which they are dealing with it is to try and replace him without him being seen to be "sacked". As always their communication is awful and the way they are going about it is uncommon to football....but it probably is more akin to the way things are done in business.
Either way I am praying for at least a draw on Saturday as this week (3 games culminating in the Wolves home game with anticipated protests/boycotts etc etc) could potentially put a big dent in our season.
Venkys need to act and act fast, my hope is that by the international break we have a new manager who doesn't "take the positives" out of every backward step but actually delivers an overall positive result and can bring this club back on track. At the end of the day it is about results on the pitch, and to a degree Kean has had those this season, but he has not had the performances to match as we have not been comfortable winners in any game whatsoever.

One way or another he will be out of a job in the near future, it's just unfortunate that he's in an industry that rewards incompetence and failure with millions of pounds.
Hopefully he'll be out by the Wolves game and if he's not, Venkys will have to suffer the humiliation of a home game with an almost empty ground, apart from the away fans and stubborn rovers fans.
My main concern is that Venkys will not have learned from this experience and continue to alienate fans. So that some fans won't return until Venkys sell up and move on, which I hope will be soon but I can't see happening despite their obvious inability to run a football club well.
I just hope the rovers action group can raise enough money over the next few years, incase Venkys do bail out they leave rovers in a financial mess, by that time 10-15 mil might be enough to stop the club ending up like Portsmouth (a league 1 team with £61 million worth of debt)

What a coinsidence Murphy has picked up a mystery injury this week!
Danny Murphy 'injured' is no loss to the team, as he was an absolute passenger against Middlesbrough who too slow to even foul let alone tackle opposing players.
Stick our favourite pensioner Pedersen in the middle along with etuhu and hopefully he can spray some decent balls up to Rhodes, since he will probably be sitting 10 yards inside our half again for most of the game.
Ps. if any travelling fans see kean before the game can you please taser him and stick him in a storage container somewhere!

Those who protest in the ground are perpetuating Steve Keans tenure by suppying Venkys with funds to keep Steve Kean in Drambuie for the considerable future.
Venkys do not care about anyones opinion, they have made that more than clear. Not one protest brought any kind of responce from Venkys.
The low attendances are affecting them because it means less rupees. The only way we can bring change is by this route. An attendance of around 5000 would bring more media publicity than any protest ever would.
A yellow, green or blue t-shirt aint gonna change a thing, as lovely as they are, but cutting of their income via attendances is slowly pushing Kean out of the door, if he remains come Wolves a mass non-attendance will finally push him out.

Nuno Gomez does not play 90 minutes but still get his full 50,000 pounds a week.
Kean and Hendry , pathetic pair of fraudsters between them 40,000 pounds a week.
Rhodes 50,000 pounds a week., decent but way too expensive .
Between the four of them you could play the total wages of all the players and management/coaches of both Brighton and Huddersfield the average wage of Huddersfield is 4,000 POUNDS A WEEK and Brighton players get a bit more, Murphy wages would cover all the wages fro Huddersfiels totalk first team squad, Kean in desperation brought in two old guys that no one else wanted and pays them both 50k a week then brings in a so called defensive coach (who is hopeless) and pays him 8,000 pounds a week, a lot of money we did not need to spend ,throwing away millions every year for rubbish.

Promotion or not, league champions or not, FA cup winners or not, win or lose on Saturday or not our club is in a downward spiral that may well be terminal and although our negligent, deluded owners are the cause of all our problems there is only one thing that can be done to initiate our slow and painful recovery.
Until kean goes no other conversation about our club has any relevance - including the dangers of getting the next manager wrong.
Once kean has gone then we can unite as a club - who knows we may even join in with the chant "new manager's" blue 'n' white army at Ewood again!
With this in mind I feel that those who have made very good points here about the importance of backing the team and warning about the dangers of getting what we a wishing for need to realise this one point - our club as a united entity is dead and gone. The first stage of getting it back again for those that will remain is getting kean out.
Nothing else matters.

Personally I think whoever the manager is we should get behind them. Kean, Sherwood, Klinsmann or Eddie Howe. Keans obviously taken us to the championship but we're 3rd. I think people should have thicker skins and get over whatever has irked them and get behind BRFC. Give the club some momentum rather than acting to drag us backwards. I know a lot of people have big issues but I honestly don't understand them. Most of my family are with the boycotters. If this carries on it could be the end of Kean or the end of Blackburn. Who will replace Venkys? If we get behind all at the club we've got a good shot at returning to the premier league and things may be reconciled with venkys too. The only things I'm unimpressed with are the performances and the stay away fans. We are getting results. Venkys don't want the club to be a failure and we aren't. If we start to drop, Kean will be out ASAP. In the meanwhile enjoy doing well in the league, cheering and being positive at matches, as opposed to the pantomime people seem to think they're buying tickets to at the moment.

You should have backed him to still be Blackburn supremo at start of current season after you went down in May - he was 100-30 with Hills.
What I don't understand is the state of people's teeth in your town. I saw Panorama a couple of weeks ago - it was on the Shatworth estate. Don't you have dentists in Blackburn?
PS Blackburn is a low wage area so Kean earns more in a week than the average bod earns in a year, so would you walk if you were him?

Try the T20 cricket, India look a good bet. Actually I'm sure that's the last side you'd back. Pathetic. Anyway, enjoy whipping one another up into a state of heightened stupidity. I'm off to get on with my life before trying to enjoy the Charlton game tomorrow regardless of the result. A draw would be appreciated.

Oh dear givet82, there are so many suspicious minds on this website.
But your cynicism is understandable as there have been so many false alarms about Kean's imminent departure.

Obviously he's not the most successful manager we've ever had but lets stay united behind all at the club and not do daft boycotts etc. We weren't far from survival last season and maybe with the 12th man we would have been OK. This season we're well positioned. If the supporters get behind everything it'd give us a massive boost.

Total crank and a crackpot. You'd be lucky to find one it's like in each stand. Maybe it could be identified when it jumps up and. elts out "Steve Kean's Blue and White Army.
Cue more dogsh!t about real fans and why after 37 years I'm about to go and watch two other teams play each other.
Like I say we're well positioned, give him a chance this season, things aren't going too badly.
Would a new manager necessarily do better than where we are now?
I know performances haven't been good but we're getting the points.
Would you want Alex Mcleish or Tim Sherwood? I wouldn't.
Klinsmann, Benitez, McCarthy or Redknapp would do for me.
I really don't understand, maybe I'm an idiot, why people are so upset with Kean. Has he done that much to offend people? We got relegated, we're doing OK. Teams go down, teams go up, but for gods sake don't throw your toys out the pram.
YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
Boycotting may get rid of Kean, it might kill the club. Who knows? Venkys may get tired of Kean, or tired of the circus and totally give up. Who will replace them? I know I've not got a spare 10m or whatever it'd cost.
Anyway, basically, getting united behind whats there instead of united against whats there or staying divided will give the club a huge boost at this moment. Cue the I'm an idiot replies. Cheers in advance.
Going down there is just prolonging the futility. His position is untenable, and has been since we scraped survival on the last day of 2010/11.

I suppose there is one positive to come out of it from our point of view. Murphy's injury. Superb that means Michael Stipe will not be on the pitch so we will be playing Charlton with 11 players instead of 10. Kean hand in your resignation and take murphys law with you coz he's pants.

Steve Kean earned a ‘stay of execution’ at Blackburn Rovers after his wife Margaret called the club’s co-owner Anuradha Desai to say she believed sacking him would be unfair, sources in India and England have told Sportingintelligence
.
Insiders say the decision was taken to sack Kean last weekend and plans for his dismissal were so advanced that a press release confirming the news was in circulation at Ewood Park on Monday morning, signed off by Venky’s and ready to be posted on the club website.
But in an 11th-hour intervention, sources say, Mrs Desai took at least one call from Mrs Kean to protest at what was then believed to be an imminent departure.
It is not known whether Kean himself and / or Kean’s agent, Jerome Anderson, also spoke to Mrs Desai but the sacking did not go ahead as planned and the press release was not issued.
Rumours persist that Kean will be leaving the club anyway in the next few weeks – but nobody at the club or in India will confirm this, leading to fresh confusion and anger among fans. Rumours that compensation remains the only sticking point cannot be confirmed.
This is not the first time that Kean has apparently been on the brink only to be spared by Mrs Desai. To Sportingintelligence
’s knowledge, he has been close to the sack at least three previous times only to argue successfully he should stay – or have unconfirmed other parties make that case on his behalf.
Sportingintelligence called Mrs Desai at her family home in Pune, India, this morning to ask about Kean’s situation. A secretary said she would return the call but this has not happened at the time of writing.
Kean said earlier today he had held ‘positive and constructive’ talks with the owners.
On Tuesday, Venky’s ‘global advisor’ Shebby Singh, said he had ‘no comment’ to make about Kean’s long-term future but that Kean would remain in charge for this weekend’s match against Charlton.
Singh has declined to comment further.
Blackburn director Paul Agnew said earlier this week that he had no knowledge that Kean was about to be sacked.
Anderson has not responded to messages. Rovers MD Derek Shaw is away today and unavailable for comment.
Blackburn were relegated from the Premier League under Kean last season and are currently third in the Championship with 14 points from seven games.
Crowds at Ewood Park have plunged this season, raising concerns over the club’s income streams. Blackburn have no shirt sponsor and a fractured relationship with other sponsors and local businesses.
Singh took day-to-day control of the club as the owners’ hands-on representative in England over the summer. He is understood to favour a change of manager, as do both Mrs Desai’s brothers and co-owners, Balaji and Venky.
The brothers, along with virutally all senior club and Venky’s insiders, have urged managerial change on multiple occasions during the past 14 months but Mrs Desai has always overruled them to keep Kean in place.
Mrs Desai is known to want to improve relations with fans groups. Via Shebby Singh she has told one supporters’ group that if they nominate three Rovers fans who need ‘life-changing medical treatment’, then Venky’s will arrange and pay for such treatment.
What many fans would rather see is a new manager and a fresh start but it remains unclear when such change might happen.

A boycott is being organised for the Wolves game, with an ad for the LT being prepared right now. All fans have the right to do what they choose but a show of solidarity by season ticket holders by their non-attendance, for just this single match, will send a clear message to Venky's regarding the financial consequences of keeping Kean in charge.

The £3 million Hoillett money should now provide the necessary means for payng Kean off. I presume that is what the Venky's have been waiting for. It will be money well spent to rid us forever of this odious creature.

Kean quits! Blackburn boss forced out after Venky's try to interfere with teamBy Matt LawtonPUBLISHED: 19:09, 28 September 2012 | UPDATED: 19:22, 28 September 2012
Steve Kean’s turbulent 22 months in charge of Blackburn came to an end on Friday when he quit as the Championship club’s manager.
Sources at Ewood Park have told Sportsmail he decided to walk out because he believed the club’s Indian owners were trying interfere in his team selection before Saturday's match at Charlton.

How can you say it has been a positive week and expect to be taken seriously? If this has been a positive week what does it take to make a negative week? (I suppose lending your life savings to the defensive coach would do it.)
I was not going to say the following until I read Kean's insulting drivel, but I had a dream that I was at the Charlton game and all the fans were chanting "Kean Out", when all of a sudden Kean reached Inside his ghastly MacIntosh and pulling out a revolver put it to his temple and blew his head off! Now I will be going to the Charlton game and no doubt the fans will be chanting "Kean Out".........

Then we can get Alan Shearer as manager. He'd be good.
We should also keep Colin Hendry on because he won the League with Shearer.
Hendry would be especially good for getting the beers in and getting smashed out of his head, tanked up on 9% lager and being so sh1t faced he loses all his money and then bullies his elderly neighbours into handing over their life savings.
EVERY club needs a total degenerate alcoholic f*uck like Hendry.
