Givet fit for Rovers test

GAEL Givet is expected to be fit for Blackburn's home game with Middlesbrough tomorrow night.

The Frenchman has recovered from the dead leg that forced him to miss Tuesday's win over Barnsley.

Givet is the man. It terms of heart, determination and overall defensive quality he's not just a warrior but a true warrior-killer and should be a guaranteed starter for each game, club captain material me thinks.

Now we just need someone to play with him at the back.

Easiest decision you put Hanley on the bench. He is simply not good enough. That said Dann is not much better and Orr is poor too. Says a lot for our defence really and its no surprise we are conceding and looking so uncertain. I fear the defence will be our achilles heel this year as every good team is built on sound foundations.
The final piece in our team is a good solid experienced centre half.

Of the three, Hanley is the weakest link, so we've got to go with Dann and Givet with the current squad. Alternatively we could use the new guy instead of Dann, but I haven't seen him play ( although the coaching staff have - which doesn't count for anything really ) Givet is a similar player to Hendry, but even Hendry needed a good reader of the game alongside him. It needs sorting by a loan deal, or if not, in the January window. It's a confidence thing at the moment, which hopefully will resolve itself. Week in, week out, you see Premier league top defenders making mistakes, it's a very difficult position to fill.

Danns been our best defender this year. Quality player. Its the Givets who knock it long and allow wave after wave of attack that need fixing.

I'm afraid that with Murphy in midfield, knocking it long is currently sometimes the only option. In the Barnsley game, Etuhu played deep to cover the inability of Murphy to retain possession, similarly with Dann covering Hanley. Ok, Pedersen also loses the ball, but in less dangerous positions, as does Rochina. But Pedersen, with his dead ball ability, goal assists and the odd goal, brings far more to the team than Murphy. Put Pedersen alongside Etuhu, drop Kean's best mate and put a bit of pace, skill and ball retention in front of those 2. Defending starts at the front, there is currently no cover in front of the back 4.

Excellent news that Givet is fit to play.

I say give him the captains armband, Murphy does not deserve it and Dann is still sulking.

Givet would organise the defence far better than our ' defensive coach ' Hendry the Horrible could do.

Etuhu played far to deep against Barnsley and was ineffective, partly due to the ineptness of ' loads of money' Murphy. Does not contribute enough for me.

I think Givet is well liked amomgst the players, bar one or two and i think it would be a positive move in trying to improve an what has been the worst defending i have seen for many years from a Rovers team.

Think the Middlesboro team might be the first to get anything at Ewood even though there away record is awful.

Kean Disappear = Fans Reappear

just a thought.... instead of protesting why dont we organise for one game only to pack ewood and get behind the team to show venkys what they could have every week....just feel it'd be more effective to show em what they're missing but obviously an organised thing so they're aware what the aim is....

i dont know maybe i just feel low gates are what they expect and arent seeing the big picture

Givet will be welcomed back but it will be interesting who pays the price for Tuesday's poor performance,despite the win.
We were awful for large parts of the game on Tuesday.Kean's infactuation with Pederson is baffling.He's like one of those American Football special team players who you would only whell on for a corner or free kick.Other than that he's useless.I honestly cannot recall a player passing to the opposition as much as he did on Tuesday night,and I'm including at local league level.And to be fair he did most of last season too.
The midfield is crying out for some pace - Pederson,Murphy,Etuh
u and Formica must be the slowest midfield unit in the history of professional football! I think that's what Rhodes was hinting at in his comments about 'going for it'.Play Nunes on the left tomorrow night and get at them!

sad to see murphy so poor. he looked unhappy against hull and was arguing with dunn pre game. he was well off it v leeds. legs dont work so has to be well positioned all the time. shame, i used to think he was really good. kean signed him though so he is guaranteed. when they are no good, as alex f said, its easy.... get rid of the c****. kean has not got a clue...sack him

yeah i get you but like i said if they arent getting the point now and theres still that 11 or 12k going then it aint gonna work imo its better announcing pre match what we are doing then the following game the boycott it then think they might on abit....

Its a tough one to call who's worse dann or hanley? Its no suprise we conceded so many last year and this year with a defence like ours, surely Hendry needs to go... Think nunes should start before pedersen and get at boro for a easy three points saying that Kean might park the bus, he's tactically inept just hope he starts with two strikers this time don't think he even knows what he's gonna do...

The problem we have is that we are trying to pass it like Swansea and the players aren't good enough. We keep giving it away. Hanley is far worse than Dann in this respect. Murphy has been the biggest disappointment to me he had some decent games against us but looks slow and has not delivered a killer pass - too many sideways and backwards. Tugay at 40 would be miles better!!

Totally agree, think murphy should be dropped for rochina in a more attacking role, murphy without his legs is inadequate really he used to be good going forward but seems past it, ethuhu sitting in front of the back four can do the job and maybe give one of the boys a run out the problem is we haven't been comfortable enough yet

Amazing that all knowledgeable Rovers fans can seethe problem with having Pedersen & Dunn & Murphy in the squad....their experience counts for nothing EXCEPT they are "laughing all the way the the bank"
All have foxed conman Kean into signing them & keeping them....YET the midfield is for players with energy and bit and vision.
You can afford mabe one "experiened" midfielder....BUT NO THREE !!!!
Was the same last season...lossing the ball, poor distribution and not energy/ability to put the opposition under pressure.
Orr is another one that is laughing his way to the bank each week...has sucked conman Kean in, YET he is not good enough and NO WAY his he he future for the club....
He can obviously very good at blowing his own trumpet, of course !!!

Dann should go some Premier teams still want him they obviously havent watched him god knows if Kean ever saw him play. Hanley is younger so has an excuse and Hendry feels he will become a top defender,Givet is an higher class of player Orr is pathetic did Kean watch him or do these players pop up on a computer programme that says available to Blackburn? Pederson does not influence a game more than Murphy at all he constantly miss-controls the ball and just cannot pass and has no pace to get past a player he should be on the bench for late free kicks.I do think our players would look better if Kean wasnt manager has all the newer players look well motivated compared with last years players.they must recall their old manager's team talks lets hope their memories dont fade and they listen to the drivel Kean utters..

There are a lot on here slating Danny Murphy yet when I watched the Rovers at Bristol City he was bang-on his game. He and Etuhu both looked good and Murphy played some killer balls into Rhodes and Nunes and Olsson(s). He has a quite laid-back playing style and maybe that is what people are seeing and not seeing the excellent passing or openings he finds to play the forwards in...or maybe he just had one good game and that was what I saw. Excellent for us Rovers exiles that the game is on SKY tonight.....another win is on the cards to cement the top of the table position,...just hope we can tighten the defense up to make the win easier than any so far this season!

Ever since Dann arrived and the Admiral was "forced out" our defending has been sloppy at best, even with Samba we were very suspect. Givet is the 'Daddy' at the moment as mentioned in one of the first posts.

Why do our fans persist in ringing talk sport to justify their hatred of Kean? The fan on this morning could not express himself properly so it made our case to get rid of Kean look pathetic with other clubs fans slagging us off and we are now tarred with being the worst fans in football.
I think we should have a verbally eloquent spokesperson to contact the radio or media as if we stammer how way through the questions we will look sick as we do now,Alan Brazil and Chicken look at us at the top of the league and cannot understand why we are not praising Kean and the fan this morning said he hoped we would lose 4 matches to get rid of Kean which gave them and the rest of the world the hump just as I het the hump when I hear about people not coming to Ewood because of Kean.Why dont they just look at themselves and say is that the real reason?Or is it the cost that is an issue maybe its because they are part time supporters and not fans.

Givet was missed against barnsley.He makes our defence more solid.THE Barnsley game was entertaining with 3 quality goals.Our midfield play was too slow and predictable.It.is a concern that barnsley moved the ball about better than we did.The best part of the game came in last 15 minuteswith 3 cameo performances that were a joy to watch.FIRSTLY Gomes who gave the excellent Rhodes the support he needs,Nunes who provided the cross of the game and finally Perkins of Barnsley who showed us the art of finding space.pass and move,and never giving the ball away.With GIVET3-0 win..thanks Mike
