Just what we need....a young prolific, British forward. Just a decent defender now please.

He needs a big striker along side him and a pacey winger for the supply, Then all we need is a new manager and we should be OK.

Very pleased with the last few days of transfer activity. I feel we have secured some exciting some talent.

Rosado looks the part on the youtube clips I have seen of him, a good passer with great vision and looks as though he keeps his game very simple, which is key to many good footballers.

Henrique, the defender looks as though he provide cover for our main centre-backs and I feel will be bloodied in the games against lesser opposition.

And of course Mr Jordan Rhodes, who has more or less signed the doted line. This in my opinion will be a fantastic signing, he is strong, fairly pacey and has that crucial eye for goal. I know people have said he is unproven in a higher league but to them I say, who can't score 40 odd goals in League 1 and not be a pretty good player and with 2 games in the Championship he has scored 2 goals, one of which was against Burnley who for this League are still a good team (I know I will get stick for this) hence why I believe provided he gets the service (Of which Kean will really show if he has the management skills to change the team to suit Rhodes because the service the rest of the team has provided for the forwards so far has been woeful) he will get the goals we need to fire us back to the PL.

One thing I will say is that I still feel we need some extra cover across the back-line, I feel it is adequate barring several injuries. Kirk Broadfoot has just been released from Rangers due to their monetary issues, I feel this lad would be a shrewd acquisition as he naturally plays as a right-back but can equally play at left-back or centre-back, he also has European football experience which would be very handy, thoughts?

Well at least we seem to be showing some ambition with this signing. Although he is a little untride at this level and not too sure if he is the type of player to get us up and out of this league, he's certainly one for the future. Could be a good signing. Lets hope he does the job.

Noticed that Broadfoot had been released - completely agree he would be a good signing but I cant see it happening. Adam Henley should be given a chance I think, can play both sides of the back four

The signing of Rhodes is a major coup for Rovers, of course he is a risk, but every signing is a risk. Torres and Andy Carroll were bought for huge sums, but were still a massive risk that up to now haven't come off.

One clown kept posting on this page that Kean had ruined any possible signing of Rhodes by making the bid public knowledge, when it was clear that the only way to get Rhodes was to put it in the press and try to unsettle him. But as ever on this page the negative cynical experts will never admit it when they are wrong.

I knew nothing about Richards when he signed, I looked on this page for some info and all but one post said that he had only played for Bury and was rubbish. Even half-fit he looks a very good player. Again not one of our negative experts that post here admitted they were wrong.

It's time people started to judge every situation on it's merits and not have a blanket hatred of Kean. It is very clear that the administration of the club is far better this year.

I agree with Andy Cryer's assessment of the signings, we definitely lack pace in the team. As I said before i am not a Danny Murphy fan, but it looks like he can do a job in this division. The signings of Best, Etutu, Richards and Rhodes look to be very good signings even though Best got injured. I don't like any of the Portuguese signings, they all look very ordinary players and it doesn't look the best way to encourage our very good young players.

The stupid boycotts and failed demonstrations will never cost Kean his job, but his negative tactics could cost him his job. Will he continue to play one up front? It seems to me that these tactics can only work if you have a Drogba up front or a Shearer, it takes a great player to make it successful.

Rhodes and Richards can obviously score goals, but will the manager's tactics provide the opportunities?

This has to go down as a positive, this kid scores goals and will get better, but also we have prised him away from a rival in the league, for sure this lad would have scored a hatful for huddersfield and probably a hat trick against us. What i would really love to know is who is really getting these signings in, I suspect Shebby is behind these not Mr. Kean. He made some comments during the fans forum about the fact that he had brought players in, if this is the case then hats off to him, he might be as mad as a box of frogs but he does seem to be trying. It would be interesting to see what would happen if we all started singing "Shebbys blue and white army". Might help him win the internal struggle obviously going on down at Ewood

It's not Kean's signing, it's Singh's.

Kean had his targets set much, much lower - like Luke Moore at WBA.

MxMave says...
12:24pm Thu 30 Aug 12

My concern is, has Martin Ollson been sold hence the upping of the offer?

Will Kean play 4-4-2 now that we have a decent crop of strikers? I doubt it. The squad sheet should look like this at home:

-Robbo-
-Lowe- -Givet- -Dann- -NEW LB-
-Ollson- -Murphy- -Etuhu- -Formica-
-Goodwillie- -Rhodes-

With that team we would surely win promotion but I doubt Kean has the balls to risk loosing a game by only playing 4 midfielders.

srvp28 says...
12:30pm Thu 30 Aug 12

£20 going on Rhodes finishing the season as the Championship's top scorer, £10 going on Rhodes scoring a hat-trick against Burnley.

Seeing as how Kean opts for a 4-4-1-1, both home and away, I'm guessing that CKR might be switched to his natural position on the right, with Gomes or Dunn sitting behind Rhodes.

Sorry, cornish rover, but apparently this is Singh's doing, not Kean's.

hhhmmmmmnnn, unfortunately, it probably wouldn't also pay for the compensation kean would most likely lay a claim to.
i think the chances are we would most likely be improved by bringing a new manager in, but he's not set to go at this point.
at least we are starting to put together a decent set of individuals, who could possibly help us challenge this year. if kean can also learn a few lessons tactically, we could develop into a threat. the first few games have not been too reassuring, but we have won 2 and drawn 1 of the league games so far, so if we can improve then maybe, just maybe, we can claw our way back to something resembling a decent side.

Doesn't make you any more or less a Rovers fan than anyone else, I couldn't stay away, you could.
At the end of the day we both want the same thing, Kean to go, Rovers to be successful, we just have different ways of doing things.

We have to be realistic though, we have useless owners, no sponsorship, half the fans not turning up and when they do Ewood turns into a bear pit at the drop of a hat.

I can't think of one single manager who would be stupid enough to take that on, apart from someone as thick skinned as Kean.

I am really concerned that this season is "last chance saloon" for the club, Venky's are finding money from somewhere but with no sponsors and falling gates money must be draining out of the club like tap-water, no matter how well we to on the pitch there is only one way we are going, Portsmouth spring to mind.

Getting rid of Kean now might just start the ball rolling in the right direction, it might just put 5000+ on the next home gate and create some atmosphere, help restore some pride.

I am not holding my breath.

It would not take a thick skinned manager to take over. The instant Kean is sacked the stayaway fans would return. Because it will work out better letting him play one season for Rovers then buy him next season, when he has had a bit of experience with a former premiership club playing at a higher levelnd not just bench warming in the Premiership.

Fantastic signing. We'll be able to sell him on for a few mill more, which is probably why Venky's have sanctioned it.

I agree with the guy that said it would be nice to see Goodwillie and Rhodes up top together. Both know where the goal is and both could score loads.

Lets go back to the old days - two wingers, two strikers, two holding midfielders.

Martin Olsson left, Ruben Rochina right?

Unfortunately I cannot get to away matches, family committment.
But I have found I can watch them on't'internet. Thereby saving myself paying into the Venky's pension fund. So I will be watching deveopment with interest as Rhodes and the other new lads gel together as a team. That wayI am getting my fix of the Rovers without actively supporting Kean. As soon as he leaves I will be down to Ewood Park, cash in hand reluctantly giving my money to the Venky's but certain in the knowledge they will not make the same mistake again in appointing a useless manager. ( I hope).

Its called people power. If every-one stayed away for the next home match (against the mighty Barnsley) who does not believe the evil one would not be sacked by the next match? Simples. All stay away, Keen wll be sacked and the Indians will save face by blaming the fans.

Good posts and fair comment for me
I too am waiting for the naysayers to admit they were wrong about Rhodes and the bs theories about it being s ploy to get the fans back.
I wont hold my breath though.
Long way to go but the plan looks to be coming together.
But the negative posters will keep trying to sow discontent but isnt it becoming too obvious now that they do not want success(read comments on here).
Best signing since Matty J or who knows, even Shearer? But no they wont " come back" because they hate Kean.
Fine, as most are plastic boycotters and Dingles they cant be missed and the real fans who are staying away will come back with a winning side.
Last but not least SK cannot fail now as the money spent leaves him with no excuses if we dont win, so it is a win win for us fans
Please hold your breath, it would make a big difference to a lot of people's happiness.

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you ever watched a football match?
Apart from Bumley that is.

I'm a glory hunter & will be staying away until either Kean goes or he wins the Champions League. No, only joking. wouldn't come back then if he & the majority of the rest of the scum are still in charge. As for JR, lookes like a positive but overpriced gamble. If he's a Shebby signing, that doesn't look good as Kean will be pre-disposed to make him fail and/or avoid playing him. Might have gone to Leeds but I'm not at home. But i'm looking forwards to Asda on Saturday pm.

Shebby did say after the meeting that he is persistent and wont give the chase up for Rhodes. He even stated he would request face to face meeting with the Huddersfield owner. Well done Shebby for your persistence, ambition and great signing.

There are quite a few on here who keep on about us stay-aways. I really do believe that without us staying away the Venkys would not have put their hands in their pockets. The empty blue seats has shocked them into action as they could see their investment going down the tubes..

Its called people power. If every-one stayed away for the next home match (against the mighty Barnsley) who does not believe the evil one would not be sacked by the next match? Simples. All stay away, Keen wll be sacked and the Indians will save face by blaming the fans.
Oh my word, you been drinking the same stuff as Keanochio, now you are trying to take credit for Venkys paying 8 million for a player on you boycotting!!!
Bizzarre. Deluded.

Wild Rover..... You need to get real! I am no"plastic boycotter nor a Dingle" .......I have supported Rovers for many , many years in all leagues but I will stay out until Kean is gone! Some of us are doing the right thing ....the only thing that Venky's can actually see is......empty seats .His departure would bring me and the REAL supporters back the following game . Don't call me plastic, call me real! I am delighted with signing of Rhodes and look forward, one day to seeing him play for a manager who I can respect. I will be at Leeds Wild Rover will you?
The only way Wolves got rid of the Bhatti Brothers was to stay away. And it worked. Eventually.
Yep they only had to wait until the got in division 3.
I wonder if some of the Premier League Glory Hunters will come back now all the assest stripping nonesense has been laid to waste?

Spending 8 million on a young player under the management of Steve Kean will not make me return to Ewood. You seem to have difficulties in understanding the real issues dont you and judge everybody by your own fickle standrds. You more than anybody talk like you have the decision making skills of a primary school child. Give us some credit for knowing our own minds
No, a primary school child doesn't stick with a team thick and thin, they desert, like a premier league glory hunters.
There's nothing like knowing your own mind is there? I thought you were being led along by a bunch of welders and a dog. Me,
I'm far too intelligent to be led by someone who cracks one off. And I have the psychometric test scores to prove it. In fact I'll prove my theory correct.
I bet you the next home game has a bigger attendance than the last. I will stake my reputation, of always being correct on it. Will you do likewise?
Yours truly
one of the 8000 soon to be more.
A primary school child calls their fellow classmates names, such as ''Premier League Glory Hunter'.

As for staking your reputation on the next home game having a larger attendance than the last, don't be so smug. It's obvious that, as the season goes on, some fans will start to come back. You don't need a high psychometric test score to realise that so you're not proving anything by making such a statement.

If anything your only proving your 'Premier League Glory Hunters' theory wrong. Now surely that can't be right as you are always correct, yes?
