Rovers set to take Pole chance

POLISH international goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski will start a three-day trial at Blackburn Rovers today – to pave the way for Mark Bunn’s Ewood Park exit.

The 22-year-old Genk stopper was due in England last night and is being lined up as Bunn’s replacement, with Norwich negotiating a fee for the Rovers reserve keeper.

Sandomierski’s arrival looks like being the start of a busy week for Rovers as they look to fine tune their squad ahead of the close of the transfer window.

Having all but conceded defeat in their pursuit of Huddersfield hot shot Jordan Rhodes, boss Steve Kean remains desperate to land a striker before Friday night’s deadline.

It is understood enquiries will be made as to the availability of Southampton striker Ricky Lambert but sources close to the Saints have told the Lancashire Telegraph Rovers will be firmly rebuffed.

Sunderland teenager Connor Wickham is interesting Kean, on a potential loan deal, but it is understood the club are searching for a more experienced goal scorer, with a significant cash pot available to land one.

Swansea City striker Luke Moore is also on the radar, with enquiries made about him over the weekend, but Rovers are only in the market for one more striker – unless one of their current forward line move on.

Rovers are also hoping to add another centre back to the squad.

Sandomierski has won three full caps for Poland and was included in their Euro 2012 squad this summer.

He signed a five-year deal with Belgian oufit Racing Genk in 2011 but spent some of last season on loan at former club Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Providing he impresses and Rovers able to agree a fee with Genk, Sandomierski is expected to replace Bunn, who has handed in a transfer request in the wake of a rejected bid from Norwich City.

Kean is playing hit and hope in the transfer market. Pathetic that we leave it till the last week of the transfer window to realise we need to strengthen the defence. After last season it should have been obvious where our problems lay. Same old Kean, always incompetent.
Kean out now

It is hard to work out the logic and wisdom in these possible moves.
What money is being made and by whom....
Why the last minute panic buying...is this simply the cheap end of the transfer market !!??
First time there has been an indication of needing a defender...it sure will be interesting to see the caliber of the players bought this week....and will they be able to hit the ground running !!!

Yes and we'll end up with some defender nobody else wants, as the better defenders who were available will have been fixed up weeks ago.
Looks like Bunn's on his way and that's another £ million windfall for Venkys' to pocket.

Kean says he wants a central defender, does that mean he has finally realised the need to bolster the defence or is it because one or more defenders will be leaving Rovers this week?

Venkys,Kean, Singh and the whole sorry lot of them are incompetent captain which is why inevitably we will be in the championship for the forseable future. All the talk of 4 million bids for Rhodes and Lambert is just bluff talk to fool the Blackburn supporters mark my words the only players likely to arrive if any will be loan players and second rate ones at that .Kean out Venkys out Singh out!

Was it about a mo th ago that Kean told us all, in his wisdom, that we would not be making any signings in a panic?

Get a solid tall, build, fast runner, experianced, FIT player to the team, Why we are again going for a teenager like Connor Wicham, then Goodwille and Rochia is good enough and Eldino Jr. is also there to build the young talent team, All these players are short and not FIT for 90mts.

anybody remember being told that we were going to be doing all our ins and out business early so we could concentrate on developing the squad?

I'm not defending Keannochio - why would I - but the reality is that we might want players but other clubs simply won't sell unless we bid above the odds. So he might have wanted to transact all the business early doors but reality might dictate the opposite. All that said they have definitely pratted about with the Rhodes scenario and really irritated Huddersfield along the way. I think it will prove tough to find an experienced goalscorer at this level without paying big brass and the same applies to a central defender. A long hard week ahead!

I dont know why do people keep going on about defenders we have plenty.

Right Back we have: Henley, Lowe, Orr,

CB: Dann, Givet, Hanley, Etuthu (in case of emergency), Orr

LB: Josh Morris, Martin Olsson, Henley, and Ribiero has had a decent pre season.

It is just Kean don't know how to organise them.

Like Dallydally said above, to be fair we had lots of activity in the beginning of the window, we signed 9 players - you might not like them but we did sign them.

Also as the window progresses and when other transfers happen various new players come into the picture who were not available or affordable earlier so it is a good idea not to sign all your players early in the window.

we still have the same problems as last season. No leftback, still leave a big gap between midfield and defence allowiing the opposition to cut through us.A glut of small lightweight players that are neither midfield or strikers that are difficult to fit into a team.We need a strong target man who can hold the ball .Do we have alternatives for Murphy and Gomes if they cant cope with 90 minutes twice a week? I worry what will happen against the better teams when our luck runs out
