Blackburn Rovers increase bid for Rhodes

BLACKBURN Rovers have increased their offer for Huddersfield hot-shot Jordan Rhodes.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands Rovers are hopeful this third offer for the striker will be enough to land the 22-year-old.

Rhodes did not feature in Huddersfield's defeat to Cardiff this evening, with manager Simon Grayson claiming he is injured.

500,000 plus 6 mill if we get promoted just won't cut it. It'd better be a serious offer this time instead of that crock last time. They must have at least 10 mill leftfrom the sale of hoilett yak and samba. Get yer money out yer tightwads.

If he's as sensible as he seems, he will stay well away from us, i dont want to see another quality young players morale get destroyed by Kean(like-Rochina, godwillie, petrovic, nzonz,wtc...), he should wait until xmas and try to get a move to the prem.

and yes im a rovers fan.

hopefully we can get him, nuno gomes can teach him some stuff from all the experience he has and if we do get him we will definatlely be up there for promotion, i still think we will finish 1st because the players we have are basically the same from the prem just without samba hoilett and yakubu

A decent signing if he comes, but to play for SK he could spend his first season on the bench knowing what he has done with other signings!!

I do wish that Blackburn Rovers would do their transfer dealings with dignity, and honesty - and not through the media.
It's despicable and belittles the club, whose reputation is becoming worse literally every day.
If Jordan is going anywhere it will be nowhere near the present Rovers set-up.

I think this would be a good deal. Although not the finished article, this is a player who has proved himself competent at this level. Rovers are still a bigger club than Huddersfield and will be back in the PL once they get a decent manager in.

bigger club than huddersfield maybe, but I'm ashamed to concede that we'll be lucky if we finish above the dingles

Grayson still saying no-one has come close to their valuation. While it is obvious why they would try and get the highest amount they can,you just hope we are putting in a serious 3rd bid that will make it impossible to refuse!

The players package....(steady) would have nothing to do with the initial bid and would be discussed with the player and his agent once permission is given from the parent club. Where did you get this info from??

I find it quite amusing the amount of positivity this is causing. I/we have seen many, many one season wonders come and go.
Not really tested at this higher level yet and coming into a team of questionable 'direction'.
Yes on paper it looks an ambitious move. But, we are still led by a rookie trying his best to be a manager with a fragmented structure within the club.

It is still for me, regardless who comes and goes, lets just see where we are come mid Sept/Oct.

If we are up there, fine. If we are I as suspect mid table - 8th/9th, then given the contracts handed out to many players the balance sheet will need serious deliberation.

A saner planet than you mate.....I was hoping he would sign before the game not to play - but so to boost the teams (and fans) morale at a great new signing - and speed us on to hammer the tractor boys. Try to think things through before you post!

Welcome to the corrupt world of football , tapping up players goes on in all divisions of football, and your man will be just the latest to have is head turned by other clubs, including Blackburn.

Just shows how far we have fallen, when signing a player from Huddersfield, could be described as a coup.

If he's being called another Shearer, then why are no other bigger clubs reported to be after him? He's never played in the championship. He would be jumping into a circus at Rovers, witheverything thats going on. He's a decent player but he's defo no Shearer. Get Ross Barkley on loan from Everton, now there's a good young quality player.

speedie_rovers_legend says...
11:15am Sun 19 Aug 12

Talk about double standards and being a hypocrite Steve kean certainly is just that , after complaining about the rovers supremo sheaby singh upsetting is plans for the coming season regarding comments about himself being sacked if he should lose three games on the bounce , he now unsettles Jordan Rhodes and huddersfield towns plans for the coming season, this manger should be brought before the fa and censured for the tapping up of players from other clubs.

clitheroe blue boy says...
10:43pm Sun 19 Aug 12

We all know Kean is a P***k who even tried to blame Rovers fans for spiking his drink in a Whalley pub after the Man Utd game last year, when he got done for drink driving! No morals and no idea how to manage. If he had a shred of decency he would have walked a long time ago. KEAN OUT.

srvp28 says...
11:43pm Sun 19 Aug 12

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that when asked about the club's initial bid for Rhodes, Kean stated that they'd made an offer but if they were told, by Huddersfield, that the player was categorically not for sale, Rovers would respect their decision and move on. Huddersfield have said he's not for sale yet the club still continue to try and unsettle the player. In public no less! It makes me even more embarrassed to be associated with his club.

Because HTFC got stuffed on Friday, so he might just realise that Championship rivals we ain't, so BRFC would be a decent stepping stone.
