Blackburn Rovers new boy Kazim-Richards unaffected by unrest at Ewood Park
10:13am Wednesday 15th August 2012 in News
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
COLIN Kazim-Richards insists Blackburn Rovers ’ Premier League promotion bid won’t be derailed by in-house fighting as he looks to help to take the pressure off the club.
Rovers’ eighth summer signing has already experienced the unrest that has been around Ewood Park for almost two years now but, ahead of Saturday’s Championship opener at Ipswich, is adamant it won’t affect what happens on the field.
Global advisor Shebby Singh’s comments about Morten Gamst Pedersen and Steve Kean caused waves over the weekend, as the squad stood behind their team mate and manager, but Kazim-Richards is already just focused on the future.
The Turkish international is likely to start the weekend’s big kick off leading the line at Portman Road as Rovers continue to struggle to find another replacement for Leon Best.
An enquiry to take Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on loan was yesterday rebuffed by the Gunners and, with interest in Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes unlikely to pay dividends either, Rovers will look elsewhere for more firepower.
Portuguese midfielder Diogo Rosado is still expected to sign this week, despite picking up a hamstring injury, as Rovers look to finalise a compensation fee with Sporting.
Kazim-Richards said: “Everyone knows it is difficult times here, there is nothing to hide. Everybody knows that certain people are not getting along, but for me, it is all about football.
“For me hopefully and everyone else it is about being part of a winning team and doing something I haven’t done. Getting promotion to the Premier League would be unbelievable.
“I have been in this game a long time and I have been in situations 20 times worse than what this looks like to the media and to the outside.
“It goes on in the game, it is just you don’t see it on the TV. For me, it is really just getting my boots on and getting going at Ipswich.
“We are here to take the pressure off everyone, not just the manager. We want to take the pressure off the fans, so they can start enjoying the game again.
“That is football pressure and that is the best there is. We have the players to do that, it is all about gelling but we are professional footballers and that comes naturally.”
Kazim-Richards, who has joined on a season-long loan from Galatasaray, knows Rovers still have to win sections of Ewood Park around.
But, having experienced the atmosphere of Turkey, he insists he can cope with what could be to come.
“I am used to tense atmospheres,” said the Galatasaray loanee. “I am used to all those signs people are putting out, I am used to a banner going round the whole stadium calling for the president out.
“I am used to it, not to say it is acceptable because, I don’t want to get in the middle of it, but a lot of it isn’t acceptable. It is hard not to take it personally. You have to remember everyone is trying to do their job. In this job it is hard to get results.
“We all want the same. So lets just all get together and what a force we can be. We all want the same, believe me, trust me.
“Sometimes in life you have to take a step back to take two forward. There is a view to a permanent move but that is nine months away. I am not a loan player, I am not a bit part player. I am part of this team.
“With me you get everything. I am here to do the job, if the team fails, I fail. I don’t think of it as I am not failing because I am on loan. I am here to get Blackburn Rovers back in the Premier League. That’s it.”

I didn’t attend the meeting last Saturday. But I watched and listened in dumb found amazement on Sky Tv Sport News. I refer of course to the now infamous and regrettable Fans Forum at King Georges Hall addressed by Rovers new GLOBAL ADVISOR (whatever that means) SHEBBY SINGH.(pic above)
As everyone who follows my website knows I am not in any shape or form a Steve Kean fan, in fact I haven’t a good word for him, he has ruined my club, but this public attack by Shebby Singh was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed in all my 50 plus years of following football. What was the man thinking??
Let me first of all establish that I generally agree with Shebby’s sentiments, but there is a way to go about things and a time and a place to say them. This very public platform was neither.
Shebby Singh flanked by members of the Blackburn Rovers action group gave the impression of the leaders of a Lynch Mob. This is not how we want Blackburn Rovers to be run. Once again we are the laughing stock of the football world as they look on in continued amazement, as this once proud old club sinks further into the mire.
Shebby Singh obviously wants rid of Kean, like we all do, but almost destroyed any hopes he has of achieving that objective.
If Kean didn’t know before he had an enemy he knows now. I pointed out the rift between Kean and Singh on this website two weeks ago when I posted article WHO IS THE MANAGER AT EOOD PARK on 1st August 2012.
But I never in my wildest dreams thought it would emerge so publically, so soon, without a ball even been kicked.
Shebby Singh has been brought into the club by Ventkatesh and Balaji Rao to rid them of Kean, they haven’t the bottle to do it themselves. They tried and failed in May but were firmly put in their place by sister Anuradha ( I like to be entertained) Desai. Now big sister has the perfect excuse to get rid of Shebby Singh and I have no doubt she will, I give him a month, at the most.
Steve Kean is a ‘wily old fox’, he has seen off most of his enemies within Ewood, deputy chief executive Paul Hunt, the fans Allie, being the latest. If you don’t have the cunning that Kean posses you don’t conspire successfully to rid the club of an established and proven Premier league manager like Allardyce, as Kean did.
You don’t survive the wishes of chairman John Williams and Chief executive Tom Finn, both who successfully guided Rovers for over 14 years, to have you sacked only to turn the tables and have them dismissed as Kean did. Shebby Singh is up against a clever and cunning man, Kean is seething and will now conspire to under mind Singh. I can see only one result as in the case of Paul Hunt, Singh will go, Kean will stay. It is apparent they both cannot stop at the club.
Blackburn Rovers action group should never have put Shebby Singh in this position. Shebby Singh on the other hand is to blame for his thoughtless comments and not keeping his own council and working quietly behind the scenes to rid the club of Kean.
Shebby Singh says “he was trying to bring the fans back closer to the club”. I think everyone knows that will only happen when Steve Kean departs. Until then Rovers have not got a prayer.
As to Singh’s comments regarding David Dunn and Morten Pederson having joined “the over the hill gang” perhaps he is right but I think there is a couple of seasons left in them and Shebby’s remarks were probably ‘tongue in cheek’.
As to the presence of the Sky TV cameras at the now infamous fans meeting what was that all about? Do Sky TV cover all fans forums throughout the country, I think not, this to me reeks of a SET UP. Unfortunately the only person to have been set up is Shebby Singh and as a result the fans could be losing yet again a close ally.
Reg.
Footnote:
Shebby Singh however has obviously got a sense of humor unlike Kean. And I couldn’t help but chuckle at his comment “I am often asked why Steve Kean was not sacked in May, my reply is I ask myself the same question every week”.

..fair play Kazim and very good points...however it is just so difficult to ignore the main culprit for failure on a footballing level, let alone the demise of the club and its fan base..one man named Kean has managed to win the lottery and keep his job...and with such ease. The point you make as us all being ONE and standing up to be counted in order to apparantly get back to where we belong...should really start with the 3 Indian owners and their muppet. If they stood as ONE from the beginning with the fans, sponsors, etc, then just maybe this whole shambolic affair may never have needed to happen!!

Playing every match with fitness is great that sitting in bench with big clubs. Kazim did a difficult journey in europe, now he will control his emotions in ground and focus with good football. He got a good chance from Best injury period of 6 months, where he can cement his attacking position with Gomes.
Hope he will fullfill his team and manager's ambition with his powerfull shoots.
Best Wishes for C.Kazim.

I'm sorry but how is this refreshing? After all, it's pretty much the same thing that Kean said just after we got relegated. I'm not going to knock the lad for wanting everyone to pull together but, like David Dunn a few weeks ago, his comments don't reflect the actual reasons why a lot of fans have decided to stay away. It's not results based anymore, it's an unfixable relationship between the manager and the vast majority of the club's supporters.
On one hand you can forgive the lad for his naive comments, largely due to the fact that he's been at the club less than a fortnight. However, for the same reason you can ask him why he's commenting on something that he clearly doesn't comprehend yet?

He is a footballer not a politician and his attitude is refreshing as he wants to do well here and not become emroiled with bitter fans.
Just support your club or just go and find another one if your unhappy.

So tell me, how does my not agreeing with a player doesn't understand the full extent of the situation make me a bad fan?
As for your, "...his attitude is refreshing as he wants to do well here and not become embroiled with bitter fans." comment, he's not the only player to have joined a club who wants to do well so it's not refreshing, it's expected as it's what he's paid to do. Also, if he doesn't want to become embroiled with bitter fans he'd do well not to comment on such matters until he has a full-grasp of the situation.
I support my team 100% and a patronising little pr*ck like you has no place telling me to find another club, especially when my original comments were nothing more than constructive criticism as opposed to the vitriolic bile you seem to aim at anybody who doesn't agree with whatever you say.

As he says, he is "used to all those signs", he is "used to a banner going round". He even says he is used to it being "20 times worse"
Therefore the players are giving the green light to not only continue with the protests but actually increase them. As Kazim-Richards says, they are normal.
Therefore no fans need to feel bad about shouting "Kean out". A very senior player is saying it is OK and normal. 20 times worse is even OK.
Happy days. Kean out. Shout it loud and proud safe in the knowledge that the players are happy with it. It's very normal to them.

Just like the rest of the squad and management structure, you jave no experience pf securing promotion from the Championship.
Not sure why the fans would be feeling pressure. The pressure is on the club to abide by 99% of fans wishes and ditch the managerial deadweight Kean and his cronies. The BS merchant has been trying for two seasons and still hasn't managed to get much right. We could give him until the next Olympics and we will more likely be in League One than the Premier League. The charlatan has been a proven deadweight since Charlie Adams almost beat us single-handedly. Any competent regime would have ditched Kean on the 23rd May 2011. Until he is gone this club will remain divided.
I would hardly call it refreshing to hear a loan player describe his move to our club as "two steps back". Just get on with the job that you are paid handsomely for. If you want to have the fans onside then drop the apologist routine.

We could be in for a some jostling for power and influence between Shabby and Kean. Kazim - on loan remember - is thick if he thinks the off field atmosphere doesn't affect team performance.
My money is still on Keano outlasting Shabby and Kazim, too.
It's noticeable that not one of the existing squad who has suffered Venkys and Kean for a season and a half has said any encouraging word about the situation at Ewood during the current brouhaha, it's been left to the newcomers, Kazim and Murphy.
Roll on those three defeats on the bounce.
Has Pele signed yet ? He speaks Portuguese and might help out with communications.

The only chance Shabby has to gain any credibility is to sack Kean the first chance he gets. Kill or be Killed and I think Shabby is a survivor!

I took Shebby to task over the comment of MGP then realized after the event that this was kinda stage managed for what reaction would occur ?
No firmer view was given as to S Singhs opinion on the state of all things down at Ewood.
The cat is amongst the pigeons and, for me, I hope SS comes out on top over this ?
Terrible state of affairs down at Ewood no matter how you dress this up !

Mr Morst is a fine up standing BRFC supporter who fights(non violence, of course) at the sharp end when it comes to his football club.
I kid you not !
Never as my view of BRFC been tarnished such as this disgraceful showing that belittles our club.
We are experiencing unprecedented times at Ewood alas I've taken the worst possible decision due to that which goes totally against the grain, but that is the way it is and I'm a very sad and now lonely football supporter pining for my beloved.
I know at least 60 people of long standing support of our club abstaining. A decision not taken lightly.
Terrible. :(

The fact remains that Morst has blown hot and cold down the years by his own admission and I am not in the least surprised that he wishes the team ill at this critical time.
As fans we have been even further disenfranchised (at at time when fans on the 'terraces' are already something of an irrelevance) by these owners and their appointed manager. It is unacceptable in our eyes but clearly not in theirs which speaks volumes of their lack of empathy with the Club they bought and its supporters in spite of their fine words.
However I will be a Rovers fan when they are long gone and I will be able to say 'my support never wavered, even during the darkest hours' and that will mean a lot to me.
All the best to you - I know that you are a true fan who has made a difficult decision.

And I wish you all the best in the decision you have taken.
Mr Morst reads negative but, I can verify his actions are of great benefit.
I began speaking with Mr Morst after reading his post some 5 years ago due to it's negative, but once we got chatting it soon became clear to me that bad things had happened to his view all things BRFC thus he began a fight back on that which he witnessed was a detriment for BRFC and it's supporters. I backed him with that. The result of which is apparent, but I won't go into that........
I don't always agree with his comments entirely, but I have to respect his view knowing that he views it as the best option in regaining his vision for BRFC.
Thanks again Lusorover your comment means a lot to me.

But you are right in terms of the last few years although I have been on Ewood every season I did for the first time in many years not always invest in an ST. In 2004 I campained to get ticket prices down and fill the stadium that Uncle Jack left us as I could see thousands dropping off because they could not afford the high prices for a family. It took about 4 years for John Williams to try out the idea fully but boy did it work when we sold 20K ST's in 2010 to equal the record in 1996 after the championship season? By a wicked twist of fate everything that could go wrong since then has!
.
Then I felt let down when Big Sam promise he would not play Bolton hoofball and then he did. But nothing prepared us for Venky's and Kean and the last 2 seasons. These are unpresedented times when 12,000 Rovers fans have walked away from ST's since 2010 so I don't think you can single me out lus in all fairness. Perhaps I am just getting Owd!

I didn't like Souness as a person but the club had a better feel about it in those days, the whole place stinks these days.I don't think kean will bring success but I don't want to lose any games.
