Rovers look to Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh

BLACKBURN Rovers look set to cool their interest in Huddersfield hot shot Jordan Rhodes – after enquiring about the availabilty of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.

Rovers have had two bids for the Scottish international rejected and have been warned off unceremoniously by the Terriers, who are adamant the striker won’t be sold to a Championship rival.

The Lancashire Telegraph now understands the only way interest in Rhodes will be revived is if the player himself tells Huddersfield he wants to speak to Rovers.

It is understood the 22-year-old would be keen on a switch to Ewood Park, with a bumper long-term deal believed to be on offer, but has so far been unable to discuss the move with Rovers.

Should Huddersfield grant the player permission to speak to Rovers, if he asks to, boss Steve Kean would be willing to resurrect Rovers’ bid, but the ball has now been placed very much in the player’s and Hudders-field’s court.

With Steve Kean insisting yesterday that Rovers were still in the market for another forward – despite Colin Kazim-Richards’ brace as the central striker on Sunday – efforts will be stepped up to boost their fire power from elsewhere.

Manchester City John Guidetti has already been enquired about but a £6million up front asking price is understood to have put them off, in the belief the Swede would be a bigger risk than Rhodes.

They have now turned their focus to Arsenal’s Morroccan striker Chamakh, in the hope he could be made available for a six-month loan deal.

The Lancashire Telegraph understand an enquiry was being made about the player yesterday as they look to add another striker before Saturday’s Championship opener at Ipswich.

Chamakh, 28, has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular since moving to Arsenal from Bordeaux in 2010.

The Morroccan international is likely to be pushed even further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, after Arsenal’s signing of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giraud, with Rovers hoping the lure of first team football could just tempt him into the Championship.

Meanwhile, Rovers are still waiting to complete the signing of Portuguese midfielder Diogo Rosado.

The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the club but negotiations are ongoing with Sporting about a compensation fee for his services.

Doubt very much that chamakh would want to drop to the championship, and even if Arsenal and Chamakh would agree to a move, I am certain an average premier league club would come in and gazump us. I also think Chamakh would prefer a move back to France (where he has been very successful), and I would summize that there are plenty of taker's there too.

Kean in Wonderland - again!

He has no idea what he is doing - or saying - from one day to the next.

We are going to have more strickers and midfield players than any other team in the league.

Kean will give them the job of watching from the bench as the defence carries on leaking goals. And that is if the defenders from last year stay, which may not happen.

The madness continues.

Only 3 defeats to go for Kean. He should be able to manage that in no time at all.

It has become like reading the Sun, or a national newspaper with all this speculative stuff.

I can say, yes I like the look of Chamakh. I think we might enquire about his availability.

I think this story is just speculation and has come from a national source.

About time we got something sorted. If Goodwillie gets loaned out to Hearts we are starting to look a bit thin up front all of a sudden with Best out and Blackman and Slew moved on.

I honestly think that Goodwillie and Gomes might make a decent partnership. Goodwillie knows how to find the back of the net he just needs a run of games. He runs the channels pretty well. And with Gomes as a pivot type player dropping deep, that could work very well, playing round the corner balls to Goodwillie running over the top.

constantly linking the club with big players and potential signings is just a way to keep the fans happy .... Steve Kean openly linked the club with Ronaldinho, Beckham, Adebayor, Rhodes etc .... and Chamackh is no different.

We have no realistic chance of getting any of these players ... we were never a rich and fashionable club when we were in the Premier League and we are certainly less so now that we are in the nPower Championship...

Before the January transfer window we were promised early activity with some Premier League experience being targeted .... we got a guy called Modeste on loan .... we got the obscure signing of Marcus Olsson .... and we got Bradley Orr (surplus at QPR)....

This season, Murphy, Best and Etuhu are good signings but they are has beens and we dont know if they are past their best ... easy targets and easy signings .... in addition to the 5 Portuguese unknowns we have signed, which includes a "young Gattuso" ....

Can I also stick a middle finger to those who want us to stop being negative .... we are all paying fans and have been our entire lives, so we have a right to vent our frustrations .... almost a year ago, Steve Kean told us to judge him after the transfer window was closed .... almost three transfer windows later we are about to embark on a season in the Championship .... why the hell should I be positive??

You can get all the experience and promising players you want ... if you dont have an experienced manager who can get the best out of them, then its a waste of money

Agree he is unlikely to join but I would rather have him than Harry Kewell.

My bigger question is whether we really need to prioritise another striker. Yes, Best is out and he is our most capable forward but surely Goodwillie and Rochina are capable of playing up front in the championship? we then have Colin K-R, Nuno Gomes and 2 more portuguese players that we have just signed.

Surely we need to look at getting in a couple of players that can use the wings for service and a couple of defenders? We only have 8 defenders in total and I am not sure that is enough especially given Givet and Kean dont talk and Olsson is better as a winger.

Also nice to see our hit prospect Myles anderson has joined Aldershot, hope he stays there....

Hi Wittleblue,
Are you implying that our new £8000 a week defencive coach cant sort this out, rememeber he has to take Keano to the pub first, then pay of the pensioners he ripped off, then and only then will we see our rock solid defence get better, when he has time!

I take your point on what the Venkys promised on there arrival (£5 million)but surley after all this time you didnt think they meant it did you?

He clearly says he's not buying any defenders as we have players who can fill those roles should we come up shy. I.e. Bradley Orr & Etuhu.

So Kean didn't learn from the horror show which was Nzonzi at CB and now hes going to make all the same mistakes again.

Do not discredit these supporters who wish to voice there concern.
These fans, and they are fans, want only the best for the club
but are not being listened to for whatever reasons. I will be one of the so called 10,000 but that doesn't mean I'm right in purchasing 3 x season tickets or supporting Kean. These fans CAN make a difference from the outside and we need to make a difference inside, when things are 'dire'.
Lets be honest, this idiot has to go, but I am not willing to turn my back on my club as my financial status dictates that I can waste my hard earned cash on watching us rise again or die another death, so please don't ever judge other people opinions, as i am sure it is hurting them more in staying away and trying to do something that the club will react to.

There quote is like that double glazing advert but the opposite.

You sell one you get one free, you sell one you get one free!! I say you sell one you get one free.
HENDRY has made it quite clear ,HE WILL NOT BE PAYING THE OLD PENSIONERS BACK THE MONEY HE SWINDLED FROM THEM, he said and I quote "I BORROWED their life savings from them a few months before I went bankrupt ,so Hendry says "I`M IN THE CLEAR, I DONT HAVE TO PAY THEM BACK " Legally I don`t have to pay them back ,irrespective of my 8,000 pounds my mate Stevie K. pays me a week I get for coaching and my own 2 million pension ,my money is mine and no one can get it, its .SAFE from anyone I owe money to.

Once the Hoilett compo money comes through plus the £1m for Yakubu, Venkys will yet again turn a transfer window profit. That's without the possible late exits of Nzonzi, Olsson or Dann. The only surprise is that anyone actually believed we were going to splash the cash.

You and me are probably doing the easy option and really doing nothing to change things, so put up and shut up and support each other, because we all want the same thing!!
Spot on.

I'm gutted, perplexed and saddened that I have reached the decision in not attending Ewood until the odious one has left.

This guy as treated BRFC with utter disdain thoroughly destroying all that I believe this club stands for.
Contentious, I know, but his abject and appalling lack of consideration within his own ambitions for BRFC have become to much to bear.

40 years on a mostly consistent basis I have followed BRFC through all situations, but this is one step to far as far as I'm concerned.

I wish you well for the season ahead in supporting the mighty blue and white's thus the hardcore of 6000(or maybe it is now 8000?) will always remain to carry on the support of our club.

Grand.

Once the odious one leaves I will return with glee.

interesting read. Glen Mullan claims some players hate the fans?!
Not unusual I would surmise blueblooded ?............

Unfortunately, IMO a siege mentality as become apparent these last 12 months, at least. The shame of it all is that in the main all of the players have had the support of the fans, taking away the disgraceful behaviour toward Andrews.

For a manager to create such a mentality toward the fans,(and of course vise versa) again IMO, with players alluding to hating the fans is totally and utterly wrong, but it is a situation we find ourselves in which makes it more of an importance to repair this horrendous fractious situation asap.

A crying shame for all concerned, me thinks !
Just a thought or two :)

Now money is not an issue,Shabby will arrange to cover Kean, because he cannot loose the third game. This game is wounderfull. Kean is getting more power to bring his wish player again, I loved this game.

My question with a few days left before we start is who is leaving to cut the wage bill and get some income ?
N'Dozi, Pedersen, Martin Olly, Robbo, Dann, Givet - all look distinct possibilties as Keano, Venkys and the agents will want to make a profit on the summer signings.
Is it true Pele is signing and was only doing a gig at the Olympics as way of coming over here ? Don't Venkys have an outlet in Brazil ? Didn't we have an accountant from Brazil in the January sales ?
Let have some whoppers please Keano, the Chamakh nonsense was chicken feed as a story.

Although you are not taking the easy option in my opinion, I am sure once we are 2-0 down a good "Kean out" inside the ground will do as good as us protesting outside.

All for one and one for all!!

These fans, and they are fans, want only the best for the club but are not being listened to for whatever reasons. You and me are probably doing the easy option and really doing nothing to change things, so put up and shut up and support each other, because we all want the same thing!![/p][/quote]Hi Finny, Even though I am one that will not go until that plonker has left I like the way you as some one who is still going put this post. interesting read.

Just a thought or two :)

maybe not unusual RR, but someone as respected as GM saying some players wouldn't spit on us if we were on fire is deeply hurtful and shocking don't you think?
Couldn't agree more mate, and why I want this horrid situation to disappear. For that to happen I have had to stand by my decisions in not attending, which is deeply hurtful, and as me feeling like I'm one of the supporters they wouldn't pish on. But, that is life for me mate such is my conviction and belief over this, and remember I supported in the most practical of ways Kean up until and around the Fulham to Cardiff games when many had already lost it with him.

So I feel no guilt on that whatsoever. The return for our club as been pitiful thus far and, again we see Kean attempting after failure upon failure getting another go at it. I just have no confidence in him at all so I stay away as not to bring a really negative attitude inside.

I was at Cardiff that night mate.

Bummer.

I will always support BRFC and hope for better times ahead ?

Hi Wittleblue, Are you implying that our new £8000 a week defencive coach cant sort this out, rememeber he has to take Keano to the pub first, then pay of the pensioners he ripped off, then and only then will we see our rock solid defence get better, when he has time! I take your point on what the Venkys promised on there arrival (£5 million)but surley after all this time you didnt think they meant it did you?
Hi Ronnie,
I have a feeling from your reply to me you did not realise I was taking the p!ss about our new defensive coach.
I know perfectly well what kind of person he is and what he has done and yes he still has plenty of cash coming in from wages etc which he could contribute to those poor pensioners (but he wont).

My point being purley from a footballing point of view since he has been appointed the defence is still leaking goals, hence the phrase from the terraces.

What a waist of money, what a waist of money.

He is just there as a drinking partner for you know who.

Hendry lived in a 2 million pound mansion. His pesnioner neighbours lived in their 2 million pound mansion. Not saying its not wrong but you lot are making out that their on welfare. Life savings give me a break. Its still ongoing so why not STFU and let the powers that be deal with it.

My comments were directed at 'BLUEBLOODED' not yourself , sir ,the comments by Blueblooded regarding Hendry being a legend at Rovers and because of that basically he can do any dishonest and immoral acts he chooses , Hendry used to walk around shops in Blackburn expecting the shopkeeper to provide anything he flippantly wanted at a whim at no charge.
Blueblooded perhaps has not read www.colinhendrylies.

What is this continuing boll@x, its an ongoing civil dispute so why get involved?
Hendry lived in a 2 million pound mansion. His pesnioner neighbours lived in their 2 million pound mansion. Not saying its not wrong but you lot are making out that their on welfare. Life savings give me a break. Its still ongoing so why not STFU and let the powers that be deal with it.
His neighbours lived in an apartment which cost them nowhere near £2 million (nearer £100,000). It was their life savings he took from them....money they clearly couldn't afford to lose.
Funny even Hector Macfarlane says they live in Thailand in the winter where they also own a house, of course all state pensioners do that don't they. Think you'll find their apartment costs way more than £100,000 so why are you spreading lies. Do some research, the info is out there, instead of peddling nonesense, as I've said, its an ongoing civil dispute, so let the powers that be deal with it and shut your hole.

It's not a civil dispute - Hendry's bankruptcy was the end of it as far as any financial obligations he may have previously had. I believe he has offered token payments to all his creditors or been told to. That was before he got this job.

And can you show me the valuations of the properties? As pensioners, its not as though they can remortgage. Plus, being able to sell an alleged "mansion" to get them out of any financial trouble doesn't make Hendry's actions any less unpalatable.

Many fans respect Alan Shearer as the greatest player ever to wear the blue and white halves; didn't stop them giving him some serious stick for the way he left the club. Why should we suddenly all love Hendry who downed tools completely to get a move.

It would have been interesting to see the reaction had he returned to play against us, like Shearer did.

Hendry was one of my heroes as a player but a lot of murky water has passed under the bridge since then.

It's only normal for someone to change their opinion of someone based on things they do. On the basis of that, I have changed my opinion of him as a person.

Completely ignoring what that person has done since he entertained you (and me) for a relatively short period is naive at best.

interesting read. Glen Mullan claims some players hate the fans?!
Putting aside the unwarranted onslaught over Andrews, I find it quite concerting that some seem to have a concern over how our players 'view' the support.
The days of guys 'progressing' through the foootballing world and still retaining some connection with where they have come from is long long gone.
From a very young age these guys are picking up very nice salaries for 15 -20 years. Amassing to a very comfortable future lifestyle
So they have to step out once or twice a week and be 'judged' for 90+ mins at a time, this with regards to their effort and contribution in front of a paying observer.
In the meantime they scuttle off, out of the way, to their plush pads.
My heart bleeds for them.

Please, for those that do, stop putting these guys on pedestals as some sort of icons.

I am fairly sure that after a 'difficult' game and they check their bank balance, the hurt is not so badly felt after all.

Read in this mornings, transfer section of the Mirror that Jack Straw is instigating a Government investigation into BRFC eg. Who owns the club, what do they actually own, who are the Directors, how the club is run and by whom and all Financial aspects relating to the Club. Jack Straw hasn't done much for Blackburn in the past, lets hope he carries this through. It could be his saving grace. On another subject does the Scottish clown have an abundance of defenders that we don't know about, I havn't heard of a single defender coming in yet.

Mr Cryer you might as well have wrote Rovers in for RVP or The real Wayne Rooney then 2 days later report the interst has cooled. Lets see a proper piece of investigative journalism, were has the money been spent.... could it be on agents, nice dinners and expensive hotels and flights. God how did we get in such at state!

I still feel Venkey should act faster with Jordan Rhodes bid program, he is a class act, I saw yesterdays match between Scotland and Australia. Rhodes control the game in front, so nice to watch him. Our Goodwillie sitting in the bench, still young player when they consider Rhodes in there senior team.

A long term plan with vision is important to build a powerfull team who can stay at the top 5 always - In that we can(any club who got money) count Jordan Rhodes for next 5 years. I prefer Blackburn will be a good choice because they are in hunt for him with money.

Another **** story to try and wet the appetite of the fans. Don't believe they ever offered any where near the asking price for Rhodes. Yet another pack of lies coming from the Circus Clowns PR Machine.

The club we supported - for many of us, over many decades - no longer exists. The people we respected have gone. The loyalty that was generated towards the club has been abused and ignored.

For many of us, now, attending a game will be an insult to the memory of Jack Walker. It would seem that by doing so we will be condoning the actions and attitudes of a bunch of witless idiots who unintentionally or not, project a strong impression of corruption.

I have stated before that the statue of Jack Walker should be removed from Ewood Park - it symbolises everything that was right about the club. What we have seen and what we continue to witness tarnishes everything that Jack stood for.

Demanding that his statue was moved - ideally through his families insistence - would send the strongest possible message and would cast universal shame on these cowboys - including our new defensive coach.
