UPDATED: Singh piles the pressure on Rovers boss Kean
9:10am Monday 13th August 2012 in News
ROVERS supremo Shebby Singh says under-pressure boss Steve Kean will be sacked if he loses three games in a row this season.
The revelation came at an open forum with fans from the Blackburn Rovers Action Group at King George’s Hall on Saturday morning.
The club’s global advisor also labelled midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen a ‘pensioner’ as he fielded dozens of questions from hostile Rovers fans in the 90-minute meeting.
He also warned fans to take promises made by Kean ‘with a pinch of salt’. Organised by the action group, the meeting saw almost 500 supporters pack out Blakey’s Cafe Bar as they quizzed Singh about everything from potential signings to agents’ fees.
Every question was met with loud cheers as the former Malaysia international defender attempted to outline owners Venky’s plans for life in the Championship.
He said: “The owners have said to me do what you are doing, continue doing it – the manager has not said to me we should have signed so-and-so, or we don’t need so-and-so.
“For me, it’s about results. For me, after three games if we have dropped nine points, we would quite literally only have a 50 per cent chance of getting promoted, so everyone has to start from day one.”
When asked to clarify how many losses on the bounce it would take for Kean to be sacked, Singh replied: “If we lose three games? Definitely.”
This prompted a massive round of applause and chants of ‘Kean Out’ but Singh’s comments on long-serving Norwegian Pedersen seemed to do little to endear him to the Rovers’ faithful.
Commenting on the decision to place the 30-year-old on the transfer list, Singh said: “Morten Gamst Pedersen used to be a fantastic left winger.
“Unfortunately he has not reinvented himself as a centre midfielder. “He has lost his legs. He has not been contributing to the team. We want people who can run and run, and keep running for 90 minutes.
“We are not here to entertain big names. This is why teams fail.
“Under Sam Allardyce, he was possibly three years younger. Wingers lose their pace and if they can’t reinvent themselves they are, quite literally, of no use. “There are players who are past their sell-by-date. “If this club wants to move forward, you need energy and you need vigour.”
He added: “We won’t get anywhere with pensioners on the pitch.” On numerous occasions, Singh explained he could not be held accountable for decisions made before his appointment and that everyone at the club now had a clean slate – including the manager. He said: “For me his record starts on the 18th (of August).
His appointment came first and I am here to pick up the baton.” However, Singh intimated that he does now have the power to dismiss the Scotsman.
When asked by one of many fans demanding to know how Kean was still in a job, Singh answered: “Sometimes I wonder too,” prompting cries of ‘circus’ from the audience. Another fan asked: “I know nothing about football management, I’m a liar, a suck-up and I’m part-Scottish – can I have a job?”
Singh replied: “That position is already taken.”
Other issues clarified by Singh included confirming that only a few more than 8,000 season tickets had been sold, that agent Jerome Anderson was not on the payroll at Ewood Park, and that his son, striker Myles, would be sent out on loan to Aldershot Town.

Kean out after 3 defeats - well we will see and no matter what anyone thinks of Pederson to label him in this way is disgusting!!!!!! He's been a good club servant - yes maybe time to move on but as put more into the club/fans than Kean and his drinking mates who still continue to draw big bucks even though they have taken the Rovers down and destroyed a once famous club - the lot of you are lying despicable characters and should be utterly ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!!!!!

I think Kean needs to be given this season to consolidate the club at this level. We have no automatic rights to be promoted! People need to understand this. We have a good, well connected manager who will ultimately turn us into a good side. Less of the abuse of him and get behind the team.

Therefore we have a manager whose only experience as a British footballer was 4 sub appearances for Swansea in the old fourth division. We've got a coach who was sacked by Blackpool, quit Clyde after a string of poor results and managed to rip off a couple of pensioners of their life savings. Above them we have a Technical Director who lasted a year as technical director in a third rate league. Is it any wonder the club is plummeting to oblivion??

I wonder if Singh would be prepared to put his money where his mouth is and offer full refunds to season ticket holders if we lose 3 games on the trot this season and they fail to sack Kean. In fairness it's brave of him to face the supporters (he's at least got more balls than Kean) but he's set himself up here by claiming that Kean will "definitely" be sacked if he loses 3 games on the bounce. Oh well....bring it on!! Kean is now officially a dead man walking.

I really don't mind Shebby to act as an intermediary (between the manager and owners) but the manager has to be right and Shebby must treat them with respect and stand by them. Mick McCarthy is the man for me. He got Sunderland and Wolves promoted (Sunderland with a massive 94 points) and managed to qualify for the World Cup finals with Ireland. What has Kean done?

Shebby doesn't have the authority to make these kind of decisions. The only person who decides Kean's fate is the woman in charge, not even her brothers have any influence on who the manager is.
And it looks to me like shebby is trying to do to Kean, what Kean did to Allardyce. Personally I don't care who is in charge as long as we start to win games, our wage bill is astronomical now and failure to get promotion this year will be a disaster.

Lets hope and pray Shabby shaggy or whatever the fu.ckin hell his name is, is a man of his words!! 3 losses on the trot or a bad start of say 7 or 8 points from our first 10 league games, its absolutely nailed on. Make sure we keep robbo in goal and its certain.
Shocked as everyone else is at the peders comments. Sure he has lost the spark and should have been moved on a while ago now, but that is just crass disrespect!
Kean out.
SS said "if we lose 3 games on the trot" (I'm still not convinced he didnt simply mean the first 3 games) so if we go LLDLLDLLDLLDLLDLLD etc all season and Kean isnt sacked, well, SS can refer back to todays meeting and said "I said that I would sack SK if we lose 3 games on the trot"
And, bear in mind under MH Rovers hardly ever lost 3 games on the trot in 4 years - I know we're now talking about SK not MH but we are now in the Championship and not the PL so, even for a bumbling idiot like Kean it might not be that easy, with our resonably good squad, for Rovers to lose 3 games on the trot
- so don't get the bunting out just yet and even if we do, no matter what SS says I still think he'll have to get Mrs D to sign the sacking off before it actually happens and we all know from past experience that she has a blind spot where Kean is concerned.

The message is the same - nothing will change with these people owning the club and if they never set foot in Blackburn again so much the better.
As for Shebby calling MGP a pensioner that is a disgrace and he should publicily apologise NOW. What he calls David Dunn I shudder to think I know which one I would rather have in my team - at least Pederson is fit Dunn is the new Grella looking after the treatment room - the club is a joke but no Rovers fans are laughing

The Almighty Singh has already been quoted as saying Kean should be sacked only to retract it when he became our all-seeing, all powerful Global Overlord.
This guy's opinion changes with the wind, or more accurately, his employer. Similarly anything he says depends on who he is saying it to. Tell 'em what they want to hear and all that.
However convincing, however genuine he may seem, he or his paymasters have not done what every man and his dog knows should have been done 9 months ago (at least). Until that happens, he will continue to have zero credibility.
IF he has any authority but is incapable of seeing what the first step should be, then there is no reason for us to think he is any more competent than the owners themselves. The fact the club hasn't rid itself of you know who tells me he has either no idea, no authority or, most likely, both.
There has been no action therefore the words mean nothing.
At the moment he is just a front man, nothing more.
His comments about MGP by the way are a disgrace; disrespectful at best. However, I fancy we will have to suffer a lot more embarrassing oubursts from this man over time.

He claimed that he DOES have the power to sack him which is good to know as you can see he doesn't like the slimy toad. When we asked WHY he doesn't just sack him now, he kept stating that the decision was made to keep Kean on before Shebby was put in his new position.
He made it clear that he WILL be judged from next Saturday on results which is where the 3 consecutive loss statement came from. I'd like to think that on the off chance that we do pick up a few points, that if we clearly are performing like last season and heading south and the fans keep up the pressure and the protests then he'll sack him anyway.
The fact that the session was all on camera and its all over the news, he MUST stand by what he said - he HAS to, so Kean is a dead man walking as we all know the likelihood of him losing 3 games on the bounce by the end of September is as likely as a Dingle having a fumble with his sister.
I'd like to make the point that the meeting was really well put together and the action group deserve a huge amount of credit for their work. Also, think what you like about Shebby Singh but it took a lot of balls to do what he did today. If he follows through with the noises he was making he could be the turning point in this 2 year nightmare!
Come on Shebby, make yourself a legend and get it done lad!
P.S. his comments on Peds were tongue in cheek and I think he made those comments at a time where the room was a bit tense as every question was about removing the bald one. He defelcted things to get a reaction in my opinion.

To call a senior player who is still at the club is an absolute disgrace, and as much as I hate Kean for this clown to come out and give any manager three games and your out is ridiculous, what does this say to any future manager, another sad sad day for BRFC.

I can't believe the so called fans here. 'dangerous Dave' above is saying no club ever done such a meeting and it is an embarrassment, may be you and others shouldn't have constantly complained about lack of communication and should have told the 'Supporters Trust' not to organise this embarrassment, don't you think?
Or were you waiting for Shebby to turn down the Supporters Trust's invitation and then slag him off for that?
'Jc_Rishton' above is asking Andy Cryer/LT to ask clarification questions about it is three games on the trot, three games at the start etc etc. JC couldn't you have asked these questions directly at the meeting? Aren't you in the bunch of fans who always accuse Andy Cryer about not asking the right questions, so why you want him to ask these question, were you afraid to ask it yourself?
Such an unhappy bunch of fans, no wonder the singles are making fun of us.
No wonder the Venkys are not talking to the fans, they are damned if they do damned if they don't.
.
I couldnt clarify that point at this mornings meeting because I had already asked my question(s), otherwise I would have, and I hoped other Rovers fans would clarify the point because, as I said earlier - SS is "as slippery as an eel".
So I'll repeat what I said on here earlier and what you tried to "put me down on" - Andy Cryer - Please can you clarify with SS what he meant when he said "SK would be sacked if he lost 3 games on the trot".
Paul, Is that clear for you you - oh and by the way - you are the most dusgusting/disgrace of any human being that has ever classified themselves as "a BRFC lifelong supporter" - now crawl along and disappear forever - when Kean/Venkys/JA are all gone then (hopefully) you will get the lifelong ban from Ewood Park, you surely deserve !!

SS answers were extensive and completely OTT and disrespectful about a player (no matter what you think about his performances on the pitch) who is Rovers longest servng player and who has always represented this club in the best possible way.
It is also amazing from a club point of view when they have only (this week) said that they will listen to offers of around £3million for MGP - not bad for a "pensioner who's legs have gone" ????
Also, none of us have so far mentioned that SS was happy to talk about "football matters" - a phrase he said time after time yet every time "other", non footballing matters were brought up, ie "ownership questions", "JA club involvement" etc questions were asked he looked distinctly uncomfortable and just waffled an irrelevant answer.

The owners chose not to sack SK when we were struggling in the PL. What would be the point to do it so early in this division / season.
A stable club is what is needed.
There is serious talk about the Preston Mananger being recruited to step in for Kean but I believe we should stick with the current set up.
I don't believe we should be looking to Westley for promotion.
I have also heard we are going back to Huddersfield with a further bid of £9m for Jordan Rhodes. Thoughts?

Doesn't sound like having much "power" to me.
His new job is to be an advisor to the owners (the clue's in the title). If so, why a) has he not told those who made the decision to keep him they should have fired him, obviously, or b) if he has told them and he has "the power", has it not been done?
He has, therefore, a) not advised them of this and by failing to do so, it is reasonable to assume he has no idea what he's doing, b) no authority or, most likely, c) neither.
"...he must stand by what he said - he has to".
Really? Perhaps he will say this was also "tongue in cheek" to relieve the tension in the room - or, to put it another way, tell them what they want to hear and everyone goes home happy. Plus there will always be mitigating circumstances - excuses to you and me - to fall back on.
At least we'll find out how imaginative he can be as Kean's used up all of the standard ones. He is a media trained front man though so it shouldn't be beyond him.
Actions speak louder than words. The owners said nothing last year and their actions were disastrous. Now we can't shut them up via the Shebster, sorry, $cheister, as if they think this information overload, sorry, bu!!$hit, will cover for their inactivity where it matters most.

The reason for doing it now would be to avoid the near certainty of us struggling this season. Having failed to do it when they should have done makes the Summer the logical time to do it.
A new manager would have more chance to bring in players HE wants and work with them without having to make do and mend half way through the season. I suppose that would have been the case to an extent had Kean been sacked last December, although he would have had the January window to at least make changes to the squad.
A stable club? We'll have to wait and see on that one. Merely putting bums on seats in the boardroom does not automatically result in stability. Nor does hiring an ex-Rovers legend as a coach and a glorified taxi driver into the responsible position of ground manager.
As far as changing the manager goes in the Summer - that particular horse has already bolted (stable, horse bolted, geddit?......alright
, I'll get me coat)
I agree with you not wanting Westley; he has done nothing at PNE and, having watched them a couple of times on the telly, his style of play seems to draw from the Allardyce shool of thought - just not as effective.
Can we not look beyond Preston for new recruits to the back room staff? Not very "global" Mr Singh.
Neither the owners nor the $cheister have the experience or connections to make any appointments outside the tight inner circle already at the club.
They have clearly relied on Kean's recommendations - Agnew, Hendry, Kato (ground manager) - all his supporters. The knock on effect has brought in the guy from PNE as chairman (sorry, forgotten his name) and now the rumour, if true, of another PNE man being in the frame.
Who would advise them who should take over from Kean if they did do the decent thing and put us out of our collective misery? Agnew, whatsisname, the $cheister? The first two have effectively been hired by Kean whilst the other has already failed to do it, despite being the owner's supposed advisor.
And £9m? More mouths writing cheques they aren't prepared to cash I'm afraid.

Kean may ultimately be given the heave-ho - but I'm staying away until the Venkys leave. My money is on Kean staying longer than Shabby.
As to Shabby's comments about MGP, however any player is playing, the senior people at any club should never criticise in public like that. It was a cheap and ill-conceived throw-away line to present himself as a tough guy.

And £9m? More mouths writing cheques they aren't prepared to cash I'm afraid.
it's going to take a whole lot more than merely sacking Kean to get the club in a competitive position.
That said, at least our squad under a decent manager should only need a few defensive tweaks and proper management and training should be enough.
Singh is going to rue the MGP comments as fans won't forgive him so easily but it shows a ruthless side to him which hopefully will be useful for cutting out the first and biggest part of the rot from our club.

So after six games we could have 2 points and Kean keeps his job, nothing new there then.
Not too sure if he will be sacked for getting less than thay, but he will be for 2 points from the first 6. If Shabby is being honourable then Kean will be gone early in season, unless he turns his previous record around dramatically.

The question I asked was as follows. Given that you have given everyone at the club a clean slate, how can you put Pederson on the transfer list and say he has no future at the club?
In reality he should have said not everyone has been given a clean slate. Kean obviously has, but Pederson has not. For that reason, I do feel that Singh is saying what he wants the fans to hear. For what it's worth, I believe that Pederson will do a good job at championship level and I hope he isn't sold to one of our rivals and comes back to haunt us!

We still have a team wearing our historic colours which are recognised all over the world so please get behind the team and hope that Kean is rightfully dismissed .The owners wont want 3 draws or any other poor combinations Shebby was going to say after "two matches" before being interupted so his days are very limited. The Venkey's have spent a lot on 9 or 10 contracts so they wont want to be floundering again. in early season they want you fans to come back and support the team so don't give up on them the blue & whites need you all.
I like my 'bumblebee shirt' and will continue to wear it to the home games.

Lots of negativity on here. We haven't kicked a ball yet this season and already people are talking as if we are relegated. Lets be positive, support the team. I hear the Venkys team are working very hard behind the scenes to increase the appeal of BRFC on the subcontinent. Must be a good thing, surely?

Anyway Shebby is clearly as big an idiot as Kean for the following reasons.
1. You never give an employee an excuse to sue for constructive dismissal. He's now made their relationship untenable and if one of them has to go, I wouldn't bet on it being Kean.
2. It seems that he's been responsible for buying all the young Portugese players.
3.criticising Morten was definitely not an honourable thing to do and certainly if they're bidding 2m for Rhodes and want 3m for MGP there's a screw loose somewhere.
I'm afraid that Shebby is just a different looney running the asylum and we are in the sh1t.

I think he likes to hear himself speak and perhaps should pause before opening his mouth. In that respect he has performed no better than the man he is threatening to sack.
For me, not too many positives to take from what I know of a meeting I did not attend. We're still being portrayed to the world in a poor light. The nightmare isn't ending any time soon. As gary says, just a different loon has stepped up. Scary.

I was stunned at this comment and it's implications. I hope that my rebuke came across loud and clear in defense of that which was being implied ?
I would say SS was none to pleased with my response considering his reaction.
I found the meeting to be informative, honest and forthright.
The most important element that came out of SS was the confirmation that the Odious One would be potted if he does not bring in the results that befit an alleged assault on the return to the Prem ?
That said should he not achieve these goals and Venky, or SS do not then sack him the whole sorry saga will be confirmed.
I only ask of these people in bringing about the stability that this club and it's supporters deserve. The infrastructure is being implemented and now we have to hope that these people are going to achieve that which they speak.
