Blackburn Rovers seek Olsson talks

REQUEST Martin Olsson REQUEST Martin Olsson

BLACKBURN Rovers will seek clear the air talks with Martin Olsson next week – but are adamant they won’t let him leave unless they receive an offer ‘they can’t refuse’.

The Swedish international handed in a transfer request a fortnight ago but club sources insist he has since told boss Steve Kean he is happy to remain at Ewood Park.

Olsson’s representatives remain adamant the player is determined to quit Ewood Park this summer to land a return to the Premier League, and Rovers’ hierarchy will look to quiz Olsson again on his intentions when he returns to pre-season training in a few days time.

If Olsson does reiterate his desire to quit East Lancashire, Rovers are determined to only sell him for the ‘right price’, with valuations of between £5million to £8million put on his head.

Rovers though are currently planning for the new campaign with Olsson in their squad but want to clarify the player’s own wishes as soon as possible next week.

Rovers have only received one offer for the 24-year-old since last season’s Premier League relegation, but the £1.5m bid from an unnamed club was dismissed out of hand by owners Venky’s.

The majority of Rovers fans still fear a mass exodus this summer after the club dropped out of the Premier League last season, with top scorer Yakubu so far the only departure.

Out of contract Junior Hoilett is expected to sign elsewhere imminently, with QPR leading the chase, while Steven Nzonzi has been left out of Rovers’ Austrian training camp after he informed the club he wanted out.

The future of Gael Givet remains uncertain with sources close to the Frenchman adamant talks are still to be had to discuss the current terms of his contract. Rovers remain hopeful the player will remain at Ewood Park.

The club’s efforts to land midfielder Adrien Silva from Sporting Lisbon remain ongoing despite the Portuguese club saying yesterday they were confident the player would stay.

Meanwhile, Rovers’ operations director Paul Agnew has said the club’s new signings have settled into life at Rovers during the Austrian training camp.

Leon Best, Danny Murphy, Nuno Gomes and Fabio Nunes have all been involved, with Agnew insisting boss Steve Kean has been delighted with the week’s efforts.

Agnew said: “It has been intense, with three training sessions a day in very, very hot conditions. Speaking to Steve though, he says it has been very valuable.

“The new signings have settled straight away, which is obviously important for the coming season.”

If he has told Steve Kean that he is happy to stay why are the club seeking clear the air talks?

Why is nothing ever clear and transparent at this club anymore? Hopefully we keep hold of all of these players and remove the man to blame for this mess. Can't believe Nottingham Forest haven't come calling for the services of Steve Kean...

So Agnew our new 'so called' operations director says the new players have settled in well after speaking to his 'mate' Kean just 'jobs for the boys' - its a pity he cant speak to the fans and offer them an 'humble apology' on behalf of the Club for all their short comings/contempt of last season!!!
Regarding comments ask for on Hendry's pending appointment mentioned in the LT by the Venkys new 'PR' man Andy Cryer - says give him a chance - well my point of view is just another job for the boys - one of Keans drinking partners who's son is already at Brockhall!!

Players will leave and rightly so. We do however need to get the right price. I am very worried about our defense. We need bodies in asap. It is the one area especially where understandings need to be developed in order to have a tight defensive unit. We probably need 2 Left backs and 2 CB if people leave. defensive gelling takes time and we need bodies in asap!

I know he's not exactly everyone's cup of tea but he is a great footballer and watching good football is ultimately what I pay my money for. If it wasn't for his behavioural problems then I think he would be an England player. He's definitely a cut above the likes of Gareth Barry and Scott Parker.

Ollson "handed in a transfer request a fortnight ago but club sources insist he has since told boss Steve Kean he is happy to remain at Ewood Park"

The infamous, un-named "club source" again - has he withdrawn his request then?

£10mill for N'Zonzi, £8 mill for Olsson, we'll be able to sign the entire Malaysian national team at this rate. Or the Portugese under 21 squad - from 1994. Shebby can even bring his TV crew over as well.

Who knows? The brothers Grimm might be able to upgrade to business class for their two flights a year over to England.

Clear the air talks?

"So Martin, Steve says you're happy to stay at Ewood Park"

"I think Mr Kean misunderstood; I said I was happy to stay at Ewood Park whilst they were in Austria so I wouldn't have to fly back to sign for somebody else, anybody else, please let me go".

"So you definitely want to stay then? Good we'll let the fans know; source, club source, we've got some more BS for you to release".

Perhaps they're hiring Hendry so he can advise on what to do when they take the club to the wall - a kind of bankruptcy coach.

Seriously, it doesn't really matter if he's gone bankrupt or not. There's plenty of other things that do though.

Joey Barton on loan? He could be our enforcer and beat up anyone who says they want out.I do like Barton the footballer though pity about his anger problems but he is a decent midfielder so it is the king of signing that would help us get up first go. We need to bring some defenders in prompto.

I think we should all take a moment to read between all the lines that have been published recently. Nett spend on transfers in (If Silva Joins) £6 million. Forget Murphys wages they are easily offset by losing wages for Roberts, Grella, Samba, Salgado,Yak,Nelsen etc. So £6 million spent. Shabby has already said our spending is over as he wanted all new recruits in place by pre start of pre season, so that would mean there aint going to be any more. No defenders ? Singh Agnew and Kean all pushing the positives of these signings as a " show of intent " the rest of the division will be "frightened" and maybe so at the moment. So, new signings, new intent, LET on board equals season ticket sales ! Once they reach an acceptable level with, remember no more signings coming in, out will go Nzonzi, out will go Hoilett, out will go Robinson, Dann, Olsson, Givet (labelled as greedy by Kean for not accepting his pay cut) out will go Goodwillie,Petrovic, Vukevic and anybody else saleable or with a value. Transfer profit for Venkys a probable £10 - £20 million. Wage bill again drastically reduced, and all of us duped into another season of kids, loanees, 3rd rate journeymen and ageing former players. Defence decimated with no one else coming in. Kean being ultra positive about his new young team and the batterings they will take at hardened championship grounds, like Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield,Blackpool and Leicester, Hull, Palace and Watford (money to spend) . Please if you have a season ticket , please remember this post and dont be surprised. What is coming will not be big, will not be clever and will not result in a promotion tilt. You may find the other end of the table is where your looking come 1am every sunday morning on the football league show. You heard it here.

I fully understand where people are coming from as most relegated clubs need to release the Premiership players as revenue drops significantly in the Championship.I do believe that the club have realised the way forward for Rovers is to offer the higest wages and the quality players will either want to stay or be attracted to joining us. I feel quite positive that we are looking at decent players this year and maybe some of our players who let us down last term will think they would prefer to remain and play with these new signings.
I recall Hull and Burnley going down and the lack of investment at those two clubs led to them being mid table clubs with a good chance of relegation so hopefully we wont be in that position and love him or hate him Kean may take us back up.

Joy Barton is coming not as a footballer but as SK's replacement bodyguard.
(His other bodyguard is busy thinking up ways of strip searching the fans before entry to the ground.) Any fan getting within six feet of Kean will be given one verbal warning by Joey then a follow up of a battering.

All this says (just like all the other times) is: if the price is right you can have him. They just mask it as 'We really want to keep hold of him'.
Yes, that is pretty much how most/all clubs operate, but with ours it does not seem to work in our favour so well.
Time was when nearly all of our releases didn't fair so well with their new clubs, but recently they seem to be doing ok/well.
Good business? (for who?).

If we got Barton it would only be short term and mainly to use up his 12-match ban quicker for QPR (as more games are played in a shorter space of time in the Chumpionship).

If he comes, don't expect to actually see him play many games for us.

Without further strengthening in area's with players of experience for the Championship BRFC are going to struggle big time.

It isn't rocket science considering the demands of the Championship. Our squad, should the usual suspects leave, will see a threadbare squad unable to cope with the demands. Throw in injury and suspensions, and we are exposed.

My biggest concern is that we are going to have unhappy players attempting in the push for a so called immediate return to the Prem. The caustic nature down at Ewood is not to be sniffed at, and could land us in serious trouble ?

Every team who plays BRFC(Wolves and BWFC apart) will pull out all the stops for preventing this, and my biggest concern is that we do not have the experience in combating this right the way through the club.

Unfortunately, nothing fills me with any optimism under this rag tag regime.

I want to know just what it is that Venky see in the 'Odious One's' tenure thus far that allows for him to remain in one of the most crucial of roles that doesn't allow for the outpouring of cynicism that I feel ? It is such a disgraceful lack of respect on every supporter.

Remember this - The opening game of 2011/2012 season v Wolves had N'zonzi in central defense, who in turn was woeful to say the least !

Looking at the possible scenario we could be left with no central defenders or at best unhappy players !

Reasons to be cheerful ?
From the bottom of my heart I truly wish for BRFC in succeeding regardless of that which lay's before us, and who happens to be in charge ?

I hear this ringing in my lugs from Mark Hughes:

"We will never be in this situation again as long as I'm in charge"

I believe him 100% and know that that will be the case. Wish I could embrace the same sentiment from this caustic imposter.

T'up the Rovers :)

Hey Mr Morst :)

Every morning I'm crying over my cornflakes wringing out every bit of optimism I can find with this 2 year blasted horror show that shows no signs of abating on the evidence thus far.

What is the midfield fixation with this lot ? If we have this alarming situation over the center of defense just what are they doing in rectifying it ? As there ever been a situation were so many are showing public dissent in wanting away from BRFC ? The break up of the Champions team is the only one I can genuinely think of, but it wasn't as bad as this, was it ? Going down isn't always a bad thing as under Souness we witnessed, but this feels a whole lot different, and very sad in witnessing !

Unbelievable isn't it, but non the less an absolute reality :(

Get him out and I will gladly return and roar the boy's in the B&W shirt on with pleasure.

Why is he still in his post ? Staggering pal !

[quote][p][bold]TONYD44[/bold] wrote: I think we should all take a moment to read between all the lines that have been published recently. Nett spend on transfers in (If Silva Joins) £6 million. Shabby has already said our spending is over as he wanted all new recruits in place by pre start of pre season, so that would mean there aint going to be any more. No defenders ? So, new signings, new intent, LET on board equals season ticket sales ! Transfer profit for Venkys a probable £10 - £20 million. Wage bill again drastically reduced, and all of us duped into another season of kids, loanees, 3rd rate journeymen and ageing former players. Kean being ultra positive about his new young team and the batterings they will take at hardened championship grounds, like Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield,Blackpool and Leicester, Hull, Palace and Watford (money to spend) . Hey A Darener :)

A double edged sword !

A disgusting and loathsome character as far as I'm concerned, and will never have an ounce of respect from myself, and this is from a guy who supported him in the most practical of terms from the outset slowly but surely eating away any optimism I had. The Cardiff forfeit game, that I attended, finished me off. That display, on that evening, highlighted in sharp focus just what this guy is capable of whilst hiding behind some form of professional integrity. I witnessed folk's ashen look at Cardiff utter bewilderment, and not funny at all ! This was before we knew that the game had that slant to it ! I will never forgive him that little indiscretion nor the utter abject display on that evening.

Givet82 - you are hilarious. How anyone can look to defend the Inept One and this regime is beyond me.

You try to compare Givet's drink driving with that of the Inept One's but omit one big difference.

Givet admitted he had done wrong and took the blame on the chin. He did something stupid and reprehensible but when caught put his hands up and took his punishment like a man.

The Inept One on the other hand tried to concoct some fairytale regarding his drink being spiked. Unlike Mrs D and the rest of the Venky clan, the Court could see his excuse for what it was total bull.

Must admit I,m getting fed up with all doom and gloom fans on here, every signing we make there are Rovers Fans waiting to find fault, all back room staff and officials are also being slagged off, please give it a rest. Kean is a very very poor manager and should be sacked, no question and Venkys have made the club a laughing stock but perhaps they have learnt from their mistakes and they are trying to make things right. Rovers needs everyones support, new players need our support and feel part of the club, I am really concerned that the boo boys will make their life hell, that will destroy their confidence and if were not careful we could be looking at relegation again. I dislike Kean, but its Rovers I support so I will support Rovers no matter what. Kean will be sacked soon but I do not want that to haapen at the expense of Rovers languishing at the bottom of the division. This is my first post on here, please Rovers fans start pulling together and cheer the team on.

The distinction over the 'Odious One' is that he his prepared to blithely saunter through that which is wrong. The recriminations he, and does receive, are valid if only to highlight just what some people are prepared to do in protecting their own self interests.

Driving under the influence of drink is an heinous act, and for those to attempt in wriggling out of it are lower than the low, and, in Keans case, does refuse to acknowledge the serious gravity of his actions.

Spiked ? Well, if I'd have been spiked with drink then I'm **** well sure I would know of the effect on me, and certainly not got into a potential 'Bullet' at the potential cost of a live or lives.

We are all responsible for our actions and deference should follow making sure that we do not repeat the deadly deed.

This is a person in a responsible position with eye's all over him, but not once have I seen a humility in him to sway me from his selfish and abject ways.

We all fall from grace from time to time. Kean is no different.

A dark and distinct time in the history of BRFC.

If Venky's were wanting to put things right then they have a funny way of going about it. Kean should have been sacked, but no they are letting him appoint yes men all around him to protect him from any criticism. It might be your first post but wise up and smell the coffee. Hi woody what condition is the swan in at the moment, plucked and fu*ked I'd say.Like you I can not bring myself to renew my ticket,it just doesn't seem right anymore. So we will have to hold dear the thought that an egg was laid and a new swan will rise once more free from the shackles of the odious one.
I hate to be negative but the new signings do nothing to cheer me up,do the positive posters believe what they write or do they just want to remain positive. What is there to be positive about we are scrambbling about among has beens and maybes to build a team on the cheap. In my opinion venkys have told Shabby do what you like but don't spend our money,it's their club they can spend what they like but I can't be positive about it.
The swan egg should be kept well away from Venkys hatcheries it has no future there.

Not going to happen PM.......

A lengthy and costly suit is not what SA would want at this time. Look at Rednapps situation with Spurs.

I surmise SA's agenda is bigger than that of suing the arse of this sorry individual.

He threatened with suing, and you would think that this is good enough to keep the vipers mouth shut ?

I am so frustrated with not being able to attend PM. In no way will I support HIM no matter the weather !

Hiya Eddie :)

The swan as died a dastardly death ! I just see an ugly child screaming It's lungs out !

My train of thought as arrived at that which suggests Venky had no intention of ever honoring that which J Walker built, but to go back to the ways of pre Walker for BRFC ?

If a business is not sustainable at that which we became accustomed to then at least make that public in a way that doesn't hang a sort of dishonor for them. They are 100% at this time apportioning a large sum of money out of BRFC without really reinvesting, in my opinion ?

The debts are, according to reports, no longer an issue thus we have to believe that reinvestment will surface at some point ? Only time will reveal just what investment Venky are prepared to implement. So far we have seen very little in so far as to that which will strengthen the squad on a long term basis ! More or less every player acquired under the 'Odious One' as or is out the door, out the team. This doesn't bode well in the slightest for any stability.

It certainly aids the pessimism that a vast majority of us supporters feel ?

I hope your well Mr Eddie and you/we can get back down to Ewood sooner rather than later ?

Its like a stuck record sometimes on here. We all know he is a terrible manager ,but if he did come out and apologize you would only say it`s not good enough, so why bother going on and on and on and on? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
It wasn`t so long ago you were whining about not knowing whats going on at the club ,Cryer starts to get and report answers and now he is their P.R man?................

Truly Lad how old are you?
Yeah everthing just seems to get dangerous down. Ever thought about ending it all? Hendry has payed for his crimes, as has Kean as has Givet as has Goodwillie. As is Joey Barton. Funny though how we got rid of el hadj for being a pain in the arse only to now be interested in Barton. Still if Pedersen doesn't pull his weight Barton can always fill him in.

Hope your well Mr.Morst :)

Arte et labore
Very well Sir!
.
Thing is Woody we will have to have a bad start and then Agnew and Shaw can have another go at penetrating the brain of the fat Lady and get her to sing Keanocchio's farewell. Even cats don't get this many lives so his time must be up as soon as two new Directors have the ammo?
.
But its hard for us to want Rovers not to win?
.
But if someone said to me if Rovers get off to a bad start Kean will be sacked then I think I would take the short-term pain for the long term gain?
.
We need to get shut well in time for Dingles! 34th....

Hey A Darener :) A double edged sword ! In a nutshell: It's wrong ! Arte et labore

So, new signings, new intent, LET on board equals season ticket sales ! Kean being ultra positive about his new young team and the batterings they will take at hardened championship grounds, like Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield,Blackpool and Leicester, Hull, Palace and Watford (money to spend) . here's a thought. why don't we let those that are searching for more info on such matters crack on, and should that fail, we will know for definite at the end of the transfer window. until then, i would suggest such comments can only possibly be utter speculation. unless, of course, you can provide something to backup your claims?
You need to fix your crappy keyboard fixed, did Kean sell it to you?

News just in..................
...

"China's economy has grown at its slowest pace in three years. Investment has slowed and demand fallen in key markets such as the US and Europe. Gross domestic product rose by 7.6% in the second quarter, compared with the same period a year ago. That is down from 8.1% in the previous three months".

No, it gets worse;

"China accounts for about a fifth of the world's total economic output and any slowdown may hamper a global recovery".

Blimey!

DearBillimaire owner of Nottingham Forest

We over hear in Blackburn have noticed that you are looking for a new manager and we may have just the person.

If you are interested in our 'Brilliant Manager' just shout and there are circa 20,000 volunteers willing to drive him over on hand, he would drive himself but some nasty person spiked his drink, put a brick on his acelerator and taped a mobile phon to his ear and as such he is paying the price.

There are a few over hear who may miss him, Paul Agnew, Derek Shaw and some 7 Dan bodyguard, but that is about it.

He will willingly spend your money on no marks, and has beens and will also fall out with any decent player you may have and also **** off your entire fan base, but look on the positive side, just think how easy it will be to get to games (something some owners never do by the way).

Only trying to help.

Regards

Blackburn Rovers disenfranchised fan base.

Totally agree.

Whatever anyone says, the man is a turd. I mean battering some poor unfortunate students or stubbing a cigar into some young lad's face? He's a bullying bellend.

If he's thinks he's a top lad he should he get in the ring with those who are willing to show him he's not. Acting the way he does he's just the worst kind of turd.

I said on another thread I think we should welcome each and every player who comes to Rovers, regardless of what's going on at the club, but that would never be the case with that bullying bellend Barton. Him coming to Rovers would just be one more reason to think something seriously rotten is happening to our club.

Joey Barton will not be coming to Rovers. He has a long contract at QPR with very high wages. Venky's will never pay out his sort of money. They only want cheap players. Look at last season when they would not play players who were on a game by game bonus or who would get another contract after playing a certain number of games. It was stupid of course, as it cost us our Prem League position, but then Venky's are stupid, they have kept Kean as manager.

I still baffled by how many mid-fielders SK thinks he needs?

Olson, not worth the money quoted so I think he will be a bench warmer if he does not go

Like I said last week, this league may be harder to get out of than all at BRFC think!

August 18th is coming quickly, 3 games in the first week, will they be ready for the battle?

You are very very suspicious.

I've only read briefly about the twitter thing on BRFCS, and obviously if there was any kind of harassment it's a total disgrace. Anything other than a warm welcome to a new player's wife is wrong IMO.

But posting a picture of someone on somewhere like this. I can't ever remember that happening here before, not in years and years.

Your behaviour is not something from a "genuine fan". It is something dark instead. "lovemyrovers" - with behaviour like yours, your username sounds like some kind of sick joke.

If this is true, the unfortunate actions of the few (if at all real fans) has sunk to a new low, and should be sought out and sorted.
Not so sure about the 'warm welcome' to the new players wife, surely it's just the player we are employing.

Well I don't think anyone should feel compelled to cook them Sunday lunch, I just meant there is no need to be anything other than polite.

I recall Hull and Burnley going down and the lack of investment at those two clubs led to them being mid table clubs with a good chance of relegation so hopefully we wont be in that position and love him or hate him Kean may take us back up.

disgraceful behaviour.

"lovemyrovers" - with behaviour like yours, your username sounds like some kind of sick joke.
were you there? or maybe it's you?

Disgusting people who harass players wives and all you can complain about his pic posted up to expose him?

Suspicious indeed.

I didn't just complain about that though, I said any kind of harassment was a disgrace. I even reiterated the same point afterwards to someone else.

What you've done is something completely different though. Posting pics of people online like this is highly highly suspicious.

You are therefore highly highly suspicious "lovemyrovers". A concerned fan who's never been interested enough to post about Rovers before, but finally feel compelled, such is your high regard of Steve Kean and the Venkys. But then you suddenly have pictures of people that you are willing to post online.

As for your username, "lovemyrovers". You certainly don't seem to love the same Rovers as most people, but I'm guessing that could be your point - is it your Rovers now not ours?

Wtf?

So what are you saying is if some goon had been celebrating when we were relegated (one step backwards, two forward, and all that), any fan who took exception would immediately be dingle? What planet are you on?

I'm guessing you only want to hear positives. You sound very much like someone we know.

herer: hmm.. obviously I'm talking to a simpler being here.. maybe you need to ask why you would take exception to someone being positive about the next season.

I hardly see any "goon celebrating " last season, except maybe a Dingle, maybe you need to ask yourself whether the Mulder and scully inside you is getting too paranoid for your own good. Or is it because you can't stand anyone being happy?

and to your point about the pic, if you think it's clever to harass a players wife for talking to the fans then maybe you shouldn't hide behind a computer and need to be exposed so you don't feel so clever about doing it again.

I was there and read all the comments and you read about it on the brfcs site but still feel compelled to butt your nose in without being fully aware of the facts. I was going to respond to him personally but enough decent rovers out there got there before me and him and his other mate were duly blocked. boohoo that you think it's wrong that he should be exposed.

Joanna Murphy comes across a decent down to earth person who responded with dignity and should not have to pit up with the anti-everything harassing her.

that's a fact.

How can anybody be "positive" about next season? What on earth is there to be positive about? Please enlighten us! Don't say the new recruits, nobody could improve the performances whilst Kean is dictating the tactics. Don't mention the new management structure, a recipe for disaster. Don't mention all the new fans they are encouraging to the support the club. Etc etc etc.

may be true, but do you not agree that the new players coming in should at least be given the opportunity to turn it around before they are thrown into the negative arena?

I for one believe Murphy as captain is going to make life difficult for keano as he's known for string leadership and likely to take on Kean if the bull decisions from last season are repeated.

Kean won't like the ex-fulham skipper going on prod as someone quoted.

Dear Andy Cryer

On behalf of all Rovers supporters, would you please ask Steve Kean why he has not felt the need to at least make a public apology regarding his abhorrent management of the club we love. In all honesty ( and sincerely) without malice, it makes my stomach turn when article after article mentions that kean has gone here or done this and that, shot over to Portugal etc. I cringe when the phrase 'Rovers boss' is applied to him. Surely Andy, every time the telegraph does approach Kean, or interviews him face to face, questions should constantly be put to him until answers are finally unearthedl. Their is no rocket science involved here. The supporters deserve to hear Kean say that he bogged up, they need to hear him say that in any normal football club his position would have been untenable months ago, and he would, by now, have been sacked. No true Rovers supporter, whether a mouthy dissenter like me, or the hundreds who have been worn down by the 'Lack of kean PR machine.' {catchy eh?) will ever be happy with kean in charge, because that would mean accepting, and, being a part of his sad delusional world. He has the job, he has the wage, but whilst at Rovers, unless he accepts that Northerners value honesty, pride and hard work and he crawls, begging for forgiveness and another chance. He will never have the kudos of a top rated football manager because his record at Rovers will haunt him as well as us. I could not live like that, no Lancastrian I know could live like that....... why should we have to put up with someone like that.

Every Match, let the Rovers Roar KEAN OUT!!!!!
