Singh wants to keep Rovers squad intact, but says ‘unhappy players’ can go

BLACKBURN Rovers will not stand in the way of “unhappy players” leaving Ewood Park this summer – but are hopeful they can convince the majority to remain in East Lancashire.

Rovers’ new ‘global advisor’ Shebby Singh insists the club don’t want any of their squad to depart – as they look to add new faces – but believes players have to “want” to be part of the Ewood future.

Steve Kean is hopeful of securing a two-year deal for Fulham veteran Danny Murphy, with a bumper pay-packet on offer, while striker target Leon Best is understood to be mulling over his Newcastle United future.

But, while they bid to strengthen their squad, Rovers know they have a job on their hands keeping most of their top names at the club.

The out of contract Junior Hoilett is certain to leave, while Yakubu is close to a big-money move to China for £1million, due to a release clause his contract.

Mauro Formica, Gael Givet, Scott Dann, Steven Nzonzi, Paul Robinson – potentially to Besiktas – and Martin Olsson are all understood to be eyeing Ewood exits, leaving Singh ready to back youth if the more senior stars demand departures.

He said: “We do not want to lose anyone but, under the circumstances, if there are players that we cannot hang on to then we will have to let them go. There is no doubt about that.

“We can’t keep unhappy players because by letting unhappy players go it will create more opportunities for the local players. I think the time has come now to reward the boys who have come through from the academy.

“Look at Jason Lowe. I don’t think Jason Lowe would have gotten a look in, now he is considered one of the senior players.

“We are going to build from within and it is time we did that. We know though we need a few older heads to help them on their way.

“We want to keep everyone but if there is someone who is really, really unhappy we can’t have that. I think last season from the outside looking in, I think certain players were unhappy and that created a very, very bad atmosphere.”

Singh has pleaded with last season’s top scorer Yakubu not to “go into retirement” by moving to China and believes Olsson could be a key player in helping Rovers back into the Premier League.

The former Malaysian international, who has worked as a football pundit for the past decade, is also hoping he can play a key role in helping the players at the club progress.

He said: “I have read a club in China are interested in Yakubu. I will tell Yak he is too young to go into a retirement home. He can still contribute and go to China in a few seasons.

“For example if Martin Olsson wants to leave now, yes he would go to a Premier League club. But will he be in the starting XI? He still has age on his side.

“He could stay with us for the next two or three seasons and be one of the main players to take us back to the Premier League.

“If anyone can analyse the strength and weaknesses of the player it is me. I have been doing that for 15 years and I can help them by talking to them.

“That is what I intend to do. I think the players need an arm around their shoulders and need to be reminded of their strengths. They need to be released of outside influences to enjoy themselves.

“I think counselling is very, very important. There is not enough of that sometimes. A lot of knee jerk reactions do leave players exposed. The grass is not always greener on the other side.”

Ah, the delusions of the befuddled and simple minded. Venkys seem to be singling out those poor confused folk and charitably giving them employment. Sadly that employment includes sticking their heads even deeper in the sand whilst slowly but steadily destroying a founder member club of the football league. Perhaps we loyal few we band of p@ssed off brothers should pile in with a few de-constructive suggestions, lets change arte et labore to (in a scots accent) ' we're all doomed', we could even write it in Latin just for the kudos it would give to our friends in India. Anyhoo back to reality. If I was a 'star' player for Rovers, working under the present system of insanity, I would be dreaming of a job cleaning the toilets for millwall... I would have said burnley but lets keep this credible. No 'real' professional would want to stay at Rovers under the present regime. Just take a look at comments made by salgado and givet et al. Venky's, singh anderson and kean are like retarded children playing with their expensive toys, giving no thought at all to those who help fund their lifestyles, the supporters who genuinely and sincerely love the club, the club that many have supportd for decades and who can trace that support through past generations. Since last season, nothing has changed for the better. Venkys in India are in the right job, because when it comes to the professional and responsible nurturing of a club with all the traditions Rovers have, all venky's have shown they can do is run around like a bunch of headless chickens..... Think I'll follow Accrington stanley this season, none of my money will prop up this criminally insane bunch of idiots, until they start listening to their supporters.

So, yesterday "we have loads of money to spend" and today we have, in effect, told ALL senior players they can leave if they want AND that actually he now clearly says we arn't going to spend lots of money but add "one or two senior players" (YES MEN) and replace our departing first team squad with youth team players.
.
Yesterday he said everything was "changing" at Rovers and they were learning and would bring the fans round in time - It is clear that they have NO INTENTION of changing ANYTHING - it is the same old bull but with just one difference - Shabby Shiek is the one doing it instead of Mr Potatohead.
.
As for we have "no debt" which Shabby stated yesterday - this maybe true but that is NOT the same thing as not having financial problems.
.
Unless Venkys have put money into the club (not as a loan) but cash in then we will have financial problems in the next 6-9 months - basic maths shows this. We will have droped around £25m in this coming year in finances and the club simply cannot reduce the wage bill by this amount (also ST and corperate sponsership and advertising have collapsed and will not pickup until this "civil war" that Venkys and Kean have created is over).
.
On a football note - Danny Murphy is a good player but why would we want to sign him ? - we have 1 ageing, over weght, ball-playing, injury prone senior pro on top dollar - why would you want to sign another, surely they wouldnt play in the same side ?

I think the rest will stay, but only for one more season. if things dont change soon though come January no amount of councelling will work if we're not getting results and baldy is still very much in charge. I'll go with the collective responsibility for the time being as tbh, some player decisions last season beggered belief and on truth didnt appear to be in keans control. That said though, if venkys are now spending money as Andy claims, then theres no more excuses to be had.

Whilst most of us are under no illusions that better players will leave this shambles, we do now get a clearer picture of what really to expect. We are going to look more at bringing youth through. That will be the only positive to come out of another relegation battle.
I see a player who left us for Byern munich is now being linked to Fulham to replace an ageing andy johnson who we were in for. Pity we just didn't keep the 19 year old instead of cashing in.

1. You don't give a hoot about the fans and their views
2. The asset stripping will continue as long as you have any interested buyers & that goes beyond just the playing staff
3. Once step 2 is complete you'll claim to "be in shock" and go into hiding while frantically trying to sell our club
4. Once that is achieved and Rovers are left in oblivion you'll leg it back to Pune and make Kean king of the chicken-pluckers (he’d be good at that).

No right minded individual should renew; apologies to all those that have and feel they are doing the right thing by supporting the Rovers but, as far as I am concerned, every penny spent at Ewood is lining Venky's & Kean's pockets and I for one am not having any part of that.

.
An empty home stadium for the first few games and players ensure we pick up only 1 or 2 points tops from the first 6 games.
.
Then the season starts again with a new manager.
.
We have the power to do it - is everyone brave enough to do it even if you have bought an ST? I will not knock Rovers fans who have bought an ST but I do question their desire to be rid of Kean and do what is essential for the future of our club if they turn up for the first few games.

This has long looked like a farce - but is beginning to look like one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

So, everyone that wants to leave can! I reckon if that is the case then we will be left with Kean, Anderson (M), Orr, Dunn and Pedersen. I dare say that wouldn't be a bad 5-a-side team up at the Soccerdome at Guide - but not so great for the tough gig of the Championship.

Anybody happening on Ewood Park next season may mistake it for the Marie Celeste - a ground abandoned with no crew, becalmed and in full sail adrift in an ocean - the only difference is nobody knew what happened with the Marie Celeste - but we all know why Ewood will be a ghost ship next season.

If your house had been burgled and 6 months later you saw somebody with a stocking over their head breaking in your back door, would you put history behind you and give him the benefit of the doubt? I can believe any Rovers fan still has to be convinced or is in any doubt about what is going on at our club. These individuals havent applied for a job fair and square, a job they had the CV for. They have been cherry picked from a group of people who would sell their grannys for some status. They are part of a circle of people with no morals, inept, inexperienced in football. They are all related in some way. They all have one thing in common. They have believe they can feed the fans any sh'@t they choose and we are all stupid enough to swallow it without thinking. When I saw Shabby Singh's picture I thought "he looks a shifty t.w.a.t" and as soon as I read his comments it was confirmed. His "swerve" on his position regarding Kean's tenure as manager, while it would have been impressive on the pitch as man of the match against Shrewsbury Town or wherever it was, immediately tells everyone that Shabby has no credentials to be Rovers "Global" adviser. What a ridiculous, self-aggrandising, title for a jumped up, oily, non-entity. Well, Shabby, it won't look so global this coming season when you are advising the visitors at depressing dumps like Burnley.

Rovers have been wrecked in the last 18 months and despite all of the assertions we don't know if it is due to incompetence, or assett stripping, or a mixture. But, we are, where we are. The Venkys own the club and, sadly, they can do what they like with it. I would rather that they sold it to someone who wanted it, had some fincial resources and knew what to do. Until that day, I would like them to learn from their mistakes and turn things round. In this article, he has said things that I would hope an important person, in the structure of the club, would say. You can't keep players that want to leave - they sow disharmony. We have a good youth structure and giving youth a chance will help that develop - come to Rovers, we give youth a chance. Because Blackburn is a small town (compared to some others in the Championship) but with a committed fanbase, budgets have to be managed tightly, so building on youth makes sense. However, youth needs leadership and good role models, especially in a tough league like the Championship - folk like Jason Roberts, Keith Andrews, but many fans wanted them out. Danny Murphy appears to be a good example for young players, but how expensive is he and for how long can he deliver? I'll give Mr Singh a chance, he's talking the talk, but I won't be parting with money until I the club start walking the walk as well.

The thing is, I would be happy for any / all of our curent squad to leave (we were relegated remember -and there is genuinely no point convincing players to stay who don't want to be there and fight for the club), but there would need to be two conditions in place:

1. We replace the muppet that is Steve Kean with a manager with experience of leading a team out of the Championship and keeping them in the Premier League (not advocating him in particular, but Steve Bruce is free at the moment for example)
2. We replace each outgoing player with a player of equal cost - chosen by the new manager not Kean or the owners or Anderson (are they all one and the same person?)

I then think we might have a chance.

As for putting an arm round players and reminding them how good they are and what a joy it is to be at Rovers at the moment:

- isn't that Kean's job, and wasn't that his job last year (oh, yes, and he failed in his job last year, which is why he's staying in place)
- why on earth are players going to welcome / be thankful for Shebby's arm round their shoulder????????

Had enough - are we signing Murphy and Best or has the news of potential signings led Singh to say we're not spending any money so as to dampen expectations (hang on .... what expectations?!!).

Why did this have to happen to us?

.
They have ignored fans totally and lets not forget that. You can talk all day but it is pointless just like Kean's teams.
.
The only thing that will get action will be an empty stadium to start the season and then start again only when Kean is gone. An empty stadium will be more effective than just holding back cash because it will cause great embarrassment whilst the parachute payment will cushion the massive shortfall in ST revenue. All Rovers fans must be together until Kean goes.
.
If we don't draw a line in the sand at this point then we never will - simple as that.

So basically we're keeping the same owners and manager, the only difference is it will be Shoddy Sing and the programme writer telling us lies rather than the guy who puts cones out on the training ground. Have I understood that correctly?

Well worth spending 6 weeks 'confused' whilst the likes of Cardiff, Leicester and Hull make plans for next season with real managers and owners who are putting money in.

So the bald liar says we're going to sign experienced players to get us promoted and Shoddy Singer says we're promoting academy players. They're both such honest people, which should we believe?

So we now know what the agenda was "Rovers are now debt free" The Premier league became second to the debt. The questions now are now will Venky's listen to the fans and players?,will they make sufficient funds available?,Will Kean be judged on results and is he the right man for the job? Do they seriously believe that Kean can buy the right players, his track record suggests otherwise. His first task would be to win over the trust of the fans, and probably some players, given his comments and actions from last season, that seems unlikely.Rovers need stability and trust all round,Venky's have done nothing to show that this will happen. It needs owners to show they are interested and support the club by actually taking the time to watch them.
The Championship will be difficult to play in,it will be a culture shock to some players. I believe with the right people in the right place we can make a challenge to get out at the first attempt. The biggest problem is the "right people in the right place."

I am a bit concerned that we may be having to offer shed loads of money for experienced players to come, because we can't afford it on the attendances we are probably going to get. Still, if he is to run the club, he has to remain calm, communicate and achieve results on the pitch. 20 points after 10 games.
Do you really think that if newcomers came in they would keep Keane? I think not. He'd be out on his ear. He's only still here because he has a 'special' relationship with Madam Desai.

The Murphy and Best stunt is the oldest trick in the book. Woeful ticket sales and revolting supporters need dealing with. Start a rumour about a 'big name' player coming to the club and get people thinking that you have ambitions and a clue what is happening. Don't believe any of it. Even if Murphy comes he'll be on and off the injury table all season and will probably follow in Simon Vukcevic's footsteps by spending the entire season on the bench for no reason whatsoever.

Difficult question for Mr. Morst. He hated it when we were winning under Big Sam.
That is so pathetic Bazzer - have you anything at all constructive to say?
.
FR - to answer your "fair" comment and question - I think if we lost the first 6, 8 or 10 games next season it would have to guarantee even Keanoccio getting the sack? On that basis it would be worth it because I have long since (though not as early as Bazzer!) decided this club can never move forward until kean is gone and I can never attend Ewood until he is gone. On that basis I can only look forward to results once he is gone.
.
I agree a few fans will go on but as I posted earlier I therefore question their real desire to be rid of Kean if they do? Talk is cheap - 15,000 Rovers ST's from 2010 have not renewed as firm action by them and it needs the rest to now join them.
.
It will only be a short period in our history if Fans stick together. That's why its a line in the sand Now or Never for me. If fans don't respond after the treatment of the last 18 months they never will - simple as that.
.
But it needs BRAG to be brave and not weak this weekend and call for an all out boycott until Kean is gone. They will now have by far the majority support if they do. If BRAG dither - thet lose!

hi mr morst....i agree with the good effect an empty stadium will create for the world (though I can't see that happening as there will still be a few thou go on..) but why do you only want Rovers to pick-up one or two points from the first six games? What good will that do us except put us deeper in the brown stuff..? It wont guarantee us a new manager at least not based on last seasons losses (didn't make any difference then as the loser still kept his job) so not sure why they would sack Kean if we lost games this coming season. Losing games is not the answer - whatever the question is.
If BRAG dither - thet lose!
.
34th....
I really don't think that anything Kean does will get him the sack from the current owners.

Only a new regime/owners will see Kean gone.

I don't know what the answer is to that or even what the right action is to take....

Boycott all home games? Go on and slate Kean & Venkys right through the match? Hope Brag has some ace up their sleeve that can make all this go away legally?

I have to admit that I will probably be back home in September and if it coincided with a home game then yes I will almost certainly go. I miss watching the Rovers so much that even with all the rubbish and the terrible things they have dome to my club over the last 18 months or so then the pull is still too strong for me to stay away. Would probably be different if I still lived in Blackburn....but not sure. Sorry but at least I am honest about it which is more than a lot on here can say.

Real fans should ignore Derek and his campaign to run the club into the ground, Derek/Morst is only urging fans to boycott as he is long term unemployed. he can't afford a season ticket.

All this talk of Derek meeting his yuppy friends at the exclusive members only £20.000 per year gym is just "pie in the sky" i know Derek personally and i can assure you folks that he only weigh's 7 stone. he looks like one of them kids in a vietnam war film who has malnutrition even though he's nearly 60.

I personally know about six people who have asked for, and received refunds on their season tickets. It would be very interesting if our local rag could find out just how many refunds the club has given.

I would also wager that NO CLUB in the history of our game, has had as many season tickets cancelled, as we have had. Long may it continue. Starve the B'STARDS OF CASH!

Kean OUT! Venky's OUT! Anderson OUT! Orr OUT! Agnew OUT! And SHABBY OUT! OUT! OUT!
I know two who have got refunds. The rest of us didnt renew. Anybody wanting a refund should send a letter rather than phone in then you have a record and something to refer to if you dont get a response. State clearly you want your ticket refunding. You dont have to give reasons but one they cant argue with is that Kean stated there is no chance of relegation. You can quote it directly from the Lancashire Telegraph. He was wrong to give false assurances. Of course people arent asking for refunds due to relegation but it makes it clear cut.

Article in Yesterday's The Asian Age.

"Another shocker by Venky's.
Blackburn Rovers recently appointed Shebby Singh as the Director of Football. The appointment shows the sad decline of a club which is one of only five teams to have won the English Premier League, after it’s rechristening in 1992.
When the Venky’s took over Blackburn Rovers in November 2010, Blackburn supporters resigned themselves to hearing chicken jokes from rivals.
However, they felt a slight curiosity in their future as the Venky’s prom-ised that they would get Blackburn to the top of the league. They would sign Ronaldinho if necessary, they said. They eventually signed Yakubu.
In retrospect, the first mistake was probably sacking Sam Allardyce too fast. Allardyce is not a manager with finesse, his teams play the typical English way. However, he does not get relegated and expertises in getting his club mid-table without too much of a fuss.
Unfortunately, Venky’s are apparently putting all their hope into a ‘football expert’ who suggested at the beginning of last season that Newcastle United would get relegated.
It’s almost as if Anuradha Desai was watching a match on ESPN and thought, ‘Hmmm, this guy thinks Steven Gerrard should play at right-back, what innovative thinking, let’s make him responsible for our transfers.’

"Another shocker by Venky's.
Blackburn Rovers recently appointed Shebby Singh as the Director of Football. The appointment shows the sad decline of a club which is one of only five teams to have won the English Premier League, after it’s rechristening in 1992.

And the tragedy continues.....

After our first defeat at Ipswich, Shabby,We were not scoring so I told Kean,Move Robinson to his natural position upfront, put Dunny in goal. Kean, we were unlucky, Hic. it very nearly worked, if Dunny hadn't been so fat he would have saved those 4 goals. Hic. I am working on a new system for our next match, Hic. its 3---7--1--0. We are going to use all our goalkeepers at once. Didn't guess that did you, Hic. takes real intelligence to come up with a system like that I saw Disney use it in one of their films. Hic. Although they were animals. Hic. need another wee dram.

Say what you want, but I agree that anyone who doesn't buy in to Kean's vision should get out of the club. You sack him...or BACK HIM

The whole thing is a mess. Even if Kean was sacked (and this looks highly unlikely given he has demonstrated incompetence beyond belief and still remains in the job), who with any sense (or ability) would replace him and work for Venkys?

Incase you don't understand what all the unhappy fans are saying Mr. Singh let me put it in a much more simpler way...

f*** off and take Venky's and Kean with you.

Have you asked the players, why they are unhappy.
A very good question. But then again we know the answer to that don't we. Its just the chicken pluckers who want to ignore the reasons why.

Dream team Venky`s owners chicken magnates or are they ?

Shebby Singh talks rubbish , as a player about pub league standard

Kean never kicked a ball professionally neither in England nor Scotland also pub standard asa player.

Hendry "now who would be good for a tap" he can collect the subs !

Definately a good management team for the Blackburn and district pub league.
