I think you're getting confused with Ronnie Clayton. I hope your book is more factually correct.

My nomination Douglas and Ferguson

Never saw Douglas, so can't include him in my list. Brotherston should be here, although he also played a lot on the left wing if I remember. Ripley has to be there. And then I'd say Bentley - what a waste of talent since he left.

Brotherston/Miller or Bentley

Morst The 88th Min Heartbreaker of Dingles! says...
2:02pm Thu 21 Jun 12

Noel Brotherston was the most skilful dribling winger I ever saw at Ewood. An extra yard of pace and he would have been a world beater.
.
In the late 60's when I was first taken to Ewood my memories of Bryan Douglas was him playing inside right in a sort of Messi role - was he an out and out right winger earlier in his career?
.
Ripley had skill and seemed to know where Shearer would be.

It can only be Bryan Douglas.

This is were these polls fail. Most of the people voting never saw him - and for that I feel sorry for you

Think your are correct Morst, Douggie was mainly an inside forward from what I remember.

The best winger was Jonnie Price, he was the only player I have seen to do the "double" nutmeg on a defender. He had the ability to not only pass the ball through a defender's legs, but also run through them himself!!

On a serious side, I would nominate Mike Ferguson, Stuart Ripley and David Bentley

Hello
Again I am Vladislav of Bulgaria and I am a fan of Blackburn Rovers FC. On the news reaching me on the development of your favorite team, I understand that nothing new is happening so I want to challenge you with this notice, owners of my club - Venky’S and their favorite Steve Kean. I do not know what to do in the next nearly two months because so remain until the start of next season, but if this year I mean to 22.12.2012 year and our team is with a total of 10 points as last season or something like that without no chance to attack in place allowing participation in the Premiership let's agree and if this happens YOU the club owners will agree to sell the club.
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS CHALLENGE!
I throw gloves!

I'm sure one of my all time favourites played on wing from time to time Tony Field....remember Eamon Rogers.

Was ian 'windy' millar not a right winger? Not saying he was the best we ever had - but he would be in the top ten for sure. He played almost 300 games for us I think in the eighties and he was like a greyhound down the wing. Also played that famous day at Wembley when we won the FM Cup....

A lot of years ago now, I played against a lad called Jack Airey. He went onto play for BRFC and played right wing when B. Douglas was on England duty. With any other team he would have made it. What a player. There is no comparison to name the right winger ever at Blackburn Rovers. I saw him outshine Best at Man. Unt. a Blackburn Legend along with R. Clayton. I was so lucky to have seen him. I now live in Spain but follow the TEAM. Really hope things change next season.

Bryan Douglas by a mile but he did play quite a few games at No 10 inside forward as it was then !! Joy to watch !!

Brian Douglas was a class act and for those asking the question above he was an outright winger who in his later years when his speed left him played inside forward to prolong his career. Without a doubt there has only been three better wingers in this country than Brian viz; Finney, Matthews and Best. Thats how good he was.
Ripley and Brothersone were the next best for Rovers.

I have seen all the Rovers wingers mentioned by every one.The best of them by a mile was Bryan Douglas. How I remember the crowd roaring in anticipation, when he started to turn it on. He could turn a match on its head, in a moment of sheer brilliance. Without a doubt the Rovers best player of his era, and also Englands. Taking over the mantle from the legendary Stanley Matthews and Tommy Finney to become a legend himself, to be every bit as good as them.
