Singh sets the agenda at Blackburn Rovers

RUNNING THE SHOW Blackburn Rovers’ global advisor Shebby Singh at Ewood Park yesterday RUNNING THE SHOW Blackburn Rovers’ global advisor Shebby Singh at Ewood Park yesterday

Blackburn Rovers new global advisor Shebby Singh has said Steve Kean’s job is safe for now – but has warned everyone at the club ‘action will be taken’ if targets are not met.

Singh, 51, has revealed he will run the club for owners Venky’s from Ewood Park and vowed to win the battle ahead with the fans and other critics.

The former Malaysian international had called for Kean to be sacked in his previous role as a football pundit just a month ago, in Singapore newspaper ‘The New Paper’, but has now said everyone starts with a ‘clean slate’.

He also told the Lancashire Telegraph he was hopeful of signing two players within the next week after insisting transfer funds had been made available to Steve Kean.

The Lancashire Telegraph understand Fulham’s veteran midfielder Danny Murphy is one of those targets, with an offer now believed to have been made to him and Kean due to meet him imminently.

Singh also assured supporters there were “zero” financial problems at the club with all debts cleared by his bosses.

Singh’s column in May has raised questions among Rovers fans after he said “looking from a football pundit’s point of view, Steve Kean is obviously not the man to lead Blackburn Rovers back to the Premiership.”

But now, Singh is ready to give Kean a chance.

He said: “What happened is over and at this moment in time, Steve is the manager. He will start pre season training.

“As with everyone else involved at the club there will be ‘keeping eyes’ put into place and everyone will have to meet set targets.

“It is the collective. We can take the short cut and say it is an individual failure but the way I and the Venky’s look at things is saying it is a collective failure.

“It is a clean slate for everyone. In my capacity as a football pundit I said that about Steve, that was my job, now as a global advisor I have different responsibilities.

“My job as a football pundit was to be critical. Now my job is to be constructive. It is essential Blackburn Rovers get back into the Premier League but I won’t set a timeline. That will put pressure on.”

Singh has described himself as “the eyes and ears” for Venky’s and insists he has the jurisdiction to make big decisions - something that has been lacking at the club in the past.

Colin Hendry is also still expected to join the backroom staff, although he awaits a formal offer, and former Liverpool, Leeds and Leicester man Ian Silvester has been confirmed as club secretary.

Singh said: “For me it is the biggest challenge of my life. There is a lot we need to prove. It is very important for us to regroup. Not just the club but the fans.

“From the outside looking in you could feel the emotions of the fans last season. That is not a good thing and is a battle that will a long time to win.

“I can say the club has got absolutely zero financial problems. Whatever was inherited has been cleared. There is no debt.

“Transfer funds are available and within the next one week we will have at least two signings. We are very advanced in our negotiations and talks.”

Seems the other signing is going to be Leon Best from Newcastle. Apparently they accepted Rovers bid of 2 million for him and its up to the player to agree terms with the Rovers. Personally I cant see him coming and dropping down a league, and now that this news is out that Best is available then other prem teams will surely come in for him. Got to admit he would be a cracking signing though.

The fans are well passed the point of no return (no pun intended).
Only the dismissal of Kean will start to heal the wounds inflicted on us by the Venky's and even that only goes part way towards what we want. We know we are not going to get rid of this regime overnight. But the boost to morale would be enormous, if they would only see sense and get rid of Kean. I am sure even the players would be relieved and they might start to believe that with a proper manager we could even get out of this division at the first time of asking. A big ask I know but any hope is better than none.

Getting the signings in early is the only way we are going to keep some of the better players we already have, but they have to be the right players. The likes of Robinson, Olsson(s), Hanley, Lowe, Peders, Rochina could stay if they thought we had a chance of going up and were not just going to float around mid table.

Just do something first, and talk about it after. Thats all we want. Honesty, HONESTY, the truth, not Dan Browns version of events. We want honesty, facts, action and communication after you've done something worthy of judgement.

the last year and a half have been poor, when i was hoping for so much more. however, i am not one for absolutes. i personally feel kean has been poor, but i am not a manager or chief exec, so recognise that i am less experienced than those i would be critical of. and it is fair to say there have been some bizarre circumstances to deal with, so it may be unfair of us to judge his management without that broader context.
venky's too have been really poor - inexcusably so in the case of communication. so i feel we are at a point where we have two directions of travel from which we can hope to rebuild
a) make wholesale changes to the ownership and management structure. this is largely out of the fans' control as venky's do not seem inclined to sell or dispose of kean.
b) accept that the ownership and management will remain and allow some leaway over the implementation of these new plans and investments.
realistically we all continue to support rovers, even though the venky's reign has led to extremely emotive responses from many. i for one will not give up on the club this season and wil get to whatever games i can when i get to travel back up north. i respect others for approaching it in an compltely different way, but for me new season suggests the opportunity for a new start, regardless of who's in charge.

Agreed.

Clean slate is one thing, but given thst kean now has the funds and soon the players - according to singh - then his tenure should be marked by early results as he's already had more than a season to settle into the job and if there is a strong lineup and he is unable to get the best out of them as he proved last year, then it shouldn't take many games to come to the conclusion that Kean is the weak link.

Firstly you all criticise the club for the lack of info and how all the fans are being left in the dark about how Blackburn is being run and the decisions that are being made.

Then finally you get some information about next season, about having money to spend and about potential incoming transfers and you still criticise the new guy, and all because basically Kean and Venkys haven't been sacked as you have been demanding.

Why don't you just relax, and see what the summer brings, because I will be honest if Burnley were planning on signing Danny Murphy and Leon Best then I would be a happy man.

Well, I'm sure I can speak for most on here when I say we would not have a problem with a little debt by way of a severance package for the 'I got Fulham promoted Odious One' ?

Slate clean ?

Well, we have been here before such as the time 2 seasons ago after the last gasp win over Wolves when the clean slate was promised, If I recall something said along those lines ?

Singh, your quote that Kean is not the man to take Blackburn back into the Prem league was absolutely correct, and on that basis why did you not stick to that line when you were in discussions with Venky over your new super duper roll ?

Oh, I get it, towing the line. Not rocking the already sinking ship that is the good ship Ewood.

Venky set up a bank A/C and I will contribute funds that help in paying this Odious One's severance package !

Pressure ?

Wait until the Odious One is pitted against those who are well versed in the Championship League.

The horrible detestable liar is, and will not ever be up to managing at a high level. What is the Odious One displaying to Venky regards his football acumen that see's him still installed as manager ? They are being taken for utter fool's by this 'Odious One' and whoever is advising them.

Do they or yourself not understand that IF you rid BRFC of Odious One, and install a manager of repute even from the lower Leagues that Ewood would be packed to the rafters along with an atmosphere that hasn't been heard or seen for a number of years ?

Wipe the slate clean by ridding us of the cloak of despair. It is that simple.

If the Odious One steps foot anywhere near that ground then be assured, I will not.

My money is pledged to BRSIT, and gaining interest daily. Not a penny more will you people receive from me until you do the correct thing.

It certainly seperates the real fans who care only for the club and those with hidden agendas or prejudices.

I for one, am glad that there's finally some clear communication from the club.

Dear Mr Singh - now that you seem to have replaced the non existent Mr Agnew as the spokes person for the club - can I assure you that I - as a supporter for over 40 years - will not set foot inside Ewood Park until Mr Kean is sacked and that there are clear indications that there is a transparent process in place that is in the interest of the club and not those that have purely cynical financial motives.

That commitment will remain even if by some miracle we are successful this season.

Can I add that adding Mr Hendry to the staff of the club will continue to tarnish the reputation of a once proud club.

What ever credibility he once had has gone - for ever. It would patronise the supporters still more to assume that he would enable a bridge to be built between supporter and club. Not a chance.

Think very carefully Mr Singh and talk to the decent people who were once associated with this club to get a clear and unbiased opinion of what has happened and, more importantly now, what needs to happen.

It will also be worth your while to go and stand in front of the statue of Jack Walker and try get a sense of what true leadership is all about and what this club means to Blackburn people.

Or of course you could always assume that what they are saying is bullsh*t and act accordingly without giving them a chance............?

Understandable to be fair all things considering, but like I have said earlier, should the two new signings be unveiled as Murphy and Best then neither will have been cheap and maybe are a sign of better times to come, as they are certainly two players that would thrive in the Championship.

at least let's give it some time to be proved bulldust or not. he's stated advance transfer discussions and other sources suggest that's with murphy and best. that will be a starting point - to see genuine bids going in for the type of players we realistically need, with hopefully one or two actually signing. from there, they can start to prove themselves in other ways and therefore take some steps towards rebuilding the confidence amongst fans which they have been solely responsible for losing in the first place.

Clear communication? Are you for real?

Clear communication is telling us why Steve Kean is still in charge. Real reasons, not nonsense. They've said he's there because he got Fulham promoted, but he clearly didn't, he has zero football management experience bar Rovers, only coaching experience.

How are lies on the very first day clear communication?

Saying anyone who doesn't just swallow these lies has a hidden agenda, makes me wonder if you have a hidden agenda.

Are you actually a real fan? Are you now happy with this amazing communication we are now getting?

What about just being honest with the fans? What about answering our most pressing question - what is Steve Kean still doing at the club?

"Clean slates" and lies don't wash I'm afraid with such an important issue.

What is Steve Kean still doing at the club? Who wants him there and why?

The fans just want answers, and they have to be honest after so long being treated disgracefully.

We don't need time, we already know it's ****.

When did Steve Kean get Fulham promoted?

Any fool can see that's clearly ****, but we are supposed to just accept that, after everything else we've had to take?

You might need time to see if it's lies or not, everyone else unfortunately can look up on the net and see it immediately.

Nothing against this Shebby Singh fella, I just think the fans deserve some honesty now after all that's happened and Steve Kean is still in charge.

More lies and future promises aren't good enough any more, we are sick to the back teeth of those.

I for one, am glad that there's finally some clear communication from the club.
Even if it's bullsh*t?
He's a new appointment, so how do you know?

I'm skeptical to say the least after the lies last season by baldadonna, but if we refuse to believe anything and turn ur backs on the club, is it Venky's we aee hurting more - or the club?
BashirShar, with all due respect to you regards your comments this latest showing, is at best, more rhetoric.

Of course, we are hurting the club, but, that is the way this saga as unfolded. The only people able to ease this hurt and pain are Venky by doing the right thing(s).

Should they do that then I will return, as I have for 39 years, to Ewood.

Whatever the mitigating circumstances are for retaining Kean they just do not stack up for me ? It is pish poor decision making from the highest level and, in my mind, endorses the facts that they are clueless as regards running a football club and, more importantly that they are prepared to alienate the supporter base.

The cost or price being paid, is indeed, a high one, and that if this season does not pan out with any modicum of success then I am convinced the road back will be a long and arduous one and, as you quite rightly point out, the club, Blackburn Rovers Football Club will be the one who bears the whole punishment for the fiasco that I truly believe could, and should have been avoided had more experience and patience have been applied.

The Odious One is culpable for this all situation with his bluster that persuaded Venky in appointing him in the first place with little or no experience in managing such a critical period in BRFC's history.

Staggering, to say the least !

Just a thought ?

"Singh sets the agenda" - by calling for Steve Kean to be sacked....

Then becomes Blackburn Rovers employee and changes his tune... Amazing really. Short of a change of ownership the only thing that could bring fans back onside is to remove Steve Kean from the club completely.

I'm willing to give Shebby the time but its not a good start to get conned on Day 1, in his first interview he already believes Steve got Fulham promoted. By Christmas he will probably believe that he was responsible for the 1995 Championship

Surely you will only know it's bullsh*t by letting things run their course.

Or of course you could always assume that what they are saying is bullsh*t and act accordingly without giving them a chance............?
Everyone will assume it's bullsh*t, because that is all that we've heard over the last 18 calamitous months, apart from lies of course.
Understandable to be fair all things considering, but like I have said earlier, should the two new signings be unveiled as Murphy and Best then neither will have been cheap and maybe are a sign of better times to come, as they are certainly two players that would thrive in the Championship.
If they aren't cheap then they should save the money and sack the manager. That would be by far the best purchase they could make.

When a manager has performed so badly, and treated the fans with such derision, then there is no going back. Especially within football, an industry known for ditching managers.

After a kamikaze pilot, a football manager is the most dispensable job there is. Everyone knows that. Something goes wrong, you sack the manager. Steve Kean has f*cked up heroically but he's still here though. I cannot think of a manager in history who has done worse but still kept his job.

That's what we want answers to. Anything else - players or whatnot - it doesn't matter. It's this massive question of Steve Kean's continued pressence that everyone can't understand but no-one from the club is answering, including this new fella Shebby.

Clean slate? Clean slate with who? The fans? The owners? The players? He had a clean slate with all these people but he sullied it beyond belief.

Or does he get a clean slate every time we get a new "Director of Football" or "General Manager"? With the revolving door of recruitment which Venkys have, that could be a lot of clean slates to put up with.

You will see from recent posts that I have a lot of critics on here most have appeared since you commented on a post I made.
Those who chose to will see on looking that I asked you a question, you have declined to answer, you obviously don't have to.
You are holding a meeting to which I cant attend but wouldn't even if I was available, If you want to have a pop at me on here that's fine but I feel it is cowardly of you not to reply to me on here and some how think its fair to expect me to attend your meeting.
The question I asked was nothing to with the rights or wrongs on anything to do with BRFC it is nothing to do with venkys or sk or the FA It was to clarify the outcome if Venkys etc are proven to have acted outside the laws of the game. It is similar to being accused of pinching a bag of crisps from Mr Tesco and asking Mr Policeman if I am convicted of this what are the punishments I might receive.
Glen I find it very hard to understand why you wont answer a simple question. I know a lot have fans on here are giving their opinions on here but I would ask you to reflect on your position as acting on behalf of supporters if you refuse to reply.

The question I asked you Glen was :-
If your are successful with your actions with the FA could a possible outcome be a points deduction or Relegation for BRFC.

Now I know every one can tell me their opinion or act on your behalf But because of your position and the fact you had a pop at me on here I am asking you to answer the question on here or explain why you cant

Awful grammar....the amount of times you use the word “here” in one sentence is terrible. I would suggest if you are going to write a serious post and want to be taken as such, you should be grammatically correct.

And the circus rolls on. Shebby Singh Global Adviser and Cowboy Keane stays as manager.

What the hell is a Global Adviser and more to the point how does a bonkers low grade tv pundit qualify for such a role?

At least we know what Keane brings. Lies, spin and a complete lack of ability and talent.

Only the Venky's are stupid enough to keep producing the torrent of bulls**t that flows out of Ewood.

Where would the venky kids be if daddy hadn't left them a business??

Cleaning up other peoples s**te rather than creating it is my guess.

Well, I suppose we will know just how many " boycott boys" there really are come the first home game.. that will be interesting. Will I be in an "empty Ewood"?
Probably not I suspect. Gates will be down for sure following our glorious triumphs of last season but not as bad as the propaganda posters make out.
But if I am on my own in the Blackburn End I will give you a wave!
BTW- to the one(s) who slagged me off yesterday re the Bilic post I hoped you had the wit to realise I was being whimsical, having a little joke?
And as for the spelling of Pyrrhic I was unsure whether to put the "h" in or not, but that is because it is a long time since I read the Classics.
Oh dear, am I being patronising again Cyril?
Still supporting as always!

It's no good pretending any longer you are going to get meetings or communications with this lot. They will only understand an empty stadium.
.
We will not be treated in this SHABBY way any longer. To enter Ewood at present is to offer support to these awful people. Even if you bought an ST you can still join the other 15,000 former ST's who have not bought one by getting a refund (or cancel your DD) or by simply not turning up until all fans agree to. An empty stadium will bring massive press pressure on these fake custodians.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone going to a home game this season is breaching a picket line and destroying our club. Everyone must cease investing in this regime. That is the ONLY way to get rid of Kean and his flunkies.

Shebby has warned, everyone at the club that action will be taken if targets are not met. He then goes on to say that it is essential that Blackburn Rovers get back to the premier league, but wont set a timeline, as that will put pressure on.

Those two statements surely contradict each other, or am I missing something?

That attitude will cause division between fans, when we should all be in this together.

Some people will go to the match because they feel it's the right feel to do. We should never hold it against those who want to do that.

I presume Shebby Singh's main role as International Ambassador is to attract fans from overseas. As a commentator and journalist on the EPL in the Asian subcontinent he will have a lot of followers who will be interested in what he is doing at Blackburn.
I don't know how the TV rights work outside of the UK but I'm guessing that all Blackburns games will be available to purchase via internet or satellite TV.
Keans position is, therefore, irrelevant as these new 'fans' will not have seen his performance over the last couple of seasons and that is why he is allowed to stay.
Of course they (Venkys etc) will read the thousands of comments in the LET and have thought 'f*ck you' and in their mind they see a large fan base being built afresh. Granted, the loss of revenue from Ewood Park will hurt but it is small potatoes compared to TV money etc - not to mention merchandising (now where is that being made?).
If they wanted to win the indigenous fans back then there would have been a concerted effort such as getting rid of Kean and enticing us back.
After the Wigan away match, the Blackburn fans were not something they wanted to inherit and they have succeeded in alienating us and pushing us out.
Just staying away isn't enough, we should sing and chant outside Ewood at each home game otherwise the community support of our club will go the way of Blackburns nightlife.

It certainly seperates the real fans who care only for the club and those with hidden agendas or prejudices.

I for one, am glad that there's finally some clear communication from the club.
Even if it's bullsh*t?
Clear communication. What planet have you been communicating with man? Weve waited 18 months and some nobody makes a few meaningless and so far empty statements which in the context of Blackburn Rovers desperate situation are like a spit in the ocean and you accept it as clear communication!!! Im dumbstruck as to how easily some of you are cajoled along. If it was Mark Lawrensen saying it, more of you would question his intentions so why are you even willing to believe this no mark Malaysian guy? Clear communication would involve telling us they know what they did wrong and why they did it, they know what they need in terms of management and sacking Kean, why they excluded the players last year, where they have lost the fans trust and what they are going to do about it ... I could go on.

That seals it for me.

They could offer STs at £50 and I would not be interested. I have a round trip of 4 hours for every match anyway so away games it is. It not simply the lack of competence and clown like running of the club but the arrogance to ignore their customers, the heart beat of the club. They are conceited arrogant slime who live and operate in a medieval feudal country and think they can adopt the same practices here.

I simply do not understand any real fan paying for a season ticket whilst the odious lying slimebag is still manager. What does he have to do to you? Personally great you with two fingers and then p+ss in your pint? Sorry guys but you are just blind dumb a++holes who cannot see any further than the next match.

Yes and I don't get your point?
I was there because I had already bought my season ticket as I have done for nearly 30 years. Most of which has meant travelling long distances since going to university at 18. I can tell you now pal that there are very very few people who have put in anywhere near the time and cost that I have supporting the Rovers. I even maintained my season ticket whilst I lived in Sweden for 3 years. It breaks my heart not to renew, I feel completely bereft but we have no choice. Renewing is accepting Kean as manager and I simply cannot stand the thought of paying for that.

PS. Fcuk you, Fcuk Kean, Fcuk Venky's and Fcuk Bradley Whorr.

Talk is cheap.

We have every right to be sceptical given what has been said before.

So, Mr Singh, you say your view on Kean is reliant on which job you hold. That doesn't mean your latest one is right and your first one wrong.

Who were you actually lying to; your readers or the Blackburn supporters?

Time will tell.

/Kentaro out!! Judging from some of the comments on here, it is clear that the Venky propaganda machine is out again to get the fans on their side. As far as I'm concerned, anyone going to a home game this season is breaching a picket line and destroying our club. Everyone must cease investing in this regime. That is the ONLY way to get rid of Kean and his flunkies.
That attitude will cause division between fans, when we should all be in this together.

Some people will go to the match because they feel it's the right feel to do. We should never hold it against those who want to do that.

Rest assured that those who attend dislike Kean just as much as the rest of us though.

We know who the enemy is and it isn't each other. Fans together.

The Wankys have just appointed a different face to use in order to lie to the fans. First lie, Kean got Fulham promoted and knows what it takes to get us promoted. Lets see how many other lies this new puppet tells us, and he is undoubtedly a puppet, and the Wankys sack anyone that disagrees with them. Also Shabby has already came out and said Kean should be sacked.

Don't know if they have been posted on here before nevertheless. Below are 3 quotes from the new maestro himself. Take it away Shebby..............

1. 'I think that Steven Gerrard is a poor passer so he should play at right back..I think thats the best position for him.'

2. 'Yes, Messi scores all these goals, but what else does he do?'

3. Why does Giggs play CM now? Why does he do that? Play him CB with Ferdinand - the experience from those two would be so hard to beat.'

He obviously has the sort of calibre Rovers are looking for. The Kean and Shebby team are world beaters.

My comment yesterday shouldhave been backed up with the following statement, when I said I hoped rovers would lose every game till nothing else could be done till kean was sacked, then with a decent manager push for a playoff place and get promoted that way would be the best case scenarion, now the question is how many games would kean have to lose before these thicko's realise that a change of manager is the way to go. Remember the first step to recovery is a change in the manager, no matter who else is behind the scenes!

latest reports in the mirror indicate mass exodus by players and reliance on academy players. I can help thinking this was the plan all along. strip the assets, get your money back with interest and then sell the club cheap. If the club goes down a division or two in the meantime, do the Venkys care? I doubt it.

45 years a season ticket holder. Not any more. No visits to ewood until the venky's go

Lets hope there is a grain of truth in all this but until actions start speaking louder than words i'll remain extremely sceptical.
that's my feeling on the matter. history suggests we must be cautious about pretty much anything that is suggested about how things will be done in the future.
the last year and a half have been poor, when i was hoping for so much more. however, i am not one for absolutes. i personally feel kean has been poor, but i am not a manager or chief exec, so recognise that i am less experienced than those i would be critical of. and it is fair to say there have been some bizarre circumstances to deal with, so it may be unfair of us to judge his management without that broader context.
venky's too have been really poor - inexcusably so in the case of communication. so i feel we are at a point where we have two directions of travel from which we can hope to rebuild
a) make wholesale changes to the ownership and management structure. this is largely out of the fans' control as venky's do not seem inclined to sell or dispose of kean.
b) accept that the ownership and management will remain and allow some leaway over the implementation of these new plans and investments.
realistically we all continue to support rovers, even though the venky's reign has led to extremely emotive responses from many. i for one will not give up on the club this season and wil get to whatever games i can when i get to travel back up north. i respect others for approaching it in an compltely different way, but for me new season suggests the opportunity for a new start, regardless of who's in charge.
The long term future of BRFC is not in good hands and IMO we as supporters must keep the pressure on the current regime by simply withdrawing our support until such time our message is clearly understood
Let there be no more confusion Mr Venkatesh Rao our message "Kean Out! Venkys Out" will be heard and at some point will be acted upon.
Until that day arrives we should continue to hold the owner's feet to the fire till they cannot stand the pain, financial, emotional, or otherwise, any longer.
The new 2012/13 season will bring about a new start, a start which will be minus 10,000 loyal and lifelong supporters !!

One day we'll be back, but not until the day comes that you leave !! R.T.I.D. stick to football says...

Sold down the river again by Venkys - if that is there big news appointing a global advisor to look after a Championship side who few were interested in in the premiership it is time to throw in the towel.

What experience does the guy have of this league - what is the point in having a clean slate for the Manager every season and doing nothing

to me its chicken by name and chicken by nature as far as Venkys are concerned I am sure they will be at Ewood every home game to watch their team !!

Getting the signings in early is the only way we are going to keep some of the better players we already have, but they have to be the right players. The likes of Robinson, Olsson(s), Hanley, Lowe, Peders, Rochina could stay if they thought we had a chance of going up and were not just going to float around mid table.
Dream on !!!!
