Blackburn Rovers boss Kean admits he's close to concluding January dealings

STEVE Kean has confirmed that he thinks Blackburn Rovers' transfer dealings will be done once Bradley Orr completes his move later today.

Anthony Modeste and Marcus Olsson have already joined the ranks at Ewood Park in the January transfer window, while Rovers manager Kean confirmed during this afternoon's press conference that Orr is close to joining.

Keith Andrews could still exit by the close of play today, with three or four clubs still believed to be in the hunt for the Republic of Ireland midfielder.

But Kean is adamant that Chris Samba and Junior Hoilett will not be leaving Rovers in January.

Well nice to see both Kean and the Venkys are consistently honest and open with the fans.
-
We will sign premiership quality players who can hit the ground running early in the window. Instead we sign championship/League One level cast-offs on the final day of the window.
-
We are looking to invest money into the club on big name players such as Kaka and Ronaldindho, instead we get Bruno Ribiero and the agents useless son Myles Anderson.
-
We are looking for Champions league football in 3 season. Instead we are facing Championship football in 2 seasons.
-
You could not make it up!
-

Please Venkys Sell now. Please Sell the club.

Underwhelming - this is concrete evidence of Venkys commitment to Blackburn Rovers.

One can understand Chris Samba's feelings if this is seriously what Venkys commitment extends to.

The only other good news I would like to hear today is that Venkys will sell up a.s.a.p

1) BRFC owners make £2m goodwill payment to Barclays bank.
2) Chairlady A Desai says that "Never under Venky ownership will a situation be allowed to happen that staff and player salaries are not paid"
.
Well its news in the positive direction at least even if it does have potential loopholes!
.
If we don't sell Key players in the next few hours then it will be better than we feared. But its gonna be like watching Rovers in the last 20 mins with a one goal lead!

Suppose the reality is no-one who is any good would come here at the moment, unless we offered huge cash.
A 'manager' would have done much better without the now usual spouting, which always fail to materialise - or does he not even recognise that !
We know why he doesn't push back on anything of course.
New deal, and no hope of any other gainful employment.

When the word dignity is used by the media and others I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Onwards and downwards... again.

Bradley Orr has taken part in a grand total of 8 games (6 Premier League & 2 cup against low legal opposition) this season for QPR playing a grand total of 368 minutes and being on the losing team 5 times.

In the 8 games he has taken part in QPR conceded 16 goals.

Meanwhile former trialist Scott Sutter has played a total of 16 games for Young Boys this season. Completing 994 minutes in 16 games in which his team conceded 15 goals with him at Right Back.

Wrap your head around the logic behind rejecting Sutter and signing Orr with those stats and information!

Thank god lots of other like me can see through Kean (and the Venkys)
not long back, after a dreadful match at Wigan Kean said he had not signed a fresh contract and would not do so until after the relegation battle - behind the scene he did the reverse and looked after himself!!!!
Then promised fresh signings in January saying that the Venkys had given him funds - was he not shrewed enough to have this written into his new contract - no just loked after himself and to hell with what he may have promised the fans!!!!!
So we have got our 'buy one get one free's' with no Premiership experience what so ever - Championsgip sides have done better and as one person said above its a good job Kean kept these signings close to his chest until the death or we would have been a laughing stock for a bit longer!!!!
Yes Kean is a very shrewed man in looking after himself and to hell with the fans - what other fairy tales has Kean yet got in store for us!!! I wait with baited breath.
Out with Kean Out with the Venkys

An absolute shocker but to be honest I think its what we all expected. If by chance we manage to stay up this year the fans should take a united stance and delay season ticket renewal until the end of August. At this point we will have proof of the owner's commitment or lack of it. It is clear that we cannot rely upon statements from the manager in terms of transfer window approach. This way we can all take an informed view based on facts as to whether we want to renew.

Maybe he went for Orr because he has played in the Prem - if only for a short while - but probably more importantly he has played a lot of games as RB in the championship and he knows the 'English' game!

That may have more to do with Rovers signing him in preference to Suter.

The Bristol City fans rated Orr quite highly so he cant be that bad...and he was the RB for the PFA Championship team of the year in 2008.

And don't forget he was RB last season when QPR won the Championship!

QPR website describes him below:
A pacy right-back who loves to get forward and join the attack at every possible opportunity, Orr's excellent delivery alongside his defensive qualities makes him a coveted individual.

About time we had an experienced and decent RB!

Hello Bradley and Bye Bye Bruno!

Steady on! - they paid £23m for club and have invested £12m capital since (including £2m today - see above).
.
They lost £18m in the frist 12 months simply through very bad management of player signings, wages and agents fees. No great conspiracy or asset stripping plan - just plain bad management?

The parachute is only £48m over 4 years so you can't get your hands on it if you sell.

True they have not invested as much as we would like or bought the type of player they promised not just us but Samba etc as well and this is partly because they have run the club badly and that has used up most of the money? How much you attribute blame to Kean and Agents for the deals done is another matter. But all in all it has been a poor ownership but they have invested £35m to date.

One thing so far - not a lot of cash into the club and unless increased late activity not a lot of players leaving

If the media still wonder why the supporters are angry - ask them to check out press comments and how often truth and reality are at either end of the spectrum.

Great idea not to sign another midfielder and let Andrews go - that sums up exactly Rovers financial situation - cut costs at any cost

I agree...it is a simple case of whats come before them is a club of little value working magic staying afloat in the PL - with all due respect, we have the lowest value season tickets in the league, yet cannot get more than 20k Rovers fans in the ground, rergardless of the kind of football or results we are acheiving - the owners promises quickly turned into panic when seeing just exactly how much the books don't balance. DAVID MOYES SHOULD THANK HIS LUCKY STARS
Everton manager David Moyes blasted Blackburn Rovers fans following the home defeat against Bolton Wonderers saying “their behaviour towards Steve Kean was disgusting and no human being should be treated like that” he even said he was so disgusted was he left the ground at half time.
It’s ok for Moyes to issue such random statements but he does not fully understand the frustration and hurt felt by Rovers supporters as to what is happening to their once great family run club. Unfortunately for Kean he is at the forefront, but it was his choice to take the manager’s job not ours. Were the Rao family, Ventkatesh Rao, Balaji Rao, and Mrs (I like to be entertained) Anuradha Desai present at Ewood Park then the fans fury would be directed at them. Kean just happens to be in the firing line unfortunately for him.
It is allegedly reported that the Venky’s group considered the purchase of Everton FC but were put off with Chairman Bill Kenwright’s asking price.
What a lucky escape then Merseyside club had.

DUNN SPEAKS OUT
Fans favourite, David Dunn, has urged Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s to end their silence and reveal their plans, reports the Sun newspaper.
Ewood Park fans have come under fire for their protests against the Indian poultry firm and Rovers manager Steve ( the man who cannot win football matches) Kean.
But fans are frustrated by the lack of communication from the Rao family. And Rovers favourite Dunn, said “the fans have been criticised from all ends of the country. “But in the last few games they’ve been fantastic, right behind us.
“I understand totally there needs to be some decisions made. It’s the owner’s decisions but there needs to be communication- that’s what the fans want. Great Harwood born Dunn and lifelong Rovers fan goes on to say “the fans have always been great for me but if they can protests outside the ground, we play with more confidence.”so let’s clear all the rubbish out and try to build up this great club again. “if everyone sticks together we can go on from here”. Concluded Dunn.
This is a far cry from Dunns statement in October 2011 when Rovers visited the Venky’s HQ in Pune in India. Dunn said then “despite fans reservations these are the people to take the club forward”.
Seems he is having second thoughts like most of us.

Absolutely disgraceful dealings in the transfer market after all the promises once again. Venkys and Kean are nothing but complete liars. This regime dosn't hope to stay in the premiership, conning the fans time after time. Even though i don't get to Ewood now because of where i live, i have followed Rovers since a lad from 1964. SAMBA EXPOSES THE MYTH
Despite all the spin from Steve Kean with regard how dedicated the Rao family are to Blackburn Rovers and statements to that effect from the Venky group, Chris Samba blew those statements ‘out of the water’ when he put in his transfer request and issued a statement saying “the club has not evolved and promises not been kept”.
This is exactly what supporters have been saying all along in fact rather than evolved the club has gone backwards alarmingly.
I don’t know if Venky’s and Kean were more annoyed with what Samba had to say, exposing the myth of a progressive club, or the fact he has asked for a transfer.
The Venky’s reaction was vicious, allegedly threating to pursue a loan made to Samba, a reported sizeable 6 figure lump sum to help him build a extension on his house. What a person earning a reported £60,000 per week wants with a loan goodness knows!
Venk’ys will have to tread carefully, if the so called loan was not written into Samba’s contract, Rovers will face a possible 6 point deduction for illegal payments.
Explanations are needed from this basket case of a club.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ROBERT COAR?
Is Robert Coar, former Blackburn Rovers chairman and former Rishton Cricket club chairman using his position as a Blackburn Rovers director to keep his prestigious standing as a FA councillor and a member FA professional game board, enquires Charles Sale of the Daily Mail.
Coar is the sole survivor of the Venky’s take over following the demise of his colleagues John Williams, Tom Finn and Martin Goodman.
Coar has kept remarkablely silent, despite the clamour from fans for more communication from the board about the Indian-owned club are being run, especially as he is the only senior representative remaining from previous Blackburn Regimes.
Could it be Coar is acting in his own interest to preserve his position as one of Footballs power brokers? Should he annoy the Rao family in any way and lose his position as Blackburn Rovers director he will forfeit his FA standing.
One would of thought that Coar a lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter and a prominent figure in East Lancashire sporting circles would have been ideal to represent supporters feelings to the Venky’s board.
But it would seem not to be.

Reg www.regoftherovers.c o.uk

DUNN SPEAKS OUT Fans favourite, David Dunn, has urged Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s to end their silence and reveal their plans, reports the Sun newspaper. Reg www.regoftherovers.c o.uk
The true reason why Dunn now decides to speak out is because he,s sitting on a new fat contract extension.
Before he got this he was biggest brown noser of the Venkys at the club.
think about it - it isn,t rocket science, its called looking after No1 !! we,re all being taken for a ride ,except its not the big fat gravy train that they,re on !!!

What is it about Venky's and Kean, they constantly make grand statements of intent and then do not deliver? Why do they expect us to admire them when there is nothing to admire. They are either deluded into believing their own utterences or they think we are thick.
There is no chance of any respect from the fans for these constant let downs at every opportunity.

How can we ever be anything other than critical of them for the constant stream of rubbish.
Three very cheap signings that for various reasons are rejects at their previous clubs. You could not make it up!
Why say that they would be buying experienced Prem. players?

It would be nice if somebody would just come out and say - 'Sorry we would have liked to buy some experienced players but we cannot afford any. We are too hard up and we have no money so will not make any more silly promises.'

But as usual Kean will just think he has done no wrong and carry on as if what has happened was his idea from the start of the window. Then all his friends in the media will be on our backs for suggesting he may be out to dinner most of the time.

What a mess!

Underwhelming - this is concrete evidence of Venkys commitment to Blackburn Rovers.

One can understand Chris Samba's feelings if this is seriously what Venkys commitment extends to.

The only other good news I would like to hear today is that Venkys will sell up a.s.a.p
Be careful in quoting 'understanding' of Chris's opinion as: despite a lot of fans claims to the 'right' to slag off SK and Venkys, apparently it is well out of order for Chris to do.
I think some have a firing squad in mind.
I would call it hypocritical.

Commented on this many weeks back to a pal of mine.
What role does he play?
Your suggestion sounds about right.

My thinking is that JW put RC's nose out of joint when he arrived. And subsequent accolades landing at JW's desk maybe made it more galling for RC.
So when BFS then JW departed the good ship BRFC, RC was maybe a lot happier and thinking back to something akin to his earlier 'standing'. He is maybe though also wise enough to behave puppet like for our esteamed owners (just so as not to rock the boat).

You would need 4 Chris Sambas to swap for Kranjar.

We should have grabbed him a season ago

lol, i made the comments tongue in cheek. But the deal would have been good for both clubs. All three players are squad players at spurs and as spurs are chasing a champion’s league place and maybe even an outside chance of the title, they really need people who can make a difference to their first team and samba would do that. And getting three players off their wage bill would free up some more cash to sign another big player this window. It was never going to happen I know, but I do wish we could have put a bit more thought into wheeling and dealing this window.

So Steve, what happened to the four "impact players that can hit the ground running"? Or was that just another one of your LIES?

Venky's and Steve Kean: You are beneath contempt. I DESPISE you!

......and they're more than 5 miles away in any case so why on earth did our grandfathers bother themselves with Johnny Foreigner until he got to, say, Accy?

They didn't fight the Americans by the way. Sorry, there was the War of Independence I suppose. I don't think my grandad had a say in that one but come on Mak96, lets not hold a grudge eh?

Many agreed anyway with his comments about management of the club. But its time to put it all to one side for the next 3 months?
.
We can take a deep breath at ST renewal time and decide what events are at that point?
.
33rd..........
I've gotta ask, after months wondering, wtf is 33rd...
Come on, since we lost to that lot down the road!
