Rovers confirm Olsson signing

SIGNING Marcus Olsson SIGNING Marcus Olsson

BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed the signing of Swedish international Marcus Olsson.

The 23-year-old free agent, the twin brother of Rovers left back Martin, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal and can play on the left of midfield or further forward.

Olsson had previously been on trial at Rovers back in 2006 but returned to Sweden where he has most recently been playing for Halmstads.

Bloody marvellous - one of the experienced Premiership Players that Kean promised us 'would hit the ground running' - I dont think so!!!
Plenty more 'buy one get one free' on their way to Ewood!!
Well done Mr Kean for yet again breaking the promises that you made to the Rovers fans - you are the worst Manager Rovers have ever had and deserve no respect from any of us!!
Out with Kean and out with the Venkys!

If he's as good as his brother, this is a great signing. Two caps for Sweden suggest that he's not a bad player, and having those two attacking down the left wing is going to confuse the hell out of defenders.

remember he said he hoped/wanted to get in 4 players who would hit the ground running, like all of us hoped for! so give him a break, the problem is venkys not using any of there $$$...

a tad harsh. firstly, we don't know whether this is a particularly bad signing. he has international caps for a decent nation.
as for the 'experienced prem players' - i very much doubt kean is chosing lack of experience over a wealth of other options. he said he would be looking to bring in players who could hit the ground running if at all possible and to try and get the deals done early. i am absolutley sure that is what he would ahve wanted to do too. however, just because that doesn't happen, doesn't make him dishonest.
perspective please.

You're getting boring now Mr Dave.

He's a swedish international that hasn't cost us anything. If it doesn't work out so be it, but if it does....

Weren't you also slagging off the signing of Yakubu at the end of the last transfer window?????

At least have a look at a player before deciding he is not good enough.

I'm Rovers til I die, regardless of what division we play in . Are you?

Prior to the Wigan game Kean said he wasn't going to even consider signing a revised contract whilst we were in relegation trouble, turns out he was the one pushing for huge pay-raise. Was it the Venky's who told Kean his drink had been spiked? Please don't try and excuse liars.

I guess you two must have never told a lie or 2 to help gain a better position for yourself. Also why is Kean a liar stating he doesn't care for Blackburn people, local MPs etc. I would say he is probably telling the truth. If I was manager of let's say Arsenal I would not be bothered what the locals think. Why don't you both give it a rest and stop moaning all the time. Morse is equally as bad. They have every right to complain and have there point regardless how many times they moan, and if Kean and venkys didnt lie so much to the fans they would not have to come on here and moan all the time would they. When kean and venkys stop there lies im sure the moaning will stop, until then get used to it.

No Venky's are not part of this team. The team are the people in the dressing room on a match day. Kick one and they all limp.

I'm all for protests against Venky's (for all the good they have achieved to date) and I would imagine that if a new owner did come in, Kean would not be in charge for long. However, Steve Kean IS the manager of Blackburn Rovers FC and WILL CONTINUE to be for the foreseeable future.

Keep the protests away from the ground on match days and support the WHOLE team including Kean, after all the marches, sit-ins, abuse and aeroplanes have not been able to dislodge him so we have very little choice if we want to retain premier league status. Be the 12th man and like I said before, IF we do this then our critics will soon run out of ammunition.

I can't lay claim to have supported the club as long as you, I wasn't born in the 60's, but seeing as you were able to support us in the old 2nd and 3rd divisions I'm sure you can find the strength to give us a burst of "Stevie Kean's blue and white army"!!! tomorrow night.

I wasn't suggesting that Alfa had said that. I was merely putting forward the argument that Kean is not likely to start slating the employer that pays him £1.2M. Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to find the respect you are suggesting I am lacking. Maybe learning to read would be a start!

I think we've now all lowered our expectations massively with Venkys, regards to new signings.

That said, providing no-one of significance leaves tonight (Hoilett, Samba, N'Zonz) then I'll be quite satisfied end of this window. We were never going to get a great signing in our position, but the ones we have seem solid at least.

This Olsson lad I don't know much about tbh, but as well as being an international, if he's as good as his brother he COULD be an excellent value signing for us.

Yes Alfa, what Kean should have done is go to the press and slate Venkys all day long. Just what you and I would have done if we had a £1.2M contract. You dont bite the hand that feeds you.
Where does Alfa suggest Kean should slate the Venky's? At least have the respect to read what people are writing.
I wasn't suggesting that Alfa had said that. I was merely putting forward the argument that Kean is not likely to start slating the employer that pays him £1.2M. Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to find the respect you are suggesting I am lacking. Maybe learning to read would be a start!
You implied that slating the Venky's 'all day long' was the alternative to lying to fans and the media. Of course he doesn't need to slate the Venky's he could simply state they have been very good to him; as his bank account no doubt proves.

One of the most destructive elements over the past year has been the numerous lies and misinformation given to the fans. We should not tolerate or make excuses for those who are doing so.

DAVID MOYES SHOULD THANK HIS LUCKY STARS
Everton manager David Moyes blasted Blackburn Rovers fans following the home defeat against Bolton Wonderers saying “their behaviour towards Steve Kean was disgusting and no human being should be treated like that” he even said he was so disgusted was he left the ground at half time.
It’s ok for Moyes to issue such random statements but he does not fully understand the frustration and hurt felt by Rovers supporters as to what is happening to their once great family run club. Unfortunately for Kean he is at the forefront, but it was his choice to take the manager’s job not ours. Were the Rao family, Ventkatesh Rao, Balaji Rao, and Mrs (I like to be entertained) Anuradha Desai present at Ewood Park then the fans fury would be directed at them. Kean just happens to be in the firing line unfortunately for him.
It is allegedly reported that the Venky’s group considered the purchase of Everton FC but were put off with Chairman Bill Kenwright’s asking price.
What a lucky escape then Merseyside club had.
DAVID MOYES SHOULD THANK HIS LUCKY STARS.

DUNN SPEAKS OUT
Fans favourite, David Dunn, has urged Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s to end their silence and reveal their plans, reports the Sun newspaper.
Ewood Park fans have come under fire for their protests against the Indian poultry firm and Rovers manager Steve ( the man who cannot win football matches) Kean.
But fans are frustrated by the lack of communication from the Rao family. And Rovers favourite Dunn, said “the fans have been criticised from all ends of the country. “But in the last few games they’ve been fantastic, right behind us.
“I understand totally there needs to be some decisions made. It’s the owner’s decisions but there needs to be communication- that’s what the fans want. Great Harwood born Dunn and lifelong Rovers fan goes on to say “the fans have always been great for me but if they can protests outside the ground, we play with more confidence.”so let’s clear all the rubbish out and try to build up this great club again. “if everyone sticks together we can go on from here”. Concluded Dunn.
This is a far cry from Dunns statement in October 2011 when Rovers visited the Venky’s HQ in Pune in India. Dunn said then “despite fans reservations these are the people to take the club forward”.
Seems he is having second thoughts like most of us.

SAMBA EXPOSES THE MYTH
Despite all the spin from Steve Kean with regard how dedicated the Rao family are to Blackburn Rovers and statements to that effect from the Venky group, Chris Samba blew those statements ‘out of the water’ when he put in his transfer request and issued a statement saying “the club has not evolved and promises not been kept”.
This is exactly what supporters have been saying all along in fact rather than evolved the club has gone backwards alarmingly.
I don’t know if Venky’s and Kean were more annoyed with what Samba had to say, exposing the myth of a progressive club, or the fact he has asked for a transfer.
The Venky’s reaction was vicious, allegedly threating to pursue a loan made to Samba, a reported sizeable 6 figure lump sum to help him build a extension on his house. What a person earning a reported £60,000 per week wants with a loan goodness knows!
Venk’ys will have to tread carefully, if the so called loan was not written into Samba’s contract, Rovers will face a possible 6 point deduction for illegal payments.
Explanations are needed from this basket case of a club.

TWEET’ N SOUR
Jason Roberts is reportedly frustrated at his lack of first team football and hampered by a clause in his contract which insists Blackburn must offer him and extra years stay if he plays two more matches for Rovers.
Roberts tweeted from Goodison Park on Saturday where Rovers were playing Everton that “he himself, Michel Salgado, and Keith Andrews were all available for selection but all hampered by the same clause with Venky’s not willing to offer new contract’s
The situation is farcical, we are in a relegation battle for goodness sake, some needs to get real.
Despite Kean’s over optimistic views of ‘sweetness and light’ in the dressing room there is allegedly a que of players looking for an Ewood exit.
Samba, Roberts, Salgado, Hoilett, Andrews, Dann, and Nzonzi amongst them.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ROBERT COAR?
Is Robert Coar, former Blackburn Rovers chairman and former Rishton Cricket club chairman using his position as a Blackburn Rovers director to keep his prestigious standing as a FA councillor and a member FA professional game board, enquires Charles Sale of the Daily Mail.
Coar is the sole survivor of the Venky’s take over following the demise of his colleagues John Williams, Tom Finn and Martin Goodman.
Coar has kept remarkablely silent, despite the clamour from fans for more communication from the board about the Indian-owned club are being run, especially as he is the only senior representative remaining from previous Blackburn Regimes.
Could it be Coar is acting in his own interest to preserve his position as one of Footballs power brokers? Should he annoy the Rao family in any way and lose his position as Blackburn Rovers director he will forfeit his FA standing.
One would of thought that Coar a lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter and a prominent figure in East Lancashire sporting circles would have been ideal to represent supporters feelings to the Venky’s board.
But it would seem not to be.

I've been saying this for a few weeks now. I'm also of the thinking that the 'lies' told by Kean are purely down to Venky's not following through with the promises they have made to Kean.

BRAVE THE WEATHER AND GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM ON WEDNESDAY
Prior to the Wigan game Kean said he wasn't going to even consider signing a revised contract whilst we were in relegation trouble, turns out he was the one pushing for huge pay-raise. Was it the Venky's who told Kean his drink had been spiked? Please don't try and excuse liars.

As Kean made clear in his infamous Daily Mail interview, he has no respect for the people of Blackburn, its newspaper, its elected MP, and its ex-MPs.
I cannot quite believe the amount of 'support' SK and to a degree Venkys are all of a sudden getting.
It seems to have come from the Chris Samba 'outburst' where all of a sudden he is being seen as arch enemy No. 1. It would appear to be a own goal by Chris.
I am hearing SK is actually alright as he is being misled by Mrs D/Venkys.
Hang on this guy has been working for them for 12 months, been visiting them regularly, on the phone to them regularly, aware of their misdemeaners back ome on t'subcontinent, had the savvy to claim a spiking in court. Yet he is being innocently misled and doesn't know it/see it!
Come on smell the coffee.

Note I have nothing against him, but he is not the man for the job at BRFC (in my humble opinion). And Venkys are bad news for BRFC (just my humble opinion of course).

Agree Chris but just heard that Formica will move tonight and we will go for Andy Johnson....if that does not happen then its still not as bad as we all feared. Samba will come around as he is no good to anyone if he is not playing - plus we keep a resurgent Hoillet and a much improved N'Zonzi. Plus we added the proper RB in Orr that we have been looking for ages for and a reasonably decent forward in Modeste plus yet another Olsson. (I heard there are around 50,000 Olssons in the Swedish phone book so plenty to go at still)! Just need to beat the Geordies and the second half of the season could get interesting again.....Allez les Bleus!

Merlin and Good Old Days I am sure Kean knows that Venkys are lying through there teeth. My point is that he is highly unlikely to go to the press and start skating Venkys. He is only going to say good things about the bosses that pay him £1.2M. I am sure all the people moaning on the site would do exactly the same. That is all I am saying. I am not particularly a Kean fan at all. I do think he is probably getting told one thing (like us fans) and then something else is happening.
