appleton, like eric black, quickly highlighted the lack of balance in the squad - with the exception on king neither black nor berg could do much about it.

appleton has a chance in the next four days to do summat about it. let's hope that despite all the backroom clowns that rovers gets its act together and dumps the deadwood and the can't be arsed - and fills the obvious holes in key positions in the team.

i wish you best of luck mr.appleton - its not glory boys we want - its grafters. i am sure you know what you want....let's hope that obstacles are not put in front of you.

Appleton has got them playing as a team now and the much improved performances of key players like Scott Dann are a direct result of having a guy in charge who knows how to organise the team and instill some much needed confidence into the squad.

Might be too late in the season and things are far from perfect yet, but there are still a lot of points to play for and with the team performing better and players playing to their full potential then the play-offs are a real target.

Unfortunately for the fans football does not reflect the real world.

Ridiculous salaries for players and managers alike are paid out before a ball is kicked never mind a point gained.

It's hard to accept in these difficult times but we always have the option of going elsewhere for our vicarious thrills.

If Appleton is the man to get the players motivated I, for one, am delighted and look forward to seeing steady progress over the next few months.

Yes, we all know that the Club has wasted two years but now is the time to stop moaning and get behind this manager who speaks in language which fans can relate to and who has obviously grabbed the players' attention.

If a week from now we have a squad of players who put in a full shift and get the fans behind them Appleton will have made a great start.

The 33-year-old Grella announced his retirement on Tuesday, two days after suffering a calf injury in his first match for his final club, the Melbourne Heart in Australia's A-League.
Grella said "after 17 years of professional football, my body has told me it's enough." Grella played for Australia at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups during a 46-match international career. He played for Parma, Empoli and Torino in Italy's Serie A and made 38 appearances for Blackburn until 2012.

My thoughts exactly when I read Danns comments. What he actually meant was Kean & Berg let the lazy ba5tards who couldn't be @rsed get away with it because they were weak &happy enough to take their wage with no command from higher up!
Beggers belief that these premaddonas on 30k a week think like that, but they're a bunch of spoilt brats who've had their backsides wiped for them since they were young teenagers. Maybe Appleton has a better work ethic & I believe we still have a few decent players in that squad who under the right guidance can do a job. Noticed an improvement in Lowe against Brighton & Olsson boys looked better. If MA can root out them who really don't give a t0ss & develop the others then maybe there's a glimmer of hope. The last 2 years have been heartbreaking, turning up week after week and apart from an odd flash of brilliance knowing players weren't giving it their all.
Apart from a miracle we can write this season off but maybe just maybe I'll have to admit I was wrong and MA is the right man? I'll do that gladly because along with 99% of Rovers fans I only want what's best for the club. I know we've no divine right for top flight football & what we've achieved in the last 20 years has been nothing short of a miracle, but we are still a prestigious club with a lot of history behind us. If we can earn back the "well respected" tag that owners & managers have lost for us then things could be turning a corner

Appleton's honest, common sense approach is so refreshing after more than 2 years of bulls*it from Kean and Singh. Admittedly we should have some appreciation for Shebby in engineeing the removal of Kean, who was to be sacked if he hadn't walked. That could not have been easy given Mrs Desai deemed him unsackable. Shebby though is a victim of his own ego and his current silence, combined with Appy's astute oebservations, is helping our club become credible again. I never thought after 47 years supporting my team through thick and thin that i would become embarrassed to be a Rovers fan, but i have felt that way for almost 2 years due to the Roa's self inflicted damage and the circus we had become. Early days but let's hope we have the right man now in Appleton and maybe Derek Shaw also deserves some credit for his efforts as he has been victim of many negative comments and conspiracy in this paper and all without much foundation or knowledge of the guy. Could this be a turning point? I bl**dy well hope so. I couldn't comprehend how poorly we played against Charlton but I don't count that as a Appy match as he couldn't change Bowyers winning team. The speed with which he has so quickly and accurately assessed the squad weaknesses is so impressive but given the expensive advice the Rao's rely upon, why have we ended up with such poor cover in so many positions. Why was Shebby allowed to sign 3 players, all smacks of dodgy dealings combined with the football naivety of the Rao's. Many people are trying to force Venky's to sell, i would say be careful what you wish for, there are no buyers waiting in the wings who could afford to support a return to the premiership and to keep us there if we made it. It is the Walker Trust and Jack's children who get off very lightly in the criticism stakes, they stopped supporting the club financially and rumoured to have expected an income from the club. That greed and self interest could not have been what Jack would have expected from his family. If the fans continue such embarrassingly public abuse towards the Rao's and get their wish then don't be too surprised if they asset strip our club as they exit and then the legacy of Jack will be lost for ever. Be careful what you wish for...

Which ever team you support "proper fans" live in hope and expectation that their team will be successful. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not.

Using your "logic" it would appear that Burnley were beaten by a poor Birmingham side, when you consider the way Birmingham are playing and their problems behind the scenes. What does that say about your team?

Blackburn v Burnley play off final would be a real blood and thunder game an amazing atmoshphere.

Can imagine travel arrangements would be a nightmare though, probably have to go in coaches from the ground 3 weeks before kick off, then have to spend two weeks in Guantanamo Bay being water boarded by over zealous stewards, before finally being released to enjoy the game in the comfort of a straight jacket while sipping a lightly gassed mineral water.

How can the Arsenal game give us an idea of whether we are ready to go back up? Do we have to play Arsenal away to know the answer to that? We have been relegated. The season so far has been a disaster. We are on our 5th manager. We are out of automatic promotion already and not in play off places. The FA cup tie is a one off game and the result and performance will be unrelated to our readiness for returning to the PL. Do you think Oldham are ready for the PL because they beat Liverpool? No. That game told their chairman that the players can raise their game for a grandstand game like that but not for the bread and butter games.

We need 6 points from the next two home games Bristol City and Ipswich and then lets see where we are.

I still think it would NOT be in our interests to go up this year and to be honest I would like a season where we played some good stuff and deserved promotion via a top two spot rather than fluke it via the playoffs. I know we did it that way in Jacks's days but as we all know we have very different owners now! We all knew and trusted Jack would do the right thing.

We all know the squad isn't that good .....weak in lots of positions and strong in a few.....the TV buffoons (presenters) and some journalists keep harping on about the squad being one best in the championship......ab
solute rubbish......now for the good news- appy seems to have realised it straight away(would have been blind not to have) and hopefully he's going to rectify the obvious imbalance in the squad......question is....will Venkeys back appy and is there enough time!

I'm not in the appy camp just yet, early days for me, don't tend to like managers with not too many scruples as his short managerial stay at Blackpool would suggest!......he's got 10 games to convince me, we'll know if he's a dud by then.

IThat table gives a false impression of the most successful clubs......for example PNE and Burnley have spent a lot of their recent history in the 3rd & 4th tier of English football and must have collected a few points!

A table of 1st tier and/or 2nd tier results would give a more accurate picture.

I just saw that we are about to lose Kazim Richards?

Bursaspor have put in an offer for Colin Kazim Richards.
The Green Crocodiles have offered Galatasaray €600,000 and Kazim Richards a contract worth €1.2 million per-season on a four year deal.
Kazim Richards agent Neil Fewings confirmed that an agreement is imminent. "We have agreed terms with Bursaspor," said Fewings.
"Colin will sign for the club on Wednesday."

Anton Ferdinand and Kazim Richards are expected to be unveiled in a joint signing ceremony on Wednesday.

Kazim Richards is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, the Turkish international has scored three goals and has three assists for the Championship side this season.

Good money for him for sure and no way would he or his club turn that down. Just hope Leon Best is fit quickly or we get Marlon King the Burnley slayer in.

If Kazim does leave, it's a blow unless there is someone lined up. Personally Marlon King would do a good job and it's especially more likely to happen as he is available on a free. Also would be useful in the event that Best get's re-injured on his return.

The last name we were apparently looking to sign was Rekik at Man City, and that rumour hasn't faded. He's a left back, so that would suggest Martin Olsson will be pushed into the midfield.

Would we all have to travel by coach from our respective clubs with a wristband on and be dropped at the stadium then picked up there after and nobody allowed to venture into the capital? How many coaches would that take. What a headache that would give the London met. Good job it isn't going to happen.

A fair post IMO. Things seem to be moving in the right direction, the jack walker era was great, there will never be any love for venky's, but given the right direction they might turn this round and be respected, which I think is all they want.

I see BRAG are calling for fans to come back for the Ipswich game to show the venkys that they are a big part of why the crowds are staying away, although I think everyone has the right to a say and protest I have one question,why now MA seems to be turning a corner , shebbys disappearing of the scene and there is for the first time in a few years a little bit of optimism, there is a slim chance of a play off place and if the last two years tell us anything , off the field politics effects the team' why not wait until any chance of promotion is gone, the point can still be made just a little later.

I 'learnt' many years ago that when you support your home town team then that means you support them through bad times as well as good times. And being a Rover for as long as I have then the bad outweighs the good by quite a bit (even with the prem years in there) but hey I still support my Rovers.

Despite his disappointing period at Ewood, Vince managed to play over 200 Serie A games. I saw most of his international games and he never let his country down.

Well said , although i have not been to ewood for 15 years due to living out of the country , i used to watch through the 60s and seventies and the fans then used to moan every match almost and at the end of the match i would always remember coming of the games always at ewood and usually raining , that's it i you will not see me here again , but come saturday at 3 0 clock there they where with thier blue and white scarf and flask cheering us on through the bad times, as for the Manchester rover , i think you may have to many red and white glory hunting friends?

Small minded deluded dingle. 18 years out of 20 as a PL team, winning it, a league cup win, 2 FA cup semis, 7 seasons in Europe and he calls that a false position. 12 years of that 18 we weren't propped up by Jack Walker or his money, we stood alone with good leadership, good managers and good players. What did his beloved sh1te-hawks do in those 20 years? Promotion out the old 4th , 3rd and 2nd divisions, a disastrous single season in PL via a scabby playoff win. Numerous managers who p1ssed off when they smelt a few bob. No wins against their superior neighbours, no cup runs to speak of, no European games & constantly selling off half decent players to line the owners pockets. No wonder their jealousy runs deeper than the gulf in class between us!

Learn what manc? How to slag my team off in three easy lessons? Sorry can't do it. My team is the Rovers and they are for life. I 'learnt' many years ago that when you support your home town team then that means you support them through bad times as well as good times. And being a Rover for as long as I have then the bad outweighs the good by quite a bit (even with the prem years in there) but hey I still support my Rovers. There has never been anything to learn from any scanky manc anyhow.

Well said , although i have not been to ewood for 15 years due to living out of the country , i used to watch through the 60s and seventies and the fans then used to moan every match almost and at the end of the match i would always remember coming of the games always at ewood and usually raining , that's it i you will not see me here again , but come saturday at 3 0 clock there they where with thier blue and white scarf and flask cheering us on through the bad times, as for the Manchester rover , i think you may have to many red and white glory hunting friends?

I have continually defended Rovers against Prejudiced City/United Fans in the Walker era and later... I criticised the Walker Trust years ago of the total disregard to' Jack Walkers Rovers' in this comment medium.......
Now the Venky's are here and no more can I feel part of the club as they have (as you know) screwed the club and continue to do it..I won't be a part of it ..Yes, I go to Gary Filtcroft's Chorley instead... I am heartened by your passive acceptance of our 'absolute' dominance over you.

I am also pi$$ing myself laughing that in 34 years you have only managed fleeting occasions over us. Once in the early weeks of the ONLY season you spent in the Premier League and now, just as we're getting to the business end of a Championship season that will once more see bonleh fade like a cheap blouse and Rovers charge onwards and upwards toward more of that success that we've tasted in EACH of the last three centuries.
