Rovers hoping to decide manager by end of Forest clash
10:37am Tuesday 1st January 2013 in News
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
VENKY’S will hold further talks with members of the Ewood Park hierarchy in the hope of deciding on their managerial target before the end of today’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest.
Global advisor Shebby Singh told the Lancashire Telegraph he was hopeful an appointment could be made today, after submitting his favoured options, but it is believed he is yet to be given the green light.
Singh (pictured below) yesterday declined to comment on the managerial process but sources from India have told the Lancashire Telegraph he is expected to hold further talks with his bosses later today.
He is understood to be confident of securing the services of his suggested manager quickly, should the owners back his vision, and would then be hopeful of making the appointment imminently.
Operations director Paul Agnew and managing director Derek Shaw returned from crisis talks with the owners in India late on Sunday night.
The duo were last night waiting to hear from the owners, to finalise the details of their discussions, but Agnew said: “We held very productive talks with the owners.”
It is understood Shaw and Agnew have raised concerns about the current running of the club within Ewood and are hopeful order can be restored in the next few days.
Reserve team boss Gary Bowyer will continue in temporary charge for this afternoon’s visit of Nottingham Forest, having helped end Rovers’ four-match losing streak with a win at Barnsley on Saturday.
He will have striker David Goodwillie back available for selection while it is understood Morten Gamst Pedersen will also be back in the squad after being surprisingly axed at the weekend.
Venky’s are understood to have received conflicting advise from Singh on one hand and from Agnew and Shaw on the other, with all of them hoping to get confirmation of the way forward today.
The likes of Billy Davies and Karl Robinson are being strongly linked by various bookmakers, while former Rovers boss is believed to have yet received any contact from the club.
Rovers’ players and coaches remained in the dark last night as everyone at the club awaits news from India on their next move.

We know it won't be Hughes and most of the others mentioned are best described as second raters, in some cases that is a very polite description.
Davies actually has a decent track record in this division with several clubs, might just be the person to give us some stability.

You're right, you can't run a club when a difference of opinion descends into all out warfare between members of the management. Venkys need to act soon or the club will implode even further. Will they? Probably not.
How do these people run a business for chr!st's sake? I can only assume they inherited it from daddy Rao and kept it ticking along with the people already there; how ironic would that be?
Singh hopes to have a manager in place early in the New Year. Ominously the Chinese New Year is 10 Feb.,just after the transfer window closes. I hope this is not the "New Year" he was referring to.
I believe it is the Year of the Snake; say no more.

Curbishley hasn't managed a club for at least four years.
"Harry" used Rovers to get QPR to sack Hughes so he could take over another southern club, he was never, ever in the frame.
Phil Brown? lost the respect of his players with his bollocking of them on the pitch at half time if I remember, his win percentage at three of the four clubs he has managed is actually worse than Steve Kean's at Rovers.

In my opinion the divide between these three spilled over on to the pitch. Certain fomer players who were commenting on team performances have stated that some players were not putting in the full effort required and I have to say I do agree with this.
It would not bother me if Singh, Agnew and Shaw all went, as they are all responsilbe in some ways for this mess. Start again from scratch, but this time get propert fottballing people in to run the club and an experienced manager. Unless this happens I doubt we will turn any corners.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they did give it Bowyer though. They've gone from total inertia in not sacking Kean to knee jerk reaction with Berg.
Which one's your money on this time? Mind you, Singh's appeared on the scene since Kean was buddying up to Desai to keep his job so it'll be ill-informed and irrational whichever one it is.

Here's hoping the New Year sees the departure of Shaw, Agnew AND Singh.

Have I missed anyone out of my new Folk song?
Its called "Living in the past" and although I will get a torrent of abuse i ask all of you to move on and know your new level.
If we fail to get up then we may be here a while, so moving on I'm gonna enjoy backing my team for a change. Happy New Year. Hoping that Shaggy gets fired though. Groucho Marx needs to get potted.

Billy Davies, Robinson, Mckinlay.. Hughes looks favourite even though some say he's denied interest.
See you all at Ewood, expecting a good crowd and a great atmosphere to drive the team to another win.
Ignore when the announcement will be made and who it will be today Rovers fans and lets show those who berate us for voicing our concerns, our passion and loyalty and that Ewood is still strong in our hearts, and will be ours again one day.

Even should we be lucky enough to secure an experienced gaffer, the ructions between the various groups running the club will render him impotent (you know what I mean) when it comes to major decisions.
Until we get a return to the proper values and type of person that ran our club pre Venkys the circus will continue.
Personally I would stick with Gary Bowyer who knows the club well, until the end of the season and has experience of the meddlesome Venkys and their incompetent acolytes. Appointing a new manager in a hurry with no experience of our hopeless owners will only lead to more angst and infighting amongst the supporters.

Too congested to answer your query on a previous thread.
Here goes, (fwiw).
Credibility is the key. It's a lack of it that's got the club to its current state. I don't believe credibility will be re-established with the current hierarchy in place irrespective of who they appoint as manager.
That said, if you're lumbered with Venky's and SS, the best you can hope for is a that Venky's will defy previous form and dip their hands into their collective pocket and spend some serious money. They need to hire someone with charisma and credibility to give the side and its supporters hope. If they don't, it's going to be a long rocky road to the basement floor.
Mediocrities should be easy to hire, (though SS made a good job of defying even that axiom with the appointment of Kean and Berg). The man's an imbecile. I'm thinking along the lines of Holloway or Sparky, or any of a plethora of other journeymen managers who've had their moments in the sun but whose stars are self-evidently now on the wane.
Solskjaer would be the man I'd be rooting for as a BRFC supporter. He's give that much needed "hope" I mentioned earlier. There are probably others around, but few would 'get the juices flowing' like Ole Gunnar.
Happy New Year and good luck.

The new manager will have premier league experience, he is now available and he wasn't last time, his emphasis is on passing football, well it sounds like Mark Hughes or Owen Coyle or Phil Brown to me. No compo to pay and all out of work. Or what about Sven, lock up your daughters, Eriksonn. The guy with the fringe round the back. Hair raising stuff.
