I am a fan who long campaigned for Kean's dismissal and for him to be replaced by an experienced manager.
By experienced, I meant that someone who had been succesful in the Championship and knew what was needed to gain promotion e.g a Holloway, McCarthy, Warnock etc.

Instead Shebby and the Board seemed obsessed by appointing an ex-player as manager and tried to enlist Sherwood and McKinlay - who both had no managerial experience whatsover.

After the fans made their feelings known, they instead opted for Berg claiming that he had 7 years managerial experience.
That may be true, but he had never managed in England.
Did anyone on the Board examine his track record in Norway?
Basically as we all know he was the CHEAP OPTION.

Berg is quoted as saying that we did not defend well enough against Cardiff, when our performances in the past 3 home games has been very, very poor indeed and we have been outplayed by Millwall, Bolton & Cardiff.

Even the caretaker manager Eric Black made a better use of the squad at his disposal than Berg.
Cut our losses now and bring in Mark Hughes.

Fair and sensible assessment.

To be fair, Venky's were reportedly baffled by Bergs appointment, but Shebby apparently railroaded his choice through the board. We gave Henning enough chance to show what he can do, it's obvious he is not going to get used promoted - that's not to say he's a bad manager, just that he's not experienced enough for the task ahead and we all know trouble is ahead if we don't at least look like a side that could be promoted with our wage bill and running costs.

Venky's had a meeting today about the current situation. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome is.

I'm not saying Rhodes would score every chance he gets but I'd wager he'd score the majority of them. I think the time has come to give some of the fringe players a chance, even if it's only for one game, to not only see what they can do but also give some of the 'guaranteed' starters some food for thought. I'm not sure what's more depressing, being a Rovers fan watching the team capitulate against Cardiff or being a Burnley fan and spending your Friday night commenting on another team's forum? Still, it looks like Christmas will come early for them as they're all fixated on leapfrogging us which, to be fair, is inevitable.

I've tried to convince myself we can turn a corner under Berg and be positive but last night it was there for all to see the shambles that Rovers have become.

I've also tried to convince myself Venkys had learnt their lesson and were trying to put things right - how wrong was I? The heart and soul has been ripped out of the club by those w4nkers and until they sell, we can expect nothing other than misery. There was zero atmosphere last night, add that to the more than half empty ground (not just because of the Venkys disease that has riddled BRFC but TV, christmas etc) and we got what we deserved. Rovers fans just seem so edgy at Ewood. There's no trust and no hope whilst these germs own the club.

It's hardly any wonder those odd balls down the road are loving it. What Venkys have done to Rovers couldn't have been scripted any better than the most warped dingle.

Venkys did so much damage to Rovers so quickly that what we are witnessing now is the club still falling to find it's right level. Unfortunately, it's right level under these owners is in League One. No club that throws away it's assets (BFS, John Williams, numerous players) and replaces them with liabilities (Steve Kean, The Global Adviser, Colin Hendry, Henning Berg, David Goodwillie, Scott Dann, Dickson and Danny) cannot survive in the Championship. It's just too testing a league. So Rovers are still falling and will not find equilibrium until they have been relegated again. Tragic, but inevitable.

We're have you got your comments from I'm no hippocrite I'm a true supporter of rovers through thick and thin in early eighties when we were down in third and second division,but the fans needs to realise that the owners will be laughing all the way to the bank when they have robbed us blind, iv stopped going to rovers as I can't stand the fact that we were once a top flight club in a. Suitable postion and now were down in the championship, I'm a very close friend of mr Finn who's close to mr Williams, who they know the real truth about the owners so bog off with your comments and cone back when we're down in the first division and sat sorry

Oh here we go again, been attending since we were div three, got friends yadda yadda... Isnt it strange that just about everyone without a clue or a reasonsble argument outside of "we were a premiership club" either has friends in the know or waffles on about how they were there in div three, usually with facts that could have as easily be found on Wikipedia or footy facts site. You know what, it doesnt matter if you were there as the founding father of football, your team needs you now more than ever, but no, you'd rather we all spat our dummies out and boycotted in the hope that.. What? Venkys sell up and leave? The club goes into administration and the deluded BRSIT bums can come in with their 3m of pledges and send us straight back to div 3 so you can relive the good old days? We're in the championship. You could well be right and bigger or similar sized clubs have fallen into League 1 such as Leeds, Weds, Forest, Southampton, Sheff Utd etc.

I'd love to think Hughsey would come in and sort this mess out before things get even worse. Bergs reputation would be tarnished but there's no room for sentiment I'm afraid because the clubs in turmoil.

We all know what sort of respect Shebby has for players of age, he made the Pedersen comment and then took it back bringing it as a generalization, and now all of our oldest players with the most experience are being left out. Dunn, Gomes, Pedersen, Givet ect. The writings on the wall but not many seem to be able to see it, outside interference is clearly happening. I dont believe for a second that Berg a Norweigian himself who has worked in Norway for a few years now would leave out a fellow country man from his starting line up who clearly still has bags of ability. The only reason Murphy still gets to play is because we have no other CM's that are consistently healthy aside from Etuhu. Some of the blame also needs to fall with Robinson, he made 1 save the entire night when the ball was crossed straight to his chest. He pulled his hand away from the Belemy shot thinking it was going over and it hit the bar, he made no attempt to save any of the three goals with any real gusto and i can only think that its down to his age and reactions becoming pathetic.
You cannot polish a turd and this squad is what has been left from the previous regime, so for the love of all that is holy dont crap your pants and start with the Berg out rubbish yet, its a long season and hopefully Venkys can see that a fair bit of the blame should go on Singh, who should be axed and a proper management system put in place. Not only this but Bergs ins and outs will define the rest of our season so until February we need to hold fire on this negativity and hope that he replaces Dann, Hanley, Murpey, Etuhu and this outside interference stops.

I can tell you that Black works with the players, but Hendry doesn’t. He doesn’t even communicate with the rest of the coaching staff during training. He just stands there, contributing absolutely nothing and I cannot understand why he is still here. But I CAN understand why he has had absolutely no influence or effect on the defence.

There are many good and pertinent observations among the constructive comments here. ‘Nuttall Street’ says he can guarantee the Global Advisor will read this site. I doubt it. My view is that if we all write personal letters to Shebby, as I have done, it may bear more fruit.

Three poor home performances and eight goals conceded have shattered the confidence I had before the Millwall and Bolton games. I sincerely hope Henning Berg can turn things around, but I am beginning to have doubts.

We should have begun to see his influence by now, but in all honesty we look a bunch of misfits and not-good-enoughs, lacking quality and conviction. I know Berg has inherited this lot and I know that it would take some time to turn things round, but will he be able to?

I fully expected to see some backroom changes by now but has HB been told he will have to work with what he has got – or, even worse, does he not have his own trusted ‘team’? I don’t know what departures there have been since Sam went, but we seem woefully lacking on the training and coaching side.

The stamina has gone, the work rate has gone, the fitness has gone. No method, no fire, no punch. A pitiful midfield – and still seriously lacking in defensive ability, even though that problem has been staring us in the face for two years. We are at sixes and sevens, unbalanced, careless. Goals are raining in in the last ten minutes of matches.

I am surprised we are not lower down the table than we are, but two or three more results like this and we soon will be.

If Berg has been told he must work with what he has got then we are in real trouble. It will show Venky’s have learned nothing.

Yes the have been worse situations before, I remmber a tale when they could not afford to pay the milkman.Have they ever had worse owners, a definate no, I have stated this before but eveyone employed down at Ewood in the top jobs and most of the players seems to have there nose in the trough, taking every penny they can get and sod the concequenses.
Outcome people like you and I will eventually stop going down to Ewood after years of suppoting our cub, why because we become fed up and there actually is more to life these days than being a football supporter.
My take on whats going on,HB, cheap option that does not appear be working, intead of going for an exerienced manager with his own staff.
Why has HB not brought his own staff in, he has had time to see CH is usless, is he being stopped from doing so in another cost saving exercise.
Shebbys gone very quite,owners have stopped coming again, it does not add up.
God help the club its going downhill very quickly, the only happy people down at Ewood seem to be certain agents who wont be named!!

Hi RR Good post! I have only now been able to look at the site as been in shock at the gutless performance on Friday. It was shambolic with very few decent performances. It has got to the stage that I almost walk away when I hear the chosen 11. Sadly most of these are not good enough.
Most of us on here can remember dark days before since the 1960s and remain here but this lot do not appear to have pride or effort and we need a good clear out or at least some good fighters imported pretty dam quick. I for the life of me cannot understand why fighters on our books are not chosen such as Givet Simon and even Pederson. Dunn will also be welcome back when fit. Whilst we may critisise these players they will at least fight on our behalf. We must hope and pray that someone makes improvements soon and sorts this lot out.

Rhodes is a top player ,well worth the fee , but his assistant manager at Huddersfield ,was a well known guy to most of us at Rovers ,but also in the same Lytham (Taps) drinking gang as Hendry and Steve Kean , Ian (Dusty) Miller ,more cash for the boys.

I can prove I was at The Gay Meadow when we got whipped by Salop 1-7. I retain the programme stained with my tears which can be both carbon dated and DNA tested. Another giveaway is a nervous tic which manifests itself whenever my wife hands out "Fruit Shrewsbury" biscuits with a cup of tea.

Gomes - Quality player, but hardly used now. Could be a foil for Rhodes.

Many true and heartfelt words Road Runner. I, too, well remember when the club couldn't pay its bills. I was a supplier, owed thousands. But Bill Fox, the then chairman, used to ask me to meet him at Ewood at 9 o'clock on Monday mornings (or the day after the match) so that he could give me a bag of cash before the bank got their hands on it. A chairman and board with honour and integrity. A far cry from today's deaf and dumb owners in Pune who have wreaked so much, possibly irreparable, damage on a once-proud club and its community.

I've enjoyed reading your comments, along with others, today, though with sadness and I think you should all make sure you get your comments directly to Shebby at Ewood.

Berg, in a photo shoot on his appointment, turned around the B&W shirt and gave short shrift to the name on the reverse, quoting: it isn't the name that is of the real importance here, but(pointing his finger) at the crest - this is the heart of the matter, that is what the supporters want to see respected - the badge.

Venky, take note or it could very well be that plastic support will permeate !

Yes, one of Sams many skills was to play to your strength. Another is to get results. One of the best managers in Rovers history and probably the best value for money manager in the PL.
