FULL TIME: Peterborough United 1 Blackburn Rovers 4
7:16pm Saturday 17th November 2012 in News
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
A JORDAN Rhodes hat trick has fired Blackburn Rovers back into the Championship play off spots, helping them to a 4-1 win at Peterborough.
The Scottish international added to Mauro Formica's early opener as Rovers blew the hosts away with an impressive display.
Lee Tomlin struck an 88th minute consolation for a struggling Peterborough as Rovers climbed back to sixth in the table.
Rovers were given the perfect start when Mauro Formica fired home on just three minutes after Rhodes' shot had been blocked.
The hosts looked dangerous going forward but, with Ruben Rochina pulling the strings for Berg's men, Rovers looked capable of scoring every time they attacked.
It was 2-0 on 20 minutes as Rhodes headed Martin Olsson's cross home, via Peterborough defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival, and the striker scored his second sic minutes before the break.
Rochina picked the ball up on the halfway line and, after making progress, slipped a defensive splitting pass for Rhodes to clinically finish.
Peterborough improved after the break and Saido Berahino forced a smart save from Paul Robinson, before Grant McCann fired wide on 53 minutes.
Jordan Rhodes should have completed his hat trick after being put through by a clever pass from Formica.
But, having rounded goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik, Rhodes could only drag his shot wide from a tight angle.
The Scottish international was not to be denied though as he completed his treble on 79 minutes, heading home from close range after Scott Dann had headed Formica's corner across goal.
Lee Tomlin scored late on for the hosts before substitute Nuno Gomes hit the post for Rovers in injury time.

Well done to all the team who performed fantastic tonight ...
Jordan is playing fantastic .. two for Scotland and I can see him getting 20 for us this season after 40 for Hudds last year ..
I am particularly happy that Ruben is putting some great passes & much need creativity into our games ... Thats two killer passes to Jordan in two games now .. Pity Steve Kean couldnt see a real player when it was in front of his face ..

Henning Berg, one defeat in four.
Team playing like a team, and if Rochina had picked the right option on four more occasions it could have been a lot bigger margin and no goals conceded as well. But on the whole, a massive improvement.
And the dingles got dumped as well. Scott Dann played well except for one mistake and as a defensive unit we looked a lot more cohesive.
Well done Henning and the lads.

Amazing transformation from when Kean left - they couldn't string a couple of passes together. Acquired a strong defensive platform under Black and now Henning has got them playing some real quality stuff. It was fantastic to watch in the most part.
Posh are awful, granted, but if we use that as a template for the rest of the season we should have the quality to get automatic promotion.

Voicebox needs resting, as does all my other bits, feel like I played the 90 mins lol. We were good, we can be better, we will be better. Defensive mistakes, still too much dribbling close to our own box for my liking, would still prefer a bit more stability up top and yes, Rhodes unmarked was pitiful on their part and we won't get that with the better teams but we're looking more and more comfortable playing Bergs way and the players seem to be enjoying their football much more than under the previous bald chap.
Etuhu seems to be coming along too, thought he looked better today, Henley is impressing more and more.
And last but not least.
Yak left a whole in my scoring heart that Jordan Rhodes has filled. Such modesty, maturity and dignity (CK take note!) truly a gem of a find. He scores when he wants to, he scores when he wants. Oh yeah.
Night all. In Berg we trust. Got to say Shebby just maybe knew what he was talking about.. Hmm.. There's a thought lol.

Hennings is doing right in giving everyone the change to shine.
Two positive moves he has made is:
1) Getting rid of ORR from the field & club
2) Dropping of Kazim-Richards until he learns there are ten others player in a team.

I feel , the players did a good job, but don't forget the posh team is not so great to face and access our strength.
Murphy and Etuhu need more control in the game, I saw the impact is not there in both of them.
Rochina need more Shooting pratice, lots of time he dosen't get the timing with the ball. Ollson brother's are cool, they did a good work in the posh game.
I feel Formica need more running with pace to win and control the ball. he some time lost the pace, which is not acceptable. Robbo is showing great courage, he miss the clean sheet in the last 10 mts. Always the team had this problem at the ending time. lazy effort and lost the ball in front of our box.
Over all the team is showing great improvement, Thanks- ORR is gone for loan, see the difference. hahahahah.

If he's in there to break up play then fine, but we where playing bottom of the table, and against a more competitive outfit, he and his Fulham counterpart go missing to often ( boro wolves palace ) murphy can't last 60 mins , game in, game out, and Etuhu has got to contribute more, Fulham got shut of the pair for a reason, and in this division games come thick and fast, and these 2 can be squad players at best

Hats off to Henning.... he can do no more in a few weeks.
and OK to the points above but Ruben is a talent and he is a bit raw but what a future ... if we can go on from here... Rhodes, Formica Hanley, Henley the olssons, loewe et al..... not too mention how strong the bench was; hoped to see Vukevic again as I thought he was superb when he came on against Brum, so with our resources we should up there AND we have to be up there to hold onto these lads..... please god dont let the Venkys spy a big profit..
I appreciate they are bottom of the league and stronger teams wont give us the room to play like that but its confidence and a win which can only make them a better unit.
Bring on the dingles as the support that went to the Posh sang loud .... good on 'em.

Steve Keans ignorance and arrogance prevented him from ever understanding what 'his squad' were capable of.

As for the guy who is going on about Walkers v Venkys then It is impossible to compare these two owners as there is a million miles between the feelings that Jack had for the club as a local lad, and that which any other (non Blackburn owner not specifically the Vs) could possibly ever have for the club.
Also - if Venkys are such a force for India and the Indian people then why are more of our local Blackburn Asia/ Indian people not coming down to support the Rovers? They would be very welcome at Ewood, it would be great to have a full house of all Blackburn folk of all creeds and colours.

Sure Venky's have screwed up, but to thank Henning for putting the team back whilst blasting the people who employed him is as near-sighted as the Modan character going on about them being the best thing to happen to the club.
Got to keep it in perspective, we were a lost club with owners who wanted to offload us to anyone who had the cash, venkys were introduced by agents who saw a quick buck and we know the rest. Whichever way you see it, we're here, Venky's seem to be giving Shebby space and he's brought some much needed stability to the situation and the team. I don't expect anyone to start loving Venky's or hail Shebby as the new Messiah, but rose-tinted specs go both ways.

Absolutely brilliant to be able to celebrate an away win. And 4-1. Jordan Rhodes is worth every penny of the eight million and his goals will win us promotion. BTW all you statto's out there - when was the last time Rovers won 4-1 away from home in a league game in any division?

PS. Last 4-1away was in promotion season under Souness at Grimsby on a sodden Wednesday night with that awful temporary stand.Jansen got a couple if I remember right. We also beat Bolton 4-1 the same season on a Friday night at The Breezeblock. Added stat, we beat Forest 5-1 at the City Ground in 95-96 I think.

Or maybe to JW, RC and TF and the rest of the Rovers board - some think they doth not protest enough at the time?
Guess the last people to 'blame' (if at all) for buying the club could be the Venkys. There are though of course no comparisons to be made about what Jack did for the club and what the Venkys will or can do.
He was a local lad who loved the team and loved the town and its people. He knew the people.
However much the V's (or anyone else who could have bought the club) put into the Rovers it will NEVER match what Jack did for us. I guess the point I am labouring to try and make is that whilst we will never ever forget Jack Walker - that whatever you think about them - we have to look forward and face the future under and with our current owners. IMO Jordan Rhodes and Henning Berg coming into our club gives us some small but important reason to look forwards for the first time since the Venkys came in. Who knows what lies ahead? Maybe the Mayans?

interesting multicultural posts about today.....Modan's posts may not always be easy to understand but the lad(?) writes with passion about the subject. He also makes a few valid points among some of his rather wordy stuff - not least the point he makes about the WT not having many (if any) other options but to sell to the Venkys. The club had been up for sale and hawked around for a couple of years prior to them buying it. If we think that there is some kind of 'blame' attached to the V's for buying the Rovers, then who is that 'blame' attached to? The WT?

I find Modans views on Blackburn and Jack Walker, frankly offensive, displaying the same ignorance and arrogance we have seen from Venkys and Steve Kean for the last 2 years.
I have regularly acknowledged my support for Henning Berg and like you look forward to the future but what I do not need is this irrelevant indian suprmacist propaganda from a nation that actually leads the world in poverty.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - Modan and Smelly Diamond deserve each other.

As you're so educated on modern day football, you'd be aware Jack Walker died over 12 years ago. That means Rovers haven't been able to compete with Utd, Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal and the likes for along time. We had however had been a regular fixture in the Premier League. Why? Because the club was run like a well oiled swiss watch by real football people. Not some chicken farmers who didn't even realise a football was round untill 2 years ago, who made a string of catastrophic decisions the most disastrous of which was to appoint Steve 'worst manager of all time' Kean as manager.
So what I'd recommend is next time you decide to waste your time posting drivel on here, think again sunny boy and take Harwoods advice... stick to cricket.
I rest my case.
Liiverpool and Manchester United. Robert Coar the Chairman and people in the BRFC Boards sold this club to this Indian family because the Walker family wanted to sell the club to anybody with hard cash. Many football clubs in England are looking for foreign buyers, check it out .Leeds FC is looking for buyers for the last six years. The fact is there are not many Billionaire sugar daddies about in the world.

If you're suggesting we should be grateful for the way Venkys have run BRFC over the last 2 years, I'm afraid your way way off the mark. What has the Cathedral requiring renovation got to do with Rovers? Are you suggesting us 'whites' don't give a sh1t about the town because the Cathedral need money spending on it? If you hadn't noticed, religion doesn't rule most english Blackburn folks life - unlike muslims, football is our religion!
Jack Walker is history, his family just flogged of the club to a Indian family in India. You have to look to the future.I was born in Blackburn and Rovers supporter through and through. The Rovers Board sold this club as Robert Coar the Chairman then said to a good family in India as there was no intrest from an American or Arab Billionaires. This is a small town and a small club with average gate of 24,000 .The Asian and whites do not live together in Blackburn as many whites think we live in ghettos of central parts of the town.As for your Walker family, the Cathedral in Blackburn requires £3 million for renovation for this great Cathedral has the Walkers donated any of their millions. The muslims in Blackburn build mosques for £3 million from donation from all muslims in Blackburn including those top Asian Bussinessmen.Do not say Venky is the reason for Blackburn Rovers being in the mess. The Walkers family did not want to invest anymore since the death of late Jack Walker.Yes Jack Walker was a great man pumping his huge wealth into a small town club who were in old second ad third division and Ewood Park was a cow sheds.Time has changed ,football has moved to another level where top players cost anything beetween £10 to £30 million pounds and players wage could be around £100,000 to £200,00.Blackburn Rovers now cannot compete with the top clubs likes of Man Utd,Liverpol,Spurs,C

interesting multicultural posts about today.....Modan's posts may not always be easy to understand but the lad(?) writes with passion about the subject. The WT?
I find Modans views on Blackburn and Jack Walker, frankly offensive, displaying the same ignorance and arrogance we have seen from Venkys and Steve Kean for the last 2 years.
I have regularly acknowledged my support for Henning Berg and like you look forward to the future but what I do not need is this irrelevant indian suprmacist propaganda from a nation that actually leads the world in poverty.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - Modan and Smelly Diamond deserve each other.
Lets talk football tomorrow.

What becomes very clear is that they - Asians of Blackburn - are supporters and fans of BRFC just like every other fan/supporter of BRFC.
They have resided in Blackburn for up to and over 50 years and truly are fans with BRFC enshrined in their hearts and minds.
These British Asians of Blackburn are proud to be British and proud of BRFC.
However, the Venkeys are not like these British Asians in Blackburn.
Indians from India -Those rich billionaires who have recently come and bought BRFC. These people are only after their profits, they don't want to know Blackburn, they don't care about Blackburn.
They have made their billions from exploiting poor people and Blackburn's Asians would have been in abject poverty were they still in India as Venkeys would have oppressed down right to the bottom of the poverty scale..
So it is a fact that these British born Asians of Blackburn are fans /supporters of BRFC and will always remain so.
Lets not divide our fans, our supporters irrespective of colour, creed or religion but rather stick together and not allow the vultures within society to destroy us and BRFC.
