FULL TIME: Huddersfield Town 2 Blackburn Rovers 2

LEE Novak’s last-ditch equaliser denied Henning Berg his first win as Blackburn Rovers boss as Huddersfield Town claimed a point at the John Smith’s Stadium tonight.

Jordan Rhodes and Danny Murphy had netted as Rovers came from behind to lead 2-1, but Novak levelled deep into stoppage time.

Rovers almost took the lead after only 25 seconds when Huddersfield keeper Alex Smithies made a fine save to deny Ruben Rochina.

But it was the hosts who went ahead in the 15th minute at Novak found the net.

Rhodes hit back in the 43rd minute, though, on his return to the John Smith’s Stadium – just over two months after his £8m move to Rovers – as he ran on to Rochina’s pass and fired past Smithies.

And Murphy put Rovers 2-1 in front 10 minutes after half time as he sent Smithies the wrong way from the penalty spot after Markus Olsson had been fouled as he surged into the box.

Novak, though, equaliser for Huddersfield in injury time as he bundled the ball past Paul Robinson.

Rovers: Paul Robinson; Adam Henley, Scott Dann, Grant Hanley, Martin Olsson; Mauro Formica (Diogo Rosado 82), Danny Murphy, Dickson Etuhu, Markus Olsson; Ruben Rochina (Simon Vukcevic 78); Jordan Rhodes. Subs not used: Jake Kean, Bradley Orr, Bruno Ribeiro, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Raheem Hanley.

Unbelievable why cannot we concentrate in the lst two minutes? How many times as that happened is a fitness levels or do we need better defenders?

Sickening! Given the number of goals we concede in the last minute, one of your priorities, Henning, is to get a decent fitness coach so the team can keep going for the full 90 minutes.

Ok we conceded a late goal yet again, but so many positives
Berg directing from the side line, positive substitutions which saw us attacking at the end of the game instead of sitting deep for the entire second half.
Still a lot of work to be done of course, Etuhu and Murphy are still poor and invite pressure onto a very shaky defence; Dann is poor even at this level
However I think Berg will sort it, fitness levels need to improve and so does concentration

WELL DONE TONIGHT RUBEN !!!

ROCHINA - He played his best game in a Rovers shirt - creative, skilful, did not lose posession cheaply, tracked back, looked a threat every time on ball, still needs to improve his decision making though ...

MURPHY / ETUHU - You would not get in my 5 a side team. You are both AWFUL. Danny DO NOT KISS THE BADGE AGAIN you Kean loving traiter !!!. You play 10 yard passes to each other / lose the ball in dangerous areas / do not track back / moan at others when you need to sort your own games out ...

DANN - you are a LEGEND IN YOUR OWN INTERVIEWS - not on the pitch. You conceded a goal at Palace by not picking up. You conceeded a mindless free kick tonight for the Hudds goal. Your own players know you were never a £6million buy - you are WEAK / cannot deal with headers / cannot manage a defensive line / do not deserve to play for my club.
I am sure Henning will sack you as soon as he can.....

We need to be winning games like this, and closing a lead out ... Senior Pros this falls on you ..

Great to see & feel the ROVERS FANS chanting & cheering their team on again tonight .. Its been too long we have been forced to put up with crap management and our only course of action was to shout against the club ...

I think we played really well today, in my opinion the best this season.
I know we only got a point but its football and we were just unlucky.
I think Rochina played well, the best this season and he'll improve.
Central midfield is where we lose matches as have old players playing for us.
I am not a fan of Etuhu /Murphy but then again we have not got any better at the club.
I think the manger has still a lot of work to do and obviously it will take time as he has to find out about the capabilities of the players already at the club.
I really do feel we need a midfielder, actually 2 central midfielders as we ain't got any that deserve to play there......!!! or are too old or past it.....!!
We need central midfielders as we are really poor in this area at BRFC. We need players who can boss the center of the park and provide link up with the strikers who is also energetic and that means young and able to last 90 minutes.
We will need to replace all the oldies sooner rather then later but of course we need to keep the elder players as we need the experienced players to provide balance for the younger lads.
I think we will start winning sooner rather then later as i have hope and expect from the current team selection.
I think we can look forward to collecting 3 points regularly in the near future with the current team selection.
I saw many positives from out performance today.
Young players are the future and although we need players like Dunny, Murphy and Etuhu, Pederson in the squad, I would rather have energetic younger players especially in the midfield as it can be fast and players need to last the full 90 minutes
I think Pederson should get a chance in the center sooner with Etuhu or Murtphy as I still think Etuhu / Murphy are slow and past it.
Hence we really have not got any players capable of doing the job that is required in the centre of the park.
In fact I think this is where we are losing games, we simply have not got strong enough players to boss the center of the field of play.
Ultimately we need young midfielders who can be the generals who can boss the play and control the games. we clearly don't have a leader on the field.
I would recommend to buy a central midfielder, a fast winger and a big striker to play alongside Rhodes.
Obviously the defense could do with an additional member as Orr is cxxx.

Sorry Mr French, but that assessment is way off the mark tonight my friend !

Performance wise I can understand the confusion, but the result was there for the taking after conquering the onslaught given by those Terriers and their hard ball approach.

At least 3 times we had the chance in those last dying minutes to keep the ball well away from the onion bag, but our CLASS did not shine through along with some composure emitting from a LEADER on the pitch !

I'm gonna lay the blame firmly at the door of Robbo tonight, as I believe his two major mistakes or lack of commanding his area allowed the goals. He should of been all over that ball for the first(IMO) considering he his the only one allowed to touch with hos hands. Strangely, when he decided to attempt just that he f....d it right up culminating in the 94th and 56 seconds goal !

Absolutely sickening, but that said the terriers deserved the equalizer if purely through the tenacity to play to the final whistle, unlike our boy's who couldn't smell the triumph, as we could on the terraces - regardless of the performance.

Berg as every right to be peeved over this and i believe he his considering his remarks on the BBC sport website.

The odious one as much to answer for with his preposterous signings that lack steel and the determination to see out a game such as that tonight.

Rochina was quality, for me tonight, but from his direct shooting in the first half to beating around the bush in and around the area in the 2nd cost us the chance to score more goals. Even before they scored the graveyard shift goal we had 3 good chances to hit the target, but faffing around put paid to that.

One thing I will say here to the detriment of the Terriers is that they lived up to their name quite shockingly tonight with little or no protection from the poor ref.

This scenario of tonight conceding such a late, late goal must be nipped in the bud and the likes of the fallen hero should be busting his gonads in drumming that into the heads of those players !

Berg will be livid and he must act in showing them it is not acceptable if we are to have any chance of achieving promotion at the first attempt ?

I believe he will get it right, but he must install that mentality and quickly.

A sickener overall, but the green shoots of Berg can be seen in small doses. Here is to him getting it right and steadying the good ship Ewood. Great turn out from the fans tonight all in good voice :)

Whilst it's so disappointing to concede late again, we've got to look at the performance at this stage. Berg's been at the helm only days and we are seeing some signs of positive improvement. It will take some time to get the players fit and understanding how he wants them to play. We're in the mix in 6th spot and if we keep improving will be in the mix at the end of the long season.

Barring the spell after we conceeded, I thourght tonight was one of our best performances all season.

Murphy had probably his best game especially in the second half, I thought he recycled the ball really well towards the end of the game and controlled the midfield.

The starting lineup was almost perfect. We have been crying out for that team to play together for a long time but neither Kean nor Black made the realisation. Formica and Ollson supporting a higher up Rochina made the difference.

Rochina seems to be getting over himself a little now and actually passing the ball instead of shooting at the first chance. Vucevic looked deadly in his brief cameo, i'm still perplexed asto why he isnt played more often especially since we don't have a right winger other than him. You could argue Rosados introduction was lethal since a poor pass from him ultimately led to thier equalizer, although he may have a future.

You could really tell CKR wasn't playing tonight since we didnt have too many shots from 40 yards and we didnt have snail pace build up. For me CKR is no where near good enough, we don't have the type of team which supports lazy, greedy, slow, unintelligent frontmen.

For me the way forward for Rovers is the stylish 'beat-a-man' approach and the best players for doing that were playing tonight (apart from Nuno Gomez). I would like to see either Murphy or Etuhu make way for a permenant role for Rohina when Best/Goodwillie return so that we can play 2 up top with 1 in the hole.

Amazing travelling support tonight, I like how Berg gets his blue n white army chant straight away and yet Kean never earned that in 2 years, just shows how useless he was.

If we pick that team on Saturday we should walk the three points. Berg just needs to drill into them "KEEP SCORING WHEN WE GO INTO THE LEAD" and we'll be alright.

If u want fans to cheer, u have to get goals, never allow to go deep, deep.
rochina need to improve with his shoot on target and angle. he need more consentration than runing around. he played better with respect to other matchs.

How many matches we loose in this championship like this in the last couple of mts with the same team members, Lazy .....lazy .... defence.

Good point. But Smelly does make some good points of his own. Perhaps he feels the pain of our plight more than others. Last night I was particularly peeved with our failure to see the match out, and Rosado was singled out on the journey home for some flak. I still have not forgiven Rochina for the same failure at the end of the Bristol City away match.

I am beginning to understand the attitude of those supporters who hounded Kean out of the club. Only two games in and I seem to have developed a similar pathological hatred for Henning Berg and I don't think I will ever be persuaded that he is the right man for the job. One point from six and two points from his last thirty six as a manager pretty much says it all. If it's a nice fine day on Saturday, my season ticket will stay in the cupboard, my seat will remain empty and I will enjoy a few hours on the golf course. It's not a boycott as such, but I simply can't bring myself to be part of the inevitable sham circus of Shebby The Snake introducing his latest ill advised decision.

Pretty much weighs them up that mate, good comment. I worked in Bonley (as they like to pronounce it)for 10 years from 88 to 98 and the vitriole from them was unbelievable. For the majority of that time we were towards the top of the old 2nd div, then a premiership side , eventually according to them buying the title. They were scraping around the 3rd tier and doing nothing but still they professed to be a bigger and better run club. If it wasn't so sad it would be laughable. They are the most jealous, bitter bunch of cretins you will ever meet, so deluded, its beyond belief. I've always had a healthy dislike for them being from Great Harwood and going to school in Accy where there's plenty of dingles, but my time over there accelerated my dislike somewhat. These days we're on a more level playing field so they're more entitled to see us as a rival, but the fact remains that hurts them more than anything else that they haven't beaten us for 33 years, we have our name of the premiership trophy and despite a lot of disillusioned Rovers fans staying away whilst we are owned by a bunch of idiots, we still pull bigger crowds and make headlines easier than they do.
Yes , its no wonder they're so interested in us!

Another FIFA 12 armchair manager stating the bleeding obvious, lol.

You should have applied for the job.

Yes we continue to give away daft goals in the last couple of minutes, but we did that throughout Kean's sad reign and that of Lardarse before him if I remember correctly.

The confidence of the players is fragile at best, most of them haven't recovered from the week in week out stuffing they were getting the last two seasons, and relegation doesn't only hurt the fans.

But it was good to see Murphy's reaction when he slotted home the penalty, more of that to come I hope.

What we do need is a Robbie Savage type midfielder to break up play, we have too many show ponies and not enough miners, and I am pretty sure Henning will be picking up on this.

Premier League players are pretty useless in this division because they come in thinking they are better, that's why relegated PL teams nearly always struggle in the early part of the season.

We need players who will get us into the PL, not more show ponies.

A few have commented over Rosado coming on in preferance to MGP, but in all honesty I do not see MGP as a player to utilise to 'see a game out'. Yes he can play 'keep ball' qute well, but he is no tackler and his pass rate (completion) is fairly woeful.
HB has gambled maybe in giving Rosado a shot, and the guys slipped up. But this will happen from time to time, thats football.

Woke up this morning feeling a lot more upbeat than when I went to bed last night,
OK we squandered a 2-1 lead with 30 seconds left but I think we can put that down to Rosado's inexperience at this level, Maybe Robbo could have done a little better and maybe Dann could have cleared the initial header - but he didn't and they scored.
Aside from that I thought Murphy looked a lot better after his goal and actually started passing forwards once he scored - Maybe he will start coming good after a little bit of confidence, certainly liked his celebration as it showed a lot of passion, Lots of plusses in Rochina, Simon, Rosado (Bambi!), And of course we know how good Rhodes is. All in all I would have taken a point before the game so to walk away with one when all said and done isn't the worst thing! berg seems to realise we need to make better decisions in the final third and I hope he addresses this, Sure he will in the next few games!

Finally to all them doom and gloom folk on here - Please don't bother coming and booing players on Saturday we don't need it! Get behind them, 3 points and we're right back in the mix!

Good on you for going back but ironically, it looks like I will be going the other way. Having supported the club throughout the Kean era, irrespective of my personal views of his ability, I really looked upon his departure as a potential watershed. The appointment of Berg therefore was just too bitter a disappointment to take and despite holding a season ticket I can find more enjoyable and less frustrating things to do on a Saturday afternoon. I am not boycotting the club, I have simply had the passion drained out of me and actually feel sick to the pit of my stomache every time I see, or hear the name Shebby Singh. Oh and smelly will be keeping a low profile as Mick Bananaman Mcarthy took a d@mn good thrashing by a very good side.

What Berg needs to look at here is the amount of goals conceded not the amount being scored, we have proved we can score goals the fact we can't keep them out is a joke!

Birmingham must be rubbing there hands together with us having paid 6-8 million for a defender that can't defend!

January transfer window clear out:

"Pathological hatred" are strong and worrying words, but maybe your previous facts about military trained explain this a little. Why didn't you buy your S.T. if the managerial appointment fitted your parameters? Can't see why you'd spend money, then not turn up? All your doing is putting money into owners pocket then not even getting a real view of the game to base comments on. You say you're staying away as you don't like the product on offer or the regime in operation, but still funding that operation. That's a total mystery to me, but then I was never part of the military, so never had someone to tell me what to do every minute of every day. Never mind I will still be there Saturday cheering on the team sent out by HB.
At least it is not Kean picking it.

Much better passing and there seemed to be more hunger about the side last night, best performance (of the 4) that I've seen from Rovers this season. Henley much better at right back than Orr has been, Murphy probably his best game of the season last night, Grant Hanley looking strong and it was nice to see both Rochina and Formica start (and do well) in the same XI. Whilst slightly risky as a strategy, its good that Berg is backing the talents of these two, both showed bits of real quality last night.

Wow them chips on your shoulders are massive. Did you get them from Big Sam on your left shoulder and Mick Bananaman Mcarthy on your right? Berg will pull it round then you will have to disappear around the u-bend complete with massive chips and bitter taste in your mouth from all the humble pie.
Hold on here! I thought the anti Big Sam hoofball fools had eaten all the humble pie - after licking all the egg from their faces?
No Bazzer you fail to understand. Smellies chips are nothing to do with hoofball, they are because of his failure to move on. Its a new dawn round here, kean has gone, but his chips are still there and now he's even bitter that we got a point away at Huddersfield. Question, is he actually a Rovers fan any more or just one big chip?
Could you please rephrase the "hoofball" jibe by using the tag "percentage football"? I would not bite so easily, you see.

Or an alternative view would be...

Game 1 = 0 points
Had little time to influence things in training prior to game. Playing form side of the Division. Learnt a great deal and blooded some new talent in Henley.

Game 2 = 1 point
Progress. Not a loss. Judge Berg's reign from this game. Stil early days and plenty of room for improvement according to fans who were there AND also some positives at long last and the sense of some HOPE AND BELIEF for a change!

The Jury is out on Berg...but so far he appears to be building a case for his defence (no pun intended!) that could ultimately stick. I hope in the end he proves his doubters wrong and a unanimous verdict is passed in his favour and we can get back to being united once more.

Give the guy a chance!

So come on Venkys, help the new boss out, before the sides at the top get too far away.I'll be at Ewood Saturday, singing my heart out."Henning Bergs blue and white army"...

Were you there last night? Did you see his pathetic cheating dive? I was and I did. You should be very embarrassed that a player in a team that you support is such a blatant cheat!

And I wasn't telling fibs, I actually saw him still rolling down the hard shoulder of the westbound M62 as I passed the junction for Saddleworth!

Why would a dingle go to the Hudds v Rovers natch then ?

You really think its worth complaining about? if you think the comments from the Burnley fans are "straight from the gutter" then, just for a bit of perspective, you should read the tidal wave of filth that the rovers fans post on the Burnley articles!! Sticks and stones etc.

We have Claretsmad to discuss burnley we don't need the public forum of a local newspaper! You little sensitive soul, i hop i haven't offended, should i be waiting for a complaint to the administrators "Oh Misas the nasty Burnley fans are poking fun at us again!!"

Dear oh dear, football is just a game, the people who play it do so because they were generally a bit thick at school but lucky for them could kick a football, once upon a time the UK produced home grown thickies, now a days not so many, easier to import them from abroad. I doubt anyone on this forum earns as much in a year as a Rovers player earens in a couple of weeks, yet they practice day in day out and still can't score from a penalty, thank God they aren't brain surgeons.

It's not a boycott as such, but I simply can't bring myself to be part of the inevitable sham circus of Shebby The Snake introducing his latest ill advised decision. .
Thinking for myself maybe helped with having a proper thought process? Enjoy your golf, I hope its sunny on sat because the proper fans will be at Ewood, cheering on the players and Berg and hoping for a change in style and fortune. Maybe 19 premiership games will be as attractive as 18 holes, so we'll look forward to seeing you back in your seat along with the other excuse making glory hunters
Thank you for your good wishes and to clarify:
I purchased my Season Ticket as I am ( was ) a true supporter of the club and genuinely believed that even if SK were unable to turn the club around, there would be a solid plan B.
Unfortunately I had not forseen the ridiculous appointment of Shebby the Snake or plan B becoming Plan Berg.
I can assure you that I am no Glory Hunter..............
.....there is little prospect of further glory at Ewood. All I am looking for is a club, a team and a manager that I can pledge genuine allegiance to and know, in return, that they are all as committed as most of the genuine fans are.
The weather forecast for Saturday is not looking great by the way!

Know your history Frenchie. Bob Crompton saved this club in the 30s with a similar brand of football. Reviled at the time by the purists, but successful never the less.
